Festival of the Twin-Sun (Part 1)

  Knock. Knock. Knock.

I awoke to the sound of knocking at my door.

  "Nn... Yes?"

"I have been sent with a message from Her Highness Lucindell for Lady Mira. 'Lunch will be finished soon, so hurry up and get up here!' That is all."

  "Ah. Alright."

Lunch already! I knew I would be out for a while but that long! I cmbered out of bed and stretched for a few seconds, then, with some difficulty I managed to put on the outfit from yesterday. I walked to the door and exited.

I was already somewhat familiar with the yout of the tree, so it didn't take long for me to find the stairs and climb back to the dining hall. Luci was already at the door when I arrived.

"Hey there. You seem like you slept well."

"Yes, I did. Thanks for letting me sleep in by the way, I thought I would have to be awake sooner."

"It's fine. Believe me, we tried to get you up for breakfast but knocking and calling for you didn't work so since you're a guest we left you. I'm surprised the maid was able to actually wake you up now."

  "...I- uh, sorry about that."

"Don't sweat it, I understand how exhausting things must've been for you. The food's out, let's eat."

  "O- okay."

Am I really that deep of a sleeper? Anyways, lunch was a little different than dinner. Probably due to the festivities ter, the servants set out a few pots and pans of simple dishes and we were expected to serve ourselves. Despite, the simplicity, the food was delicious.

Luci and I grabbed our ptes and took a seat at an empty table. We ate for a while without a word. When we were both done, she broke the silence.

"So, Mira. Have you been enjoying your stay here in Pristel? Unlike some of the human or beastkin nations we elves are known for our hospitality towards our guests."

Beastkin? That's a new term. It's probably best not to ask though.

"It's been great, but I don't really know anything else to compare it to. If there's anything, I can say that you, Tahli, and everyone else here have been really kind to me. Thank you."

Her cheeks darkened to a slight pink color as she bashfully looked away and faked a cough. She turned back a second ter and her face was back to normal.

"W-well, as I said, we do try our best. That aside, you wanted to talk to the seer about having your magic appraised, yes? We can go see her now."

"That sounds nice. I wonder what I'll get."

We stood up and left towards the exit.

"It might not be a good idea to get your hopes up. I told you yesterday that being attuned to multiple elements was rare, but it's not like everyone has one. In fact, the majority of people can't use any. Only about one in five people can."

"Oh well. I don't think I'd mind it either way. Magic seems nice, but maybe archery or swordsmanship would be nice too."

"That's good. It's all up to you what type of career you choose. You don't necessarily have to be a fighter either. I've been thinking of leaving to become an adventurer for a while now, but you could always fish, or be a smith, or anything else."

"Yeah. I guess you're right. I'll keep thinking about it."

We passed the guards outside the entrance and walked towards the town square, where the festival is being held. It was a distance away on the opposite side of the royal tree from where I first entered. Apparently the gate I came through was at the back of the vilge.

What do I want to do though... I guess I could try some swordsmanship and see how I do. Maybe I'll be an adventurer like Luci. If I can get a good magic attribute I'll probably seek work reted to that. I can't really see myself doing much else, it just feels like I'm not meant for any odd jobs like smithing or anything. I'll probably end up with something like that though, so for now I'll just wait and see.

After a few more minutes, we arrived, and the pce was already packed. Unlike the rest of the vilge, the massive square was on the ground, and I already felt more at peace here. Luci guided me to one of the many tents set up around the area. It was on the smaller side, and when we entered there was a small stool with a crystal ball. A bell chimed as we came through the entrance.

"Coming!" A woman's voice resonated from the back of the tent, and soon enough, its owner appeared.

She looked human, but she had ears like a fox, and a tail to match. If it wasn't for the fact that all of her hair was white and she signs of being an elderly woman, I'd think she might've looked simir to the girl from my dream yesterday.

"My~ If it isn't little Dell. Come on in and introduce me to your friend."

"Hey! It's been a while hasn't it, Freiya."

"Indeed it had little one." The woman, Freiya, turned towards me. "And who are you?"

"My name is Mira. Luci here said that you could appraise my magic capabilities."

"Yes, I can do that, indeed. Step over here young Mira, and pce your hand on this orb. I'll begin shortly."

"Yes ma'am." I did as she said. The ball had a smooth, gssy texture to it.

She chuckled a little at what I said. "You really do remind me of someone I once met with how polite you are. I'll go ahead and start."

She pced both of her hands around the ball, and a purple light shone from them for a brief second and entered the orb. After repeating a few times with a look of concentration on Freiya's face, she stopped and the orb changed color to red. I thought this meant we were done, but then it changed to blue, then brown, then green, then purple, then white, and finally it stopped glowing. Freiya's jaw dropped and her eyes looked like they could pop out at any moment. After a second she calmed down and started muttering to herself.

"...no no no, it can't be... only he could... and- he's... he's dead..."

"Um, Freiya? What are you talking about?"

"N-nothing little Dell. Just an old woman going senile." She gave Luci a troubled smile. "Let's try this again Mira, I must've done something wrong on my end."

She put her hands on the crystal ball again and we went through the process again. The orb fshed all the same colors again.

"Miss Freiya? What does it mean?"

"You! What does the name Kenshi Ryuto mean to you!"

"Hmm? I don't know. It feels... familiar, somehow, but I don't remember anything from before two days ago."

"I see... I must've been mistaken then. You, Mira. You are the first person to have attuned to all six elements after he did. I expect great things from you, young master. Good luck on your future."

Did she just say I could use all six!? I hope I don't end up caught in anything too big in the future...
