Chapter 26: A Different Premiere
April 1, 1992, this day is our Western holiday of April Fool's Day, and at the same time it is also an unusual day, because on this day we learned about the great "papacy" Song in our film history. Unfortunately, he was not one of our pure American people, but only a Chinese-American, but this cannot destroy his contribution. He pioneered an era in our film industry, and with his appearance, our films had a new direction for development. He is like an eternal sun that never sets, radiating brilliant light.
A History of World Cinema
The entrance of the Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, but a large crowd has gathered here, as well as almost all the famous and news media in the United States. However, today is not the time for the Oscars. Because today, next to the Chinese Theater, a luxurious movie theater will hold a premiere and a new film launch ceremony for a previously unheard-of film company.
Hollywood's Chinese Theatre represents a bygone era of glamour and sophistication. Since 1927, when it was built by Sid Grauman, the showman-king of theatres, this world-famous theatre has been a must-visit destination for visitors from around the world. The handprints and footprints of famous stars in the forecourt have become a popular tourist attraction. The Academy Awards were held here from the 16th ceremony onwards. Located on Hollywood Boulevard, Chinese Theatre is one of the most iconic cinemas in the United States. Many legendary artists, including Charlie Chaplin, have performed here.
In the forecourt of the Chinese Theatre, the cement is filled with hand and footprints of 238 famous movie actors from different eras and styles, from Marilyn Monroe to Sylvester Stallone. The earliest actor who left his footprint here was Norma Talmadge, who wrote a blessing message under her footprint: "My wish is for you to succeed."
The Walk of Fame on the sidewalk in front of the Chinese Theatre about two blocks away, is embedded with the names of famous actors of our time. This is the world-famous Hollywood Walk of Fame.
By 1992, nearly two thousand famous American directors, actors and other artists had left their names on the Walk of Fame.
Song Tang quietly gazed at the Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, not too far from the premiere scene, a heroic thought flashed through his mind. The protagonist inside next year will definitely be me, Song Tang secretly clenched his fists and thought to himself.
Today, Datang Film will hold the premiere of "Low Profile" at a location near the Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, as well as the opening ceremony for "Jurassic Park" and "The Shawshank Redemption". Song Tang looked out at the vast cinema, packed with people of all kinds, including reporters from various famous newspapers and news media, as well as many enthusiastic fans who had come to support the event.
Entering the cinema, following the service staff's guidance, Song Tang, George and his new work assistant Charlie walked into a bustling lounge. Inside, many guests had already gathered, and the on-site setup was similar to that of a banquet hall, also providing some space for these celebrities to interact.
As the protagonist of this time, Song Tang attracted everyone's attention. The people inside saw Song Tang coming over and some immediately waved their hands. Under George's introduction, Song Tang got to know many celebrities.
Song Tang was chatting casually with the crowd, while Charlie beside him attracted a lot of attention due to his excellent work ability and stunning appearance. However, when people saw that Charlie was Song Tang's assistant, they just took a few more glances at him secretly.
It wasn't long before the premiere was about to start, Song Tang, Charlize and the vulgar actors were seated in the first row, while the actors of the upcoming films "Jurassic Park" and "The Shawshank Redemption" followed closely behind in the second and third rows. As the director, Steven Spielberg sat on either side of Song Tang with Charlize.
George, as the general manager of Datang Film, represented Datang Film and gave a speech. However, George was tactful and only said a few words before stepping down, and the film began.
A vast and uninhibited grassland, welcomed the galloping of ten thousand horses, black armor, shining blades, sharp faces of knights, suddenly a golden Chinese-style five-clawed dragon rose up, swirling into the clouds, the sound of neighing echoed endlessly. On the screen, in Chinese calligraphy, were left four big characters "Datang Film Industry", this is the logo of Datang Film Industry, personally designed by Song Tang!
The film then takes off with Pumpkin and Bunny's sudden idea to rob a bank, featuring innovative cinematography, new situations, plenty of voiceovers and dialogue, turning violence into jokes, sex into jokes, politics into jokes, history into jokes. The film seems like one big joke, ending after over 150 minutes with Jules and Vincent's departure.
As the movie slowly came to an end, although the entire film seemed a bit awkward in terms of shooting techniques, it still left people praising non-stop. Just when everyone thought the show was over, at this moment, "Roar!" The dinosaur's roar echoed throughout the cinema, and with the sound, one by one, dinosaurs of different shapes and colors, Tyrannosaurus Rex, Pterodactyl, Sword Dragon... appeared on the screen.
"When our world was inhabited by colorful dinosaurs..." A short preview trailer sparked people's interest in dinosaurs.
Finally, it is a section of prison life and a section of philosophical narration and dialogue:
"The timid and fearful soul is imprisoned, hoping that it can make you feel free. The strong save themselves, the sacred ferry people."
"Some birds are meant to never be caged, for their every feather shines with the radiance of freedom."
Compared to the thrilling trailer of Jurassic Park, The Shawshank Redemption is undoubtedly more artistic. Although it doesn't have the same visual impact as Jurassic Park, it has an artistic and philosophical depth that the other film lacks. It reflects life in prison, giving people hope, freedom, and friendship.
The movie ended, in the luxurious cinema, after a moment of silence, suddenly burst out thunderous applause, whether it was the audience or the reporters, at this moment they gave the most enthusiastic applause to the protagonist Song Tang.
As the applause thundered in the cinema, Song Tang's tension suddenly dissipated into a smile. He knew he had succeeded. Overcome with excitement, Song Tang abruptly hugged his assistant Charlie, who was sitting beside him, and before Charlie could react, Song Tang planted a kiss on his cheek. Just as Charlie was about to get angry, Song Tang let go of him and started talking to Steven, leaving Charlie to stomp his foot in embarrassment.
But at this time, Song Tang, who was rejoicing over Charlie's misfortune, did not notice that his earlier movements with Charlie had been completely photographed by a reporter from a newspaper, which would later bring him a lot of trouble.
"Congratulations, Song, you've succeeded. To be honest, I'm a little jealous of you. You're really a genius. You know, when I first started filming movies, I wasn't as successful as you are!" said Steven, who was sitting on the other side of Song Tang.
"Thank you, Steven," said Song Tang sincerely.
"Haha, okay, buddy, you should get busy, we'll wait for you to finish dealing with these reporters before chatting again." Steven pointed towards the front where Song Tang was surrounded by reporters and quickly left.
Song Tang was furious at Steven's departure, secretly scolding him for being ungrateful, but Song Tang still had to put on a smile to greet the reporters who were rushing over.
"Hello, Mr. Song Tang, I'm a reporter from The New York Times. I heard that the film 'Low Vulgar' is written and performed by you yourself, is that correct?" At this time, one of the reporters who ran over first picked up the microphone and said.
"Yes!"
"Excuse me, Mr. Song, I understand you have a good family background, so why did you choose to be a director, which is such a tough profession?" asked a reporter from an unknown newspaper agency.
"Firstly, I graduated from the University of Southern California's School of Cinematic Arts, majoring in directing. Then, I really like this profession and also feel that my family background, which was established by my grandfather and father, does not belong to me now. I don't know if this reporter friend is satisfied with my answer?" Song Tang replied to the journalist's question.
"Thank you, Mr. Song, I'm very satisfied... May I ask..." Just as Song Tang finished answering the reporter's question, this reporter wanted to ask again when he was pushed out by a reporter who came from behind.
"Excuse me..."
"Excuse me..."
"Stop!!!" As the reporters beside Song Tang felt more and more, the scene suddenly fell into a fiery situation. Seeing such a situation, Song Tang had to use his killer move and hurriedly shouted loudly to stop.
