Prologue: "The Smile That Fell Like Sakura"
---
In the middle of Tokyo’s spring, when the streets were painted with falling sakura and the wind smelled of memories, he appeared.
Amano Haruki.
With a smile too bright for someone who cimed to be “just passing through,” he arrived at Shirakawa High like a gust of warm April air. No one knew where he came from. His transfer records were fwless. Too fwless. The kind that made teachers suspicious, and students curious.
(Nao Shirakawa – Heroine / Female Lead
Species: Human
Family: Bedridden mother, father died in accident, stays with aunt)
___
Nao Shirakawa noticed him the moment he walked into Css 3-A. Not because he said anything loud or bold—but because he looked at the falling petals outside the window like he was watching the st scene of a movie he’d seen a hundred times. Eyes soft. Smile faint. As if... he already missed the world before he even lived in it.
___
The bell rings. Students chatter fades as the door slides open. A middle-aged teacher steps in with a soft smile, followed by a quiet boy with striking violet-blue eyes.
Teacher:
"Alright, everyone, settle down. We have a new student joining us today."
She gestures toward the boy standing beside her.
"This is Haruki Amano. He transferred here starting this semester. Please make him feel welcome."
"Good morning, everyone," he said. "I’m Amano Haruki. I hope we can make good memories together."
---
That word—memories—lingered.
For Shirakawa Nao, memories were heavy things. Things that stayed behind when people left.
She didn’t know then that Haruki was counting his days.
She didn’t know his smile was rehearsed in mirrors.
And she didn’t know that, by the end of the year, he would become her most painful memory.
But she would come to know it all.
Because sometimes, the ones who teach you how to live…
...are the ones who cannot stay.
---
"You're staring again, Nao."
Shirakawa Nao blinked, snapped out of her daze by the voice beside her. Fujimoto Ren leaned forward on his desk, smirking as usual.
"I’m not," she muttered, looking away quickly.
"Sure you’re not." Ren chuckled, tapping his pen. "But honestly, I get it. That guy’s something else."
(Ren fuzimoto--friend/ female)
Across the cssroom, Amano Haruki was already ughing with three cssmates—students who never talked to anyone just yesterday. Now they were smiling, rexed, like they’d known him for years.
He had that kind of presence. Warm. Easy. Like sunlight on a cold day.
Still, something about him felt... off.
It wasn’t in a creepy way. But more like—he was trying too hard to be ordinary. Like an actor who knew the role, but not the feeling.
---
Later that day — Rooftop
Nao often came here during lunch. It was quiet. The wind was gentle. And today, someone was already there.
Haruki.
He was sitting against the fence, eyes closed, face tilted toward the sky. Listening to music? No. Just... listening to the world.
"Did I take your spot?" he asked without looking.
"You didn’t."
He turned his head, finally opening his eyes. "Good. I like it here."
Nao hesitated, then stepped closer. "Why?"
Haruki smiled, soft and distant. "Because it’s high enough to feel like you're above everything... but not so high that you forget you're still part of it."
She didn’t know how to respond. But something in her chest moved.
"You're weird," she finally said.
"People always say that," he ughed. "But I think being weird is just another way of being honest."

After School – Walking Home
Ren walked beside Nao, gncing at her sideways. "So? What did you talk about with 'Nao'?" In roof top ?
"...Nothing much."
"She never talk to new people. Ever. And now twice in one day? You must be magic."
Nao shrugged. But inside, she felt it too—something about Haruki pulled her in. Like his presence was familiar, yet impossible to pce. Like a dream you forget the moment you wake up, but still miss all day.
Far above them, the cherry blossoms danced in the wind—petals falling like fragments of time.
