Chapter 2 - The Five Generals

The "Five Generals" each consist of the best elves in their respective fields.

The first General is the best swordsman, the second General is the best archer, the third General is the best defender, the fourth General is the best assassin, and the fifth and final General is the best strategist.

The current "Five Generals" are named: Sirius, the Sword General; Beldia, the Archer General; Seon, the Defense General; Daria, the Assassin General; and Xenia, the Strategist General.

The first four Generals are clearly the best in their fields, but the fifth General, Xenia, is currently only the second-best strategist, alongside Jeremia Arcadia.

After Jeremia had seen the "Five Generals" from his balcony, he breathed a sigh of relief before gritting his teeth.

Jeremia Arcadia knew that the "Five Generals" stood no chance against the human army.

For by the time half of the army was reached, the "Five Generals" would have been finished.

But it wasn't the certainty that the "Five Generals" would die that scared Jeremia.

He feared that Gaja von Katzengold would begin the battle.

Because none of the Generals stood a chance against Gaja.

But Jeremia could no longer find Gaja.

She had vanished as if swallowed by the earth.

Where she had just been standing, only burn marks from a magic circle remained.

  Jeremia gradually relaxed.

The uncertainty about Gaja’s whereabouts weighed on him, but the survival of the Generals was his priority for now.

Calmed, Jeremia turned his gaze away from the battlefield on the horizon.

Just as he was about to leave the balcony, he saw Gaja sitting behind him in a chair.

"Jeremia Arcadia, the Emperor. Finally, we meet. No, better said: Finally, I meet the hero of the elf people. You are the man who saved the elf people from annihilation, and for that, I worship you."

"Gaja von Katzengold. You are the woman revered by all humans. But the abhorrent crimes your family has committed will never be forgotten by my people. All the elves who died in the massacre of the Katzengolds will never rest."

The tension in the air steadily increased until Gaja suddenly began to laugh loudly and clapped her hands.

The "Five Generals" fought bravely against the human army.

But no matter how hard they tried, the opposing troops seemed to keep growing in number.

The Generals were nearing their breaking point, second by second.

The situation persisted until one General met her end.

Beldia, the Archer General, was pierced by three swords simultaneously.

With her last strength, she placed hundreds of magic circles, each holding a mound of gunpowder.

With her dying breath, she ignited all the circles at once, taking thousands of soldiers with her into death.

The other Generals watched in silence, tears in their eyes.

Then, all of them cried out in pain the name of the fallen General: "Beldia!"

After she had ignited the circles, Beldia collapsed and lay in a vast pool of blood.

Only a few seconds later, Sirius' eyes darkened with rage.

The narrative has been taken without permission. Report any sightings.

He could no longer think clearly.

In his mind, there was only one thought: Revenge.

The other Generals tried to hold him back and bring him to his senses, but they failed.

Sirius pushed the other Generals aside and slowly drew his sword from its sheath.

His gaze was fixed on the human army.

As he slowly approached the army and drew his sword, once his sword left the sheath, he suddenly vanished.

Ten seconds later, about one hundred heads fell, and Sirius stood behind the headless bodies.

He had used his most powerful ability: "Hundred in one strike."

The battle, which had previously seemed hopeless, began to turn.

  Now only 9,450 soldiers remained.

  Could the Generals still win?

Jeremia and Gaja maintained eye contact, neither of them wanting to move first.

  Then Gaja spoke:

"Jeremia Arcadia, Emperor of the Arcadia Empire and half-human. I know everything about you, everything and everyone you have lost. Everything that has happened to you is the fault of my family."

"No, Gaja, you know nothing about me. Not even the slightest thing."

"What? What are you talking about? I’ve studied you for years, just to bring you down."

"That may be true, but you're mistaken if you think you know everything and everyone I’ve lost. But before you attack me now, let me tell you my story."

It all began exactly three hundred and twenty years ago.

In the year 132 before the Devil's Calendar, I was born in the city of Pru?teria in the land of humans.

My mother didn’t want me and left me somewhere on the roadside.

There I lay, until a traveler picked me up.

Although I wasn’t his child, the traveler took me on his journeys to the Land of Angels, where he raised me to be a swordsman and strategist.

But when I was eight years old and arrived in the Angel Empire with the traveler, he was pierced before my eyes by an angel’s wing.

At that time, I was too young to understand the reason for the angels' actions.

But eventually, it became clear to me that the angels viewed humans as inferior and despicable.

The angels left me disturbed, but they spared my life not because I was still a child, but because I was half-elf.

Eventually, I read in a book that the angels regarded elves as the crown of earthly creatures.

When this view of the angels became known, humans developed a perverse hatred for the elves.

I too lived a hard life, being expelled from the University of Magic and Swordsmanship and hunted through cities.

I found no refuge, even in other human lands.

Therefore, at the age of sixteen, I made my way to the Land of Elves.

The journey there was rocky and difficult, but when I finally reached the Elf Empire, I was received like a long-lost son.

I lived there for 115 years in peace and harmony.

But just before my 132nd birthday, the "Devil's Massacre of the Elves" began.

All the humans I had known over the years – my first wife, my first four children, my family and friends – died before my eyes.

Just before almost all the elves in the Elf Empire perished, it happened.

A rift of chaos tore my soul.

The magic I had accumulated over decades was released.

I lost consciousness and destroyed the entire Elf Empire.

All the trees, mountains, animals, humans, and everything else, except for the remaining elves, turned to black crystal.

With this, I had initiated a new era, the "Era of the Devil."

The name "Era of the Devil" was coined based on the massacre of the elves and the disasters I had caused.

It didn’t take long before the remaining elves revered me as a hero.

After I was crowned Emperor by the elves, I established the Arcadia Empire on the crystal land I had caused.

A few years later, I married two new women and had a total of seven children with them.

But when the war began, I lost both of my new wives.

My children have been missing ever since.

"Now I’ve told you my entire story. With this, I can finally die in peace."

After a long period during which only the battle on the battlefield could be heard, Gaja suddenly began to laugh loudly.

"Ha ha ha! Actually, I just wanted to intimidate you a little, but I didn’t expect you to tell me your whole story. To be honest, I didn’t even plan on listening to your story."

In response to Jeremia’s speechless face, Gaja drew her two swords and leaped at him head-on.

Once the other three Generals had recovered from the loss of their comrade, they gathered their strength and joined Sirius in battle.

While Sirius, Daria, and Xenia killed one human after another, Seon blocked every counterattack from the humans.

With these new chances of success, the "Five Generals" continued to fight for hours.

But after nearly half of the human army had fallen, a soldier threw a spear that pierced Seon's shield and also his chest.

The other Generals were forced to keep fighting, despite their defense having fallen.

Misfortune followed them until one human succeeded in beheading Xenia with a feint.

In horror, Sirius and Daria rushed to Xenia’s lifeless form.

They broke into tears and held her headless body in their arms.

Grief and pain were etched on their faces.

They looked into each other's eyes and felt as if they were filled with new strength.

As they gazed at the ravaged battlefield, they realized that "Xenia the Strategist" had prepared a devastating trap.

Daria only had to activate the magic circles, and Sirius had to drive his sword into the center of the large magic circle.

The two jumped from Xenia’s body and rushed to activate the trap Xenia had prepared.

After Daria had activated all the magic circles, killing a few more humans in the process, Sirius drove his sword into the center of the large magic circle and triggered it.

The enormous magic circle began to glow before the light suddenly faded.

After a brief silence, there was a beeping sound, followed by a massive explosion.

The explosion killed all humans and elves on the battlefield.

The human army had fallen, but the "Five Generals" also lost their lives in this decisive battle.
