Chapter 5 – Tutorial Start [5]

  Besides that, there were csses and professions, each with their own unique skills — something I obviously didn’t have. Maybe it was because this whole situation felt like a game. In the end, I was starting to find it all kind of interesting... even a little fun.

  That became even clearer when I turned my gaze to the reflections of my male and female selves. Both faces wore a slight, subtle smirk, like they were sharing some quiet, unspoken understanding.

  Well, if this really is just a dream, why not enjoy it a bit, right? This might be the first — and maybe the st — time I’ll ever have a dream this vivid, this detailed, with sensations that feel so incredibly real. Of course, that’s assuming this really is a dream… which, to be honest, is starting to seem less and less likely, especially at this point.

  “So... how exactly do I get a css and a profession? Both are marked as unavaible for me” I asked, as both of my bodies slowly turned their eyes back toward my clones.

  “You’ll receive your css once the tutorial begins. It’s the one thing that will define the path you’ll follow on your journey, which is about to start. So choose wisely” my male clone replied, his voice calm and serious.

  “On the other hand” continued my female version: “professions are unlocked automatically as you perform specific actions reted to the endless options avaible. Every choice, every movement, can shape your profession”

  Their expnations, while clear and precise, seemed to carry a lot of subtext. Maybe it was just me, but I couldn’t shake the feeling that something was being left unsaid.

  Still, I figured it’d be smart to try and get more information. But before I could even say anything, my female clone spoke again, cutting through my thoughts.

  “In any case, please choose your css. Remember, it will shape your future journey and the possible paths you can take. Again, I strongly recommend choosing wisely” she said, her expression more serious now and her tone firmer than before.

  The moment she said that, another screen suddenly popped up in front of me. I blinked — both my male and female eyes — and focused on what was there. It was impossible to ignore that these were the csses they’d mentioned before, but what really stood out to me was how many there were, each fundamentally different from the others. What was even weirder was how all of this was unfolding exactly like a video game.

  Warrior – A starting css focused on close-range combat, specializing in heavy weapons like swords, axes, and spears. Their strength and endurance make them a force to be reckoned with on the battlefield. Built to take hits, they can withstand even the heaviest blows. Bonus for choosing this css: +3 Strength, +1 Agility, +1 Perception, +2 Constitution.

  This first css seemed fully built around muscle development — if that’s the best way to describe it. And while it was tempting at first gnce, especially with its raw power, something told me it just wasn’t the right fit for me.

  Archer – A starting css that specializes in bows and arrows, perfect for quick and accurate long-range attacks. Archers are agile and have great aim, but they’re not built for close combat. They excel at keeping their distance, using their mobility to dodge direct hits. Bonus for choosing this css: +1 Strength, +2 Agility, +3 Perception, +1 Constitution.

  The second css — archery — actually seemed like a decent match for me. Still, there was one small problem: I didn’t know how to shoot a bow. Sure, maybe I’d learn fast after choosing the css, but something told me there were better options out there.

  Mage – A starting css built around magic, able to cast powerful spells for offense, defense, or support. Their magic can turn the tide of battle, but mages are physically fragile and vulnerable in hand-to-hand combat. Bonus for choosing this css: +1 Strength, +1 Agility, +1 Perception, +1 Constitution, +3 Mana.

  The idea of tossing fireballs and lightning at enemies from a distance sounded awesome — no doubt — but I had to be realistic. Without a solid team to back me up, I’d be totally screwed. No chance of surviving this mess on my own.

  Arcane Sorcerer – A starter css focused on casting buffs and debuffs. The Arcane Sorcerer is a versatile spellcaster dedicated to maintaining bance on the battlefield. They empower their allies with a wide array of buffs — boosting strength, speed, endurance, and other abilities — while crippling enemies with debuffs that reduce both offensive and defensive potential. Bonus for choosing this css: +1 Str, +1 Agi, +1 Per, +1 Con, +3 Mana.

  Although this css is definitely interesting, I honestly can't see myself taking on such a passive role—just standing by while my teammates fight for me. In other words, I don't like the idea of putting my fate in someone else's hands. I'd rather be on the front lines, facing challenges head-on. That's why I ruled this css out as well.

  Assassin – A starting css built around speed and stealth, specializing in moving through the shadows. Their strikes are quick and precise, using lightweight bdes to hit fast and vanish just as quickly. Masters of stealth, this css is perfect for those who want to surprise enemies with silent precision and extreme mobility. Bonus for choosing this css: +1 Strength, +3 Agility, +2 Perception, +2 Constitution.
