Interlude – A crow in a bar

  "Give me another."

"Sir, you've been drinking for an hour. Should you—?"

"I said, give me another," Qrow insisted with a gre, gulping down another mug of alcohol in less than a second. He let out a satisfied burp. "Ahh, that hits the spot. Now give me another. I'll pay, don't worry." He groggily pced another stack of lien on the table.

The bartender gnced at the lien and eventually relented, fetching the drink. He didn't get paid enough to deal with this.

Qrow's expression fell to one of tiredness as he let out a sigh. 'Seriously, Ozpin, what do you want me to investigate?'

For days, he had been searching for this anomaly Ozpin had somehow sensed. How Ozpin knew about it, he had no clue, and he wouldn't even tell him why this search was important. Highly potentially dangerous individuals? Possibly. After days of searching and finding nothing out of the ordinary, he decided to y back and drink his frustrations away.

"Hey, have you heard about the two humans in Arora Vilge? They seem strange."

Qrow ears perked at the voices behind him. Strange?

"Strange would be an understatement. I heard their sembnce can create anything, like swords, with only a stick and a stone. Can you believe that?"

"Huh, they must be really special if they can do stuff like that."

"Believe me, I once thought of it as a dream. Man, it would be so cool to have sembnces like that. It would make our lives easier."

"Humans? Sembnce? Ohh, they might be on to something" Qrow listened closely to the two people's conversation as they sat close to him. He gripped the empty mug, pondering. 'Wouldn't this be the anomaly Ozpin wants me to find? There's a chance this might be it.' He took careful consideration before deciding to investigate. At the very least, he wouldn't be accused of not trying. He hated getting a boring lecture from Glynda again.

Qrow turned towards the two faunus, one a bull and one a lizard, who were talking endlessly while ughing. His eyes focused solely on them. He quickly hopped off his chair and approached them. His movements didn't initially gather much attention until he finally asked.

"You two, who are these humans you were talking about?"

The two stopped talking, and their heads turned to Qrow. The bull faunus looked at him, eyes narrowing with wariness. "Why would we tell you?"

Qrow smiled. "For starters, I'm very interested in your topic," he replied, pulling what he called the charming look. It always managed to impress the dies or, at the very least, convince them to spill information.

The two faunus looked at him, unimpressed. The look they gave him reminded him of the dies' looks when he asked for their numbers. Thankfully, he was used to it and didn't take it as an offense.

Qrow sighed, his smile fading as he saw they were not responsive to his charming look. "Okay, fine. You tell me, and I'll give you a drink. How about that?"

  "Five drinks."

  "Four."

  "Deal."

Qrow's smile returned as he took a seat at their table. He gestured with his hand. "Go on, you may start anytime."

The two Faunus shared a look with each other. In the end, it was the lizard faunus that spoke. "Their names were Steve and Alex if I recall correctly. They just came to the vilge two days ago. They became popur due to their sembnces and the time when they saved one of the vilgers."

Qrow nodded slowly, taking in the information. "So, about their sembnce, can you expin more?"

The lizard faunus looked thoughtful for a moment. "Uh, I can't really expin it other than they can create stuff with this mysterious block they call a crafting table. It's honestly pretty shocking what they can do with it."

'A sembnce that can create anything?' Qrow thought. If that sembnce existed, it was even more interesting to check out. "You were there?" He asked curiously.

The lizard faunus nodded. "Of course. I went to the vilge to do some trading. It seemed I was in the right pce at the right time when those two arrived. Everything I saw with my own eyes. It was unbelievable to see sembnces like that." He gave a Qrow a strange look "You are a huntsman, correct?"

  "What made you say that?"

  "Just an intuition."

"Intuition, you say." Qrow chuckled. "Is that all you know about them?"

"And I don't know if this information is true, but apparently, they have some sort of amnesia."

Qrow blinked, his face turning serious for a moment. "Amnesia?"

"Yeah, apparently they didn't know what a Grimm is until the chief expined it to them." The lizard faunus expined. He was just as confused as Qrow, whose face turned to mere disbelief, though he quickly composed himself.

'How can anyone not know what a Grimm is?' Even Qrow thought it was strange. He frowned. The chances of these two humans being the anomaly were a lot higher than he thought. "Alright, gentlemen, thank you for the information." He pced 1000 lien on the table. "A deal is a deal."

"Thanks," they said rather emotionlessly, but the excitement was obvious behind their expressions. The two Faunus grabbed the money without hesitation, afraid that Qrow might change his mind.

Qrow didn't mind and nodded. With no more words to spare, he left the bar.

"Wait, sir, your drink—!" The bartender tried to say, but Qrow had already shut the door.
