Tonks stayed behind so she could sell all the potions while Keith left to get the stuff he needed on his own. He first got all the clothing he needed along with multiple stacks of parchment and a few quills.
Once these were done, he looked at the list and wondered which one he should get next.
“Cauldron and wand…” he muttered as he looked around and found Ollivanders to be pretty close to him so he decided to go there first. He walked in and saw a girl who was around his height and then an adult man sitting on a stool nearby.
Her thick red hair was braided, coming down until the bottom of her shoulder blades. Keith could tell that she was someone who ate well, unlike him, who skipped meals frequently so he could focus on making the potions he wanted.
He was just about to sit on one of the stools beside the man when he felt warm breeze hit his face. He turned his head to look at the girl who was clutching a wand as she looked up at the old man in front of her.
“Ah yes, a perfect match.” the old man said with a knowing smile, “Interesting… interesting indeed. Ashwood and dragonheartstring, the same combination used for your mother’s wand. Although, her’s was just ten and a half inches while yours is Twelve and three quarters.”
He then turned to look at the man, signifying that the girl could leave. She turned around and walked towards the exit but slowed down when she saw Keith standing in front of her.
She hesitated for a moment as she seemed to have an internal debate, but then she gave Keith an awkward yet curious smile, “Is it your first year at Hogwarts?”
“Yeah…” Keith said and hearing this answer, the girl’s face lit up.
“Oh I’m so glad I found someone!” she exclaimed and then continued, “My name is Susan Bones and I’m a first year too. My aunt is very busy at work, so I had to come here alone. I thought it would be fun but it’s so scary…”
She shuddered slightly and ran her hands over her arms, rubbing them.
Keith nodded, “My name is Keith. Keith Black. My sister is here but she’s also slightly busy so I thought I’d get some stuff on my own. I’ve been here quite a few times so I know my way around here.”
“Well… can I come with you then? Please? I still have to buy the books, cauldron and potion ingredients.”
In response, Keith gave her a slight shrug, “I don’t mind. But I’ll have to get a wand first.”

“That’s fine, I can wait!” Susan said hurriedly and sat down on one of the stools in the shop. Keith did the same and sat down beside her.
He silently watched at Ollivander scolded the young man for ten whole minutes until a wand was chosen. Once the payment was done, Ollivander turned to look at Keith as he slid the small pile of gold coins into a drawer nearby.
“Next!”
Keith got up and walked over. Ollivander just grabbed a random wand and gave it to him.
It stayed in his hand for less than a second before it got snatched away.
“Won’t work at all, won’t work indeed.” the old man muttered as he looked at the wands on the counter before giving another one to Keith, “Here, try this.”
This time, there was a small spark but even this wand was snatched away. One by one, Ollivander gave Keith multiple wands to try out and after almost half an hour, he nodded to himself as he brought around ten wands to the counter from the shelves.
“Now try these.” he said as he placed them in front of Keith, who silently grabbed a random one with a bored look on his face but all of a sudden, he frowned. Ollivander did not miss this sudden change in expression and watched curiously.
Keith stared at his wand as he heard multiple voices in his head. It wasn’t loud, and sounded more like whispers. He could tell where these voices were coming from, but it wasn’t through the sound itself.
Instead, he felt like something mysterious was pulling him towards them even though he stood rooted in one place.
“Me, I’m the one who suits you best.”
“I choose you.”
“We will be great together.”
.
.
.
Multiple voices, but Keith’s gaze went towards the one that was the loudest in his ears and also the one that made him feel the greatest connection. He frowned and looked at Ollivander.
“That wand right there… it’s telling me that we’ll be great together. The others are also talking to me. That, that, that and that one…” he began to point at them one by one and Ollivander grabbed them all without any question.
More than twenty wands were placed on the counter and Ollivander glanced at the bunch before smiling, “I see… all of these are Walnut and Silver Lime wood wands. No unicorn hair either… and all of them are above eleven inches.” he muttered and nodded to himself.
Keith placed the wand in his hand on the counter before grabbing the wand that was the loudest and saw it emit a golden glow. But along with that, he also stopped hearing the sounds.
Frowning, he placed the wand back on the counter and picked up the one that he was holding previously. He then pointed at the one that had just emitted the golden glow, “What’s that wand?”
“Walnut wood and Dragon heartstring, twelve inches. Moderately flexible.” he said and then added, “It’s a perfect fit for you.”
Keith shook his head, “I don’t like it.”
He then grabbed the wand that was the second loudest and when he let go of the other wand, he could still hear the voices. And this time, the voices were louder and clearer.
Even this wand glowed, and the glow wasn’t as shiny as the first one but Keith liked this wand better. He closed his eyes and focused his mind on his wand.
All of a sudden, he could hear hundreds of voices from two different directions and immediately opened his eyes before turning to look.
‘Oh… that’s where the Magical Menagerie and Eeylops Owl Emporium are. I could control animals and birds before but just by holding this wand… I can understand what they’re saying?’ he asked himself before turning to look at Ollivander who was staring at him with a curious look on his old face.
Before Keith could ask his question, Ollivander spoke, “Silver Lime, Dragon Heartstring. It’s flexible and is twelve inches in length.”
