  The small lump of pebbles continued to stare dumbly at the text box updating itself in front of him.

  A piercing whine rang through Pile's head, driving his confusion out of mind completely. In fact it drove everything out of his mind, washed clean by the color blue.

  The screen paused for a few minutes, a lull in the chain of rapid-fire developments.

  ...It wants... Me? Who I am. No, I am me, you cannot have me.

  You cannot have me.

  ZAP. A merciless shockwave blew through Pile's mind, reading information as it went.

  Pile gathered himself and prepared to run as well as he could. The blue rectangle couldn't be reasoned with, he would have to take it down. A simple mud body would be enough for a strategic retreat, so he made is way over to the puddle of water he had spotted before the possessed tree's attack.

  But the screen followed him. Wherever he looked, it kept in the middle of his vision. He could see through it to a small degree, but not near enough to feel secure.
