Chapter 12: The Arrogant Attendant Disciple

The square-faced boy hesitated for a moment, then looked up at the attendant disciple and asked, "Senior Brother, didn’t you say each person gets three bottles of Foundation Building Pills, totaling thirty pills? But... I only have twenty-seven here."

"What do you mean, twenty-seven? I personally filled these bottles, so there’s no way there’s a mistake!" the attendant disciple decred confidently.

"But there really are only twenty-seven pills here. If you don’t believe me, count them yourself!" the square-faced boy said softly.

"Count? Can’t you see I’m busy? If you don’t want them, hand the pills back and get lost!" The attendant disciple’s eyes widened, and he smmed his palm on the table with a loud bang, roaring angrily.

The loud noise startled the square-faced boy, causing him to tremble. He gnced at the tall, imposing attendant disciple, hesitated, and then reluctantly lowered his head, not daring to say another word.

The other children, seeing this, also shrank back, their smiles freezing on their faces.

Next, another square-faced boy received his three bottles of pills.

Walking to the side, this boy quickly checked the contents. As soon as he saw what was inside, his face turned ashen.

But after gncing at the attendant disciple, the boy silently put the pills back into the bottle without a word.

Su Shier, standing at the back of the group, observed everything quietly.

He clearly saw that the second square-faced boy’s bottle contained only twenty-five pills. Among them, two were waste pills, and the rest were dull, low-grade pills.

Su Shier frowned slightly but remained silent. However, the attendant disciple’s behavior reminded him of Er Gou’s father, who used to mix bad grain with good grain and shortchange people when collecting taxes in the vilge.

Soon, all six children had received their pills.

After checking their bottles, each of them wore a dejected expression, their heads lowered, clearly angry but too afraid to speak up.

Among the six, the unluckiest one had received only twenty Foundation Building Pills, three of which were waste pills.

Now, it was Zhu Hanwei’s turn, the second-to-st in line.

The attendant disciple gnced at Zhu Hanwei’s identity token and casually grabbed three bottles of pills.

"Senior Brother, I’m Zhu Hanwei, the son of the town mayor of Hui Long Town. You’ve worked hard distributing the pills. Here’s a small token of my appreciation." Before the attendant disciple could hand over the bottles, Zhu Hanwei swiftly pulled out a silver ingot from his pocket and pced it on the table with a smile.

The ingot was about the size of a baby’s fist and looked quite heavy, weighing at least fifty taels.

Seeing the silver, the attendant disciple’s eyes gleamed.

Narrowing his eyes, he casually swept the ingot into his sleeve with practiced ease.

As an attendant disciple with no hope of advancing in cultivation, his only goal was to amass as much wealth as possible. That way, when he eventually left the sect, he could live a life of luxury.

Turning back to Zhu Hanwei, the attendant disciple’s expression softened, and his attitude became noticeably friendlier.

"Junior Brother, there’s no need to be so polite. The Peak Master entrusted me with this important task, and I won’t let him down."

"You’re a promising young man. Keep working hard, and you’ll surely achieve great things in the future."

After offering a few words of encouragement, the attendant disciple pulled out three porcein bottles from his robe and handed them to Zhu Hanwei.

"Senior Brother, don’t worry. If I ever achieve success, I won’t forget you," Zhu Hanwei said eagerly, nodding repeatedly.

With that, he took the bottles and quickly checked their contents.

Inside, he found thirty Foundation Building Pills, two of which were smooth and lustrous—high-grade pills. The rest were bright in color, all mid-grade pills. Not a single pill was missing.

The other disciples watched this scene with wide eyes, their faces filled with envy and jealousy.

Su Shier gnced over but felt no envy. The Mysterious Pill Furnace he possessed could refine top-grade pills, which were far more valuable than these.

Still, even the smallest gain was worth taking. These pills were distributed by the sect and rightfully his.

By both reason and principle, he had no reason not to cim them.

Holding his identity token, Su Shier stepped forward to the attendant disciple.

By now, the attendant disciple had returned to his impatient demeanor. After quickly gncing at Su Shier’s identity token, he gave him a disdainful look and muttered under his breath.

"Su Shier? The kid who took over Chen Xi’s job watching the Waste Pill Room?"

"You’ve got some luck to survive in a pce like that for so long! Here, these are your pills." With that, he rolled his eyes, grabbed three bottles from the corner of the table, and roughly tossed them to Su Shier.

Su Shier frowned, feeling displeased, but he wasn’t here to cause trouble. He held back his anger.

Taking the bottles, he hesitated for a moment before opening one to check the contents.

What he saw immediately ignited a surge of fury within him.

The three bottles contained only fifteen Foundation Building Pills in total.

What was worse, all fifteen pills were dark, foul-smelling, and clearly waste pills.

These weren’t spirit pills—they were utterly useless.

The other disciples in the courtyard, who had been preparing to leave, noticed the pills Su Shier had received and couldn’t help but smirk with schadenfreude.

They had been envious of Zhu Hanwei earlier, but now, seeing someone in an even worse situation than themselves, their own grievances suddenly felt less significant.

"Senior Brother, what is the meaning of this?" Su Shier stared coldly at the attendant disciple and smmed the waste pills onto the table.

Thanks to the Mysterious Pill Furnace, he didn’t actually need these pills.

But this injustice was something he couldn’t swallow.

If it were just one or two waste pills, or a few missing, he might have let it slide.

But now, half the pills were missing, and the rest were all waste.

If he didn’t have the Mysterious Pill Furnace, these pills could very well have ruined his path to immortality!

"What do you mean, ‘what is the meaning of this’? Kid, why are you bringing these waste pills to me?" the attendant disciple sneered, crossing his arms over his chest as he retorted.

"These waste pills are what you gave me!" Su Shier frowned, his voice icy as he pressed the issue.

"Me? Kid, have you lost your mind? This is the Pill Hall, not the Waste Pill Room! Trying to frame me? This isn’t a pce for you to cause trouble!" The attendant disciple’s expression turned hostile, and his tone carried a clear threat.

He didn’t dare to shortchange other disciples too btantly, but Su Shier, a mere waste pill room attendant, was someone he didn’t take seriously at all.

What he hadn’t expected was that Su Shier would dare to confront him and question his actions!

The attendant disciple had just handed over the waste pills to Su Shier, and now he was outright denying it.

This btant dishonesty left Su Shier momentarily stunned.

Was this guy really trying to py the fool?

"Cause trouble? If that’s how you want to put it, then I’ll have to take this matter to the Peak Master!" Su Shier said coldly.

"Take it to the Peak Master? Do you really think the Peak Master has time to deal with someone like you?" The attendant disciple scoffed, clearly confident that Su Shier was no threat.

"If the Peak Master doesn’t have time, then I’m sure Senior Sister Xiao Yue will," Su Shier replied calmly, not backing down.

He didn’t want to waste too much time here. Bringing this matter to Xiao Yue was undoubtedly the simplest and most efficient solution.
