Chapter Eighty-six: The Dark Shadow
Enter the tomb! Li Ling held Anjing's hand and led the way forward, while Mandala followed behind, heading towards the center of the ancient tomb.
It was very dark in the tomb, with no lights or fires, only a strange smell that seemed like some kind of oil material when sniffed.
"It seems I can smell gasoline in this ancient tomb." Li Ling sniffed the air and said.
"Ah, I smell something like gasoline too." An Qi was quiet and couldn't see anything in the darkness, but her senses were extremely sharp.
Li Ling looked around at the dark and empty walls, rubbed them a bit, and said: "These walls are very smooth, it feels just like touching... steel."
"The ground under our feet is also very hard, unlike ordinary soil." Mandala continued.
"These seem to be some kind of metal, could it be steel?" Li Ling tapped on the surface of this wall, but there was no response at all, which meant that the density of this wall surface was very low. Of course, the lower the density of a metal, the smaller its hardness. However, Li Ling didn't think that the hardness of this wall would be low.
"Man Tuo Luo, try cutting through this wall." Li Ling ordered.
"Yes. Military execution." Mandala drew out a cicada-winged blade, swung it down in one motion, and sparks flew everywhere, making a very dull sound that was absolutely not clear. However, on the wall, there wasn't even a single mark left by the knife.
"It's too amazing." Li Ling couldn't help but feel a sense of wonder at this metal with an extremely low density yet extremely high hardness, for with this metal, many inventions that could not be completed in the world would now be possible.
Li Ling's mind began to doubt, was it a god or an undiscovered high-intelligence life form on earth that built this ancient tomb?
Or why did they choose Anjing to lead the way?
"Let's keep moving forward, perhaps there are still many things we can't understand waiting for us." Li Ling led the way with An Jing, who was relying on her memory to guide them.
This passage is only one hundred meters in length and at its end, at the mouth of the cave, there is an extremely large and strange cavern.
"Could this be where the biological skeleton was discovered back then?" Li Ling's gaze fell downwards, and below them was an empty space that seemed to resemble some sort of operating room, yet also somewhat like a tomb.
"Look quickly." Mandala said in a low voice.
Li Ling looked in the direction of Man Tuo Luo's pointing finger, while An Jing, unable to see anything in the darkness, could only ask: "What do you see?"
In front of where Mandala was pointing, in the corner closest to the wall in this cave, there is a pile of bones.
"It's a pile of bones." Li Ling pulled An Qi to this pile of bones and began to examine it carefully.
"Judging from the bones, these should be reptile bones, and the head is a bit like a snake's skull." Li Ling checked the fracture of the snake skeleton again and said: "This snake was pinched to death by someone seven inches away."
If a snake is pinched to death here for seven inches, it means that someone has been here before, but how did this snake get in?
Along with these skeletons, Li Ling also found sheep and wolf bones! They were all killed by humans who broke their necks. From the fracture marks on the neck, it can be seen that the force used to break them was extremely large, almost all of them died instantly.
Looking at these scattered animal bones piled up on the ground, Li Ling fell into deep thought.
"Attention! I saw a black shadow." Mandala rotated her eyeballs, searching for something.
Li Ling furrowed his brow, looking around, and indeed, in the search, he found a black shadow moving extremely fast. Judging from the shadow's body shape, it should be a creature about 1.8 meters tall, and what's more, it was walking upright.
"We're after him." Li Ling pulled up An Jing's hand and chased after the black figure, but it seemed to be particularly familiar with the environment here, leading Li Ling and the others through various passages.
The most surprising thing is that this dark shadow seems to have also discovered Li Ling and the others, but it doesn't seem to have any hostility towards them, as if it just wants to take them on a stroll around the ancient tomb.
When they were taken deep into the ancient tomb by the dark shadow, the three of them suddenly realized that they had no idea where they were.
"It's here," Anjing said suddenly.
"Here?" Li Ling asked in confusion.
"I often appear here in my dreams, although I can't see it, but I can feel it, right here." An Jing said quietly without finding the edge of her words.
"There are countless pairs of eyes staring at me, countless pairs of green and shiny eyes." Anjing was so scared that her whole body trembled, tightly hugging Li Ling's arm.
Li Ling grasped An Jing's icy hand and looked around. This was an empty room, devoid of anything, let alone countless pairs of eyes.
Just as Li Ling was puzzled, the black shadow appeared again, seemingly provocative looking at Li Ling and his three companions. Due to the darkness, although Li Ling's eyesight was extraordinary, because of the opponent's fast movement speed, he could only see a shadow.
"It's like an underground cave here, we're always being led by the nose, while they can take us on a tour of the ancient tomb with their advantage in this place." Li Ling sighed.
"Jun Zhi, do you still think this is an ancient tomb?" Mandala asked skeptically.
Li Ling actually felt from the very beginning when he entered this place that it didn't seem like an ancient tomb but rather a huge... spaceship!
Li Ling didn't know why he had such an idea, but when Li Ling entered this ancient tomb, what he saw and observed was that his first impression was that it was a huge spaceship, and it was a huge spaceship that human technology couldn't create.
"What is it? After we've walked through all these places, we'll naturally know." Li Ling looked at the black shadow that was darting back and forth in the darkness.
"But before that, we must figure out what this dark shadow is." Li Ling said, looking at the dark shadow peeking from behind a pillar.
"This black shadow doesn't seem hostile, it's just leading us in circles, as if to determine whether we have hostile intentions?" Mandala analyzed the situation.
Li Ling thinks Mandala's analysis makes sense and is worth a try.
"We are the indigenous people of this planet." Li Ling's first sentence was this, but Li Ling didn't know why he would say something that introduced himself as an earthling native, perhaps in the depths of Li Ling's heart, this black shadow wasn't a biological being from Earth.
"We have come here to investigate some things clearly? We hope to get your help." Li Ling continued.
The sound echoes in this ancient tomb, sounding particularly eerie and terrifying.
"We have no hostile intentions, we just want to come and clarify the truth of some facts. The skeleton of that huge non-terrestrial creature, and that broken arm that has not rotted for ten thousand years." Li Ling said.
Li Ling wanted to say something else, but that black shadow came out from behind a wall and slowly approached Li Ling and the other two.
