Congratulations! You've made it to the end of the first arc of I Was a Private Investigator, but Now I'm a Tentacle Monster Saving Space Dames!
My sincerest thanks to you, dear reader! I'd greatly appreciate an honest review; it would help me improve future content and do this full-time.
If you'd like to read ahead, you'll be able to do so on Patreon or Reams soon.
I've had a lot of love for the images I've been making for the story: I'll be adding merch for those on Patreon in the coming weeks.
If you haven't seen them:
Features Dana: you can read part of her backstory in the short story "Darlings of the Ring" from my newsletter.
She's not really so tan, but this was my first day working with Midjourney. I'd like to see a real artist take a stab at doing some art of her.
###
Second image I made, I was still learning a lot. Some have mistaken this for Clara, but it's supposed to be Jack's ex.
I also just realized that no one has said anything about the missing question mark.
###
Here's a more accurate image of what Dana will look like when she's introduced around Chapter 60.
The Western imagery was Midjourney's idea. I kind of liked it, so I've run with it. Gives off the Cowboy Bebop energy that inspired a lot of the story.
It's really hard generating images of her. She's supposed to have this mix of confidence, friendliness, danger, and attractiveness that I really struggle to get AI to capture. It's hard enough just getting the ears and tail depicted.
###
The narrative has been taken without permission. Report any sightings.
This is another one of the first images I made, and I got kind of lucky that my experimentation just churned out something cool.
I added the "Literally Me." I thought it was funny: if you're not familiar with the meme/film genre, look up some video essays about it on YouTube. I didn't set out to write a Literally Me story, but after a lot of research into the film genre, I realized that the genre fit my story like a glove.
In short, Literally Me films focus a lot on the damage that modern society does to men. I'm trying to write something about overcoming that rather than merely suffering from it.
I think this would make a really cool sticker.

I'm not really proud of this image. It was kind of a rush job, but I like that it features three of our space dames, and their art is pretty cool. From right to left we have Dana von Hara, Mai Selene, and Tallulah aka Tally. The Western accoutrements for Mai are ... Well, she lives in Suburbion on the planet Gothovia, and her whole arc will primarily take place in the megacity of Neo Mastonia (that name might change). But I needed an ad, and I thought that looked cool and went well with the Cowboy Bebop energy and my cover, so I ran with it.
As for Tally, she has been notoriously difficult to find images that capture her energy. Weak AIs have no idea what I'm going for. I think she's an incredibly unique character, and I was really excited with how this image turned out. I feel like it really brought her to life for me. I can't wait to write about her. I've never pictured her being so tall though, but I think her boots look really cool here. We'll see!

This (even without the text) is one of my favorite images. It's supposed to be a propaganda poster for the Vulfreich. I thought it turned out really cool, but again, I'd love to see a real artist's take on it. I think the text makes it even cooler (see below).
###
I was really proud of the text. I really like the Vulfreich. It's fun to write about: everyone has so much conviction. Yes, it's inspired by the Imperium of Man from 40k, but that wasn't the first inspiration: Legend of the Galactic Heroes' Empire is where I first got the idea, and I wanted to mix it with the passion of Saiyans from Dragonball Z. Turns out, that's super similar to the Imperium on its own.
I think the Vulfos are a really cool faction. I hope everyone enjoyed the Space Wolves chapters and wants more of that. I might even be willing to write a Vulfos POV character. Maybe an inquisitor or something.
I originally planned on doing 1-3 chapters for that detour. It came to me because I was having trouble finding a way to make the promise that "Yes, this is going to be a huge, cosmic conflict. There are big things happening." Writing Jack out of his solipsistic nightmare hole was a really trying challenge. I'm glad I wrote those chapters. I had a lot of fun doing it. I hope you had a lot of fun reading them and got something interesting out of it.

So, there's a look at what's to come and a little bonus information from behind the scenes. Thank you for reading, commenting, and reviewing! I hope to see more and more as more people give the story a chance and start enjoying it. Thanks for reading this "chapter" (more of a bonus article; I just wanted to try something). Enjoy the reading, and—
I'll see you in space, Private Eyes.
