Even the dead need Wifi

“Trust your instincts. The universe will guide you” the font was worn in places but I could still read it. Even if it was folded oddly in areas. It had lived for a few years in my wallet. Got it when I went out for dinner to celebrate. I took the promotion and the crew went out for Chinese.

Starting to doubt my instincts. Could it be wrong? Protection and guarding someone of importance. Thought I would be traveling by high class jets to exotic places.

Well I was on a jet.

A military cargo jet to be correct.

Tugging on the tight green shirt some at my arms as somehow the cuff curled against my bicep. Fixing it I paused and looked at the old ink on my arm. It needed some cream to make it look fresh again. Had to remember to pick up something when I got to town.

Toward the middle of the cargo hold was a large box strapped down. A coffin to be truthful. Why was I charged in protecting a coffin? Was it someone important who died in battle and I was their honor guard? I don't mind it. It's an honor and full of respect to do that for a fallen comrade. But this felt different.

Stolen from its original source, this story is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

The coffin sat to the side in the middle along with a giant box. Proper cargo on this time. The energy vibe I got was all weird and dark.

This went on for a few hours. A couple times we wobbled in the air thanks to winds but it was steady and boring for the most part.

Until I started to hear something.

  Movement from the coffin.

  Was this a joke?

A ha ha prank the new kid?

I looked around and I was the only one in the hold and the captain was flying the plane with their 2nd behind me in the cockpit.

The lid of the coffin shifted just a touch.

My blue eyes lock on the box of death as my muscles tense in waiting. In case something came out.

  I may have to fight.

The top moved more as a pale hand grips the side of it. Pushing it away a bit to make room.

I could make out a faint glow inside as another hand rose up with a cell phone in it. Then a head and torso push up. A mop of messy dark hair parted to reveal a round face and dark eyes. Small lips that were open before a rough voice broke the silence.

  A woman.

“Hey. What's the wifi password?” She asked.
