"Dad! Are these carrots already ripe? I can't differ it whether it is or not."

"Hah... Son, son, how many times I need to teach you how to guess the vegetables ripe or not."

  "Hehe... Sorry dad."

The kid stuck out his tongue playfully. His father sighed, exasperated, but patiently explained the process to him again, even though it was the tenth time. After a few minutes of careful explanation, they resumed harvesting vegetables from the farm together.

After an hour of harvesting, the sky starts to get darkened, meaning the night has come.

"Sousuke! Darling! Dinner is ready! Make sure to take a bath before eating!"

The dad and the son looked at each other before reply to her.

  "Okay, mom/honey!"

  ---------------------------------------------

"So, I need to explain again to him. Hah... Why you always forget something basic like this son?"

"Maybe farming is not my thing? That's why I'm not good in it."

"If you don't continue to take care of my farm, who will?"

"Dad, you can hire workers to take care of your farm."

"Enough, enough, stop fighting over it. Right now, eat. Oh, by the way, how was your school today, Kousuke."

  "It's... good? I guess..."

The mother looked at him with pity face.

  "Did they still ignore you?"

He nodded. Her mom sighed, pity on him, because since his first day at school no one want to talk to him because he is different. The student's parents at there have a better works than his parents. The differences make his life at school lonelier.

To comfort him, her mother gives a carrot soup and a slice of her meats to him.

"Don't worry, Sousuke, this is normal for kids behaving like this. When they start to mature, they will understand you more and maybe you can get a lot of friends."

  "Hu uh."

He nodded with a dispirited expression. He eats the meal that her mother gives slowly.

"Mom, I'm thinking about to stop go to school."

A slammed on the table from his father surprised everyone on the table.

"What do you think, you want to stop to go to school? You can't even to take care of the farm by yourself and the only thing you good is harvesting the vegetables. And? Now you want to stop to go to school?"

"But, every time I at the school I just keep being nervous. They ignored me, yes, but I still can feel they keep watching me and I felt like they judging me. One time when I'm in the class, teachers asked me to answer the equations on the blackboard. Every step I made just to go to the board, my nervousness keeps increasing as I felt like they staring at me and I ended up to puke inside the class."

  "So, what's wrong with that?"

"Since that day, they keep calling, Mr. Puke when they see me. I just hate it."

The tears started to fall down from his eyes as he holds it too not. His body shaking but the father just doesn’t give a damn.

"Then why do you need to be bothered by that? They’re just mocking you because of your name. Do they gain anything from it? Fun, maybe, but nothing more than that. Listen to me, son. They’ll keep messing with you as long as you react to what they say. Just ignore them; they’ll get bored eventually."

Sousuke raised his head and looked at his father. When he still a kid, he thought his father just doesn't care about him at all. But now he realized something, he just wants to teach him how the reality works. He wiped his tears using his shirt's sleeve.

"I'm sorry dad, for such a shallow-minded. I-I will keep going to school after this. I-I will make a lot of money to support you guys."

"Actually, all I want is for you to succeed in life, because that would be my greatest pride if you achieve it."

His father mumbled something in a low voice, barely audible to anyone. Suddenly, their livestock began making a loud ruckus on the farm. They ran toward the source of the noise and saw a crack in the wind at the edge of their farm. They walked over to take a closer look.

  "What is this, dad?"

"I too don't know. In my life I never seen something like this. Make sure don't be so close to it. Honey, call for the villagers maybe someone know about this."

  "Okay, darling- Argh!"

  "Mom/Honey!"

A creature with upper body of a mantis stabbed his mother stomach and raised it to the sky. It drank the blood that poured from her body.

  "H-Help... Darling..."

  "Damn you!"

His father rushed toward the creature and tried to slice it with a sickle, but the sickle shattered upon striking its body. The creature's body was harder than metal.

  "What!?"

Before the father could react, the creature sliced him in half, separating his upper and lower body.

  "Sousuke! Run!"

Her mother told him to run, but witnessing his father's cruel death filled him with anger. He grabbed the shovel and charged to the creature. He threw two stones to its eyes, which the creature dodged, but Sousuke was now standing in front of it. Using the head of the shovel, and smashed it into one of the creature's eyes.

"Take that, you fucking killer mantis!"

The mantis stopped reacting for a moment, then turned its head toward him, revealing that its eyes were now as good as new.

  "W-What?"

Without hesitation, the mantis attacked him. Luckily, it used the back of its scythe, so he wasn't sliced by it. He was thrown near the cracked wind, his body unable to move for a moment after that hard hit. All he could do was watch as the mantis devoured his parents. His mother, still conscious, cried and beg for her life.

He then felt as though his body was levitating, being pulled by the cracked wind. He stabbed his shovel into the ground to stop himself from being sucked in, but it was completely useless. In the end, he lost his grip on the ground and was absorbed by the crack.
