Chapter 3 - White Moonlight

  Spy. Maybe he's a spy!

  Daryl was willing to sacrifice himself if the other party was a spy… Forget it, not many people know who Lei Meng likes. Even if it was discovered as a ploy of someone else, those people wouldn't have let a mermaid directly go to the Genetic Management Bureau for a compatibility match ah.

  How did they find a good identity to get closer to Lei Meng little by little? This is too harsh.

  "Sweetie…" Daryl almost bit his tongue, No, I can't call him sweetie anymore. "Eat more."

  Daryl has decided it's best to open his terminal and send a message to Lei Meng. Otherwise, it would be much more humiliating if he was caught. He didn't want to try Lei Meng's fists at all, nor did he want to see how powerful Lei Meng's Psychic Ability were.

  As for whether Yu Qing is a spy or something else, it's better left to Lei Meng's judgment. There's no need to think too much, Daryl said to himself. And the mermaid isn't his, so why should he overthink.

  Yu Qing saw that Daryl's attitude had changed. He was frivolous at first, but he suddenly became serious. Yu Qing couldn't help but turn and look back at the Association staff sitting not far away. Daryl doesn't have to act like that, after all he's still a noble.

  A Noble with high Nobility Status doesn't have to be afraid of the Mermaid Protection Association. It's not like the Association is going to ban the Merfolks from marrying the Nobles. Allowing the Merfolks to marry in accordance to their own terms had been the Association's policy for centuries.

  The Mermaid Protection Association's policies have been updated and have been keeping up with the changes in time. What the Association maintains is the freedom of Merfolks, not their confinement.

  "The food is delicious." Yu Qing said.

  "That's good." Daryl relied.

  "..." Yu Qing felt that the topic couldn't be continued. Should I continue on my own?

  Although he was indeed momentarily angry and spouted that he would marry a rich man, but after the night's breeze blew past him, his mind cleared up.

  It's just that the application form has been filled up and the Bureau has found a prospective match already. He found that he still couldn't please others in order to get married into a wealthy family. Didn't they say that these nobles would be kind and make sure to please the mermaids?

  "Eat slowly." Daryl added, "I just ordered other dishes to be served."

  Daryl didn't even think of going out and have a walk with Yu Qing. It would be a bad situation if he met Lei Meng who came over while they're outside. Daryl's thoughts are about saving his legs. In order to do so, he worked hard for his legs to be saved. In case Lei Meng didn't believe him, he sent a photo of Yu Qing.

  Lei Meng happened to be at home. Daryl has long been blocked from his contacts because he found him annoying. Therefore, he didn't receive Daryl's message.

  So Daryl kept on waiting until Yu Qing finished his meal and dessert. Lei Meng still didn't come.

  "Why don't you sit down again?" Daryl asked. "Eat some more?"

  "No need." Yu Qing couldn't eat that much, "I'm not a fat-headed fish."

  "Haha." Daryl could only smile, he didn't know what to say. He's afraid that the other party would think he's flirting with him.

  "There's no need for you to act perfunctory with me. If you don't like it or disagree with this, it doesn't matter." How could Yu Qing not discern the other party's attitude? I just don't think it's appropriate. "There are still other nobles."

  "..." Daryl's smile froze. Does he still want to meet the next noble?

  "Thank you for lunch." Yu Qing stood up since it's the other party who's going to pay the bill.

  "Wait." Daryl called out to Yu Qing.

  Yu Qing only waved his hand and left. What is there to be afraid of? His identity is now a Mermaid. He doesn't have to worry about offending the Nobles. He wasn't really offended and he even got a free lunch.

  When Daryl saw Yu Qing ignore him, he contacted the staff from Genetic Management Bureau inquiring about Yu Qing's situation and when is his next blind date with a noble.

  "This is a matter of personal privacy of His Higness the Mermaid Omega. We can not disclose any information to you." That's how the staff responded to Daryl. Even if Daryl was a Noble, the other party had no right to interfere with the Mermaid's choice.

  "..." Daryl has not paid attention to these policies of the Bureau before. He knew that if that is what the Bureau stiputed, then the other party couldn't possibly disclose anything.

  He asked…an annoying question. He then went straight to Lei Meng.

  Just in case that his friend was in a meeting and didn't see his messages, or was deyed by other matters.

  Daryl felt remorseful, thinking that his best friend had blocked him again. This is not the first time his friend has blocked him. Usually he would be blocked. But when he’s deployed on a mission or to the battlefield, he would be unblocked. However, Daryl has other ways to contact Lei Meng.

  The Mermaid Protection Association accompanied Yu Qing back to the vil and gave him reassurances, “Are you feeling drained? Please go back and take a nap. You can meet the next one tomorrow. It doesn't matter if the blind date was deyed two days ter.”

  “I’ll take a nap.” Yu Qing was not in a hurry. Even if he hasn't found any suitable noble for now, he’s able to eat rare fruits because of it.

  As, the treatment a Mermaid Omega receives is really exceptional. I wonder when is that Alpha’s mermaid transformation surgery would be. Would it even be successful or not?

  The transformation surgery is not 100% always successful. It’s fortunate that the life could be salvaged and the death risk is very low. But the downside is the possibility that the pheromones would be destroyed. Just because the success rate of the mermaid transformation surgery is high, not many would still undergo the surgery. So what if their life was saved? A destroyed pheromone is tantamount to a person’s life being destroyed.

  Yu Qing does not care about these things. Whether the success or failure of others, it has nothing to do with him. He would still thank the senior for protecting him against being schemed. And if the other person needed help, he would repay the favor.

  After Daryl left the restaurant, he got on the hovercar and accelerated to Lei Meng’s house.

  “Lei Meng, Lei Meng are you there?” Daryl looked anxious and started calling out for Lei Meng once he arrived at the living room.

  The butler originally wanted to let Daryl wait in the living room first, if not for the urgent expression on his face, the butler may not have let him in. His Excellency has already instructed him to not let Daryl in and to just let him dry outside.

  “I've found your White Moonlight!” Daryl noisily said. He’s afraid Lei Meng won't come out to see him.

  It wasn't unheard of for Daryl to visit and stay in the living room without seeing anyone for long periods while Lei Meng was clearly at home and not showing up.

  “If you don't come out, he will soon go on a blind date with someone else.” Daryl said. “He will marry someone else! If you don't believe it, just take a look at the messages I sent you and see that he even went on a blind date with me.”

  Aaaaaaaahh, why did I say what happened at noon? Daryl was annoyed.

  No. He’d better run. Daryl was ready to run. He already said it anyway. But before he could even reach the door, he was blocked by someone.
