To say Reece's nerves were on edge was an understatement. Between the attack, the long wait in the hospital and Maddison's antics during the interview with O'Shea, he was more then ready to crash.
The brightest part of the day, despite the regretful circumstances that brought it about, was that Maddison was now a werewolf. She had not volunteered for it, but when the choice to turn back was given she had decided to stay wolf.
Not only did she opt to stay wolf, but she did it with such nonchalance that he almost laughed. It was like she'd been told she would have to be a red-head from now on. He worried she didn't really know what she was getting into, but he was happy all the same.
Now that she was a wolf- despite being a couple hours away from the virus completely taking hold- his own wolf was all the more aware of her. Had there of been any doubt in his mind that she was his mate that was was wiped clean now.
He was in a completely separate vehicle from her, on their way back to his house, and he could still feel her up ahead of him with her father, brother, and the she-wolf Kalie. He almost objected to Maddison riding with them. He had to stop himself making up some bullshit excuse to have her ride with him instead.
It was especially hard because he knew now that she felt the Call as well. When he put his hand on her leg at the hospital he saw her react. Saw the shock and confusion cross her pretty face. He felt an ache when she flinched away from it, knowing it was because she didn't know what it was she was experiencing. How could a human accept that the person they met less then a week ago was, essentially, their soul mate?
The way she focused on Liam irritated him. The damn Vampire knew it too. He shouldn't have even been there, being his boss's boss. Trevor was the one who was supposed to be at the hospital, and why Liam was there, he didn't know.

He didn't like her staring at another man, not when their Bond hadn't been completed. It made his wolf antsy. Just because they shared the Call didn't necessarily mean she would take him as her mate. His wolf would be on edge until he could convince her that he was just that: the mate for her.
What really surprised him was how dominant Maddison was. She had Maxwell almost cowering which not many females could do. Even the most dominate females usually couldn't cow a moderately dominate male. Not because they were weaker, that's just how werewolf dominance worked. Maddison was a spiteful little she wolf. Even the slightest perceived slight had her snapping and snarling.
There was no doubt in Reece's mind that Maddison was an alpha female. She would be a welcome addition to his pack if he could convince her to join his pack. He had no doubt that Ryan would allow her to join. The fact that she was his Bond-Called mate would have been enough, but now that she was clearly an alpha his brother would have begged her to join!
Well, no, he wouldn't beg. Getting an alpha to beg would have been a sight. But he would have tried to convince her to join the pack. Their pack had several females, a few of whom fought for dominance among one another, but none were so clearly meant to be alpha. Having a real alpha female would be a true asset to his pack.
The problem was that Maddison had made it perfectly clear that she was sticking with Kalie no matter what. Even if that meant they would be the only pack each other would have. So if he and Ryan wanted Maddison in their pack, they would have to take Kalie too...
Personally, Reece had no issue with anyone's sexual preference. Though he did have issue with Kalie's obvious interest in Maddison. Logically, he knew that there was no risk of Kalie snatching away Maddison- she clearly was fond of men- but his wolf had no love for the way the pink haired female longed for his mate.
Ryan, on the other hand, might not want a lesbian in the pack... As a pack they were pretty open minded, but Kalie was right that, as a race, most werewolves had a dislike of homosexual werewolves. He feared that, because of Kalie, Maddison would be taken away from him...
He would just have to hope for the best for now. Once he got home and was sure Maddison was alright, he would call Ryan and explain everything.
