The seven figures all looked down upon the world from their long table, each despairing for a different reason to the ones beside them. None of them had ever expected to see what was before them. None of them had ever dared to fear that the dire situation of the world and all its creatures, could have ever befallen their world.
“This is going to lead to extinction.” The figure in clad in black robes covered with a hood stated. The voice hard to distinct between male or female, with a raspy tone to it. “Mass extinction of every race on the face of our planet.”
“Thank you for stating the obvious there you morose bugger.” The figure opposite the hooded figure said. This one was distinctly male and a lot rougher. Which was to be expected considering the individual was made entirely of living stone. “We can all see that!” The stone figure slammed a fist down onto the wooden table. “That is why we have called a meeting for the first time since we became seven as appose to eight.”
Everyone turned their respective eyes, or what passed for eyes for each of them, to the empty eight chair between the figures cloaked in black and white. They all knew that the fall of their eighth member had been the start of what was happening to their world and were now finding themselves so poorly equipped to handle.
“The two of us are already starting to see an increase in our respective domains,” The figure in white began. This one was clearly female and youthful, with as much vigour in her voice as the figure in black had rasp. “I am already having to create more souls for the beings that are constantly being born from all the different species trying to stay around, while this one has an overabundance of the souls of those who are constantly being slaughtered.” She slumped on the table with her arms splayed out before her.

“And I am seeing a larger number of creations being directed towards large scale war, not just the typical creations for the defence of nations and hunting of creatures. A large scale of coin is also passing between hands of far too many individuals for too many differing means for something not to be going on that we seem to be missing.”
Another figure around the table, this one seemingly made entirely of shifting water with small marine life swirling inside of it, was about to speak when the one figure that was usually kept quiet and reclused in his own work spoke up first.
“I have an idea that I have been researching for a while which should not only stave off our current problems but also help with the missing member of our little band up here.” This last figure was clad in scholarly robes with numerous different tomes made of vastly differing materials around him.
The other six were stunned into silence at this revelation. While it wasn’t as if they had all been sitting around doing nothing to avoid the mass extinction event that could be seen to played out in a decade or two, none of their ideas had borne fruit.
“Do not leave us in suspense then,” the final figure mentioned. This one formed of storm clouds dancing with sparks of lightning flickering all around it. “If you have something that works then tell us so we can implement it as soon as possible.”
“I have been observing the differing legends and folklore of nearby worlds and there is something I have found that will allow us to solve all of our current problems at once.” The others leaned in with the first sparks of true hope kindling inside of them for the first time since the eighth God of the world was unmade. “We create a dungeon.”
