Chapter 35: The Xi Family

  Chapter 35: The Xi Family

The storm finally subsided, without causing much turmoil, mainly because the school leaders were too powerful and effectively controlled the impact within a certain range. Except for the parties involved and a few students who were silenced, not many people knew that a shocking event had occurred tonight.

As for that arrogant and violent guy, a bastard named Qin Di, a Qin Di classmate who was pretending to be fierce with a tiger skin, was now sitting in a black Audi A6 with a government license plate.

The driver was Secretary Ji, and Qi Zhuxin and Qin Di sat in the back row.

The atmosphere in the car was strange, Qin Di didn't say a word, Ji Zhu closed her eyes to rest, seemingly not interested in talking to him either. Mainly because this young lady had a lot of opinions about Qin Di, she was very resentful and couldn't forget that Qin Di had mocked her father, so she was quite cold towards him.

That secretary, Ji, didn't even glance sideways, driving steadily and smoothly, only occasionally checking Qin Di through the rearview mirror, as if sizing him up, wondering what kind of person he was that could get the big boss to cover for him.

Qin Di didn't try to break the silence either, nor did he pay attention to Xian's secretary's strange gaze that followed one after another, and remained very calm.

  Arrived.

The car drove into an estate.

The manor is quite exaggerated and unexpectedly large, enough to see the energy of the Ji family in the deep sea. Fortunately, the entire manor is not luxurious, with a strong ancient flavor.

Two people including Secretary Xi got off the car and then drove it away directly.

Ji Zhu led Qin Di directly upstairs without going to the living room and entered a study.

The study was simple and unpretentious, with two rows of bookshelves, two chairs, and a sofa. A middle-aged man sat on the sofa brewing tea, his demeanor peaceful and serene - it was Ji Zhongxin, the "Seal-Bearing Governor". He smiled slightly when he saw the two enter, nodding at Qin Di.

Qin Di smiled back without being too humble or arrogant, his eyes fell on Old Ji who was sitting in the chair, and he didn't make any more unnecessary moves.

The old man closed his eyes, holding a radio in his hand, listening to current events on a deep-sea channel.

Qin Di stood at the door, looking at the old man on the chair, and then glanced at Ji Zhongxin on the sofa, feeling that this father and son both had a post-autumn accounting attitude.

The old man opened his eyes, looked at Qin Di who was calm and composed, and smiled slightly: "You can't judge a person by appearance, you're so young, yet you have such amazing medical skills. Did you feel humiliated that day in the hospital?"

"No!" Qin Di was extremely alert.

"Sit down and talk." The old man pointed to a chair beside him, seemingly a casual gesture, but Ji Zhu was shocked and stunned, because the two chairs of the old man, one was his own, and the other was mostly empty, only occasionally one or two elderly people from the capital had the qualification to sit.

In Ji Zhuyin's impression, even her father, Ji Zhongxin, didn't have many chances to sit down.

And she, in memory, except for a few times when she was a child, never had one after growing up.

Ji Zhongxin seemed to have noticed this too, his expression unchanged as he continued to brew tea.

Qin Di had no idea what this chair meant, he sat down honestly, not nervous at all, very natural.

"I heard that on that day at the hospital, you faced a group of doctors' siege, unflappable and composed, using reason to argue forcefully, and managed to sarcastically ridicule those incompetent doctors. You had guts! Now thinking back, I still feel indignant for you." The old man turned off the radio, put it aside, and said kindly: "The pain I've endured in body and mind over these past few days is still deeply etched in my memory, but with your acupuncture and a simple dose of medicine, my condition improved significantly. This medical skill that achieves great results with simplicity, turning decay into something miraculous, has left an even deeper impression on me than the pain!"

"You're overpraising me." Qin Di said with a smile, extremely humble.

"You're not being honest, humility is good but excessive humility is pretentious, especially for young people like you. Sometimes being sincere doesn't hurt.

The old man chuckled and said: "So many doctors, so many experts, spent so much time, still couldn't do anything, while you, just diagnosed me once, grasped the condition completely, even cured the chronic illness, medicine worked wonders! You're really impressive!"

Qin Di smiled and said "hehe", without responding.

The old man smiled and said: "Actually, I want to thank Dr. Qin."

Qin Di hastily said: "I don't dare, saving lives and treating injuries is a doctor's responsibility."

"Doctor Qin's medical skills are so remarkable, I wonder who his master is?" The old man asked suddenly.

The princess's ears perked up immediately.

Ji Zhongxin also glanced at Qin Di lightly, very curious.

"I have no mentor, my medical skills are self-taught." Qin Di replied.

The old man chuckled and obviously didn't believe it, but he didn't ask any further questions. Instead, he said: "Doctor Qin doesn't seem to be from the deep sea, does he? Judging by his accent, he's probably from the Qinling Mountains in Shaanxi Province. Are there any other family members at home? Where do his parents work? Does he have any brothers or sisters?"

A string of questions, seemingly casual, in a chat with his family, Qin Di keenly sensed that there was something profound behind these words.

Qin Di didn't believe that Ji Lao was genuinely concerned about his family situation, apparently having done some investigation on him. After all, Ji Lao's status was too special, and the Ji family wouldn't have put their minds at ease if they hadn't grasped Qin Di's identity background clearly.

"After some thought, Qin Di said: 'There's no one in my family, I'm an orphan, and I've been living in the welfare institute since I was twelve.'"

"What about before you were twelve?" The old man asked casually.

"It's unclear, because I don't have any memories of before I was twelve years old." Qin Di looked at Ji Lao, his face somewhat agitated. He believed that with the Ji family's power, they could investigate a person and dig up their entire past from top to bottom. It was likely that the Ji family already knew about Qin Di's past twelve years and his true identity.

What disappointed Qin Di was that the old man didn't have any reaction, instead he frowned and asked: "So that means you can't remember anything before you were twelve years old?"

  "Yes." Qin Di replied affirmatively.

The old man suddenly fell silent, as if thinking about something important.

But Qin Di didn't notice at all that behind him, Ji Zhongxin and his daughter were staring at him with a very strange gaze.

After a while, the old man beckoned with his hand, and Ji Zhu Xin brought over the pot of brewed tea to the old man's side.

The old man pointed at the tea on the table and said with a smile: "Don't be polite."

Qin Di nodded and picked up a cup of tea to take a sip.

"I heard you got into trouble at school today?" The old man sipped his tea and smiled, saying "Tell me, what happened."

Qin Di's heart skipped a beat, what was supposed to come had finally arrived.
