Episode -4: Twin Worlds

  The year is 1965 in the Land of Earth. In a city to the west of Aisu Bay, a politician eats with his secretary in a fancy restaurant as a blond woman stares at him from the bar.

  Rodney: -we have to make sure we get this right, down to the tiniest stroke... What is it?

  Jill: There's... There's a blond woman over there looking at you.

  Rodney: Oh, really?

  Jill: Don't look!

  Rodney: She interested?

  Jill: That's not... She might be a ninja.

  Rodney: … How do you know?

  Jill: Scars. Light clothes. Quiet shoes.

  Rodney: … No. But... We're so close.

  Jill: Should I call the police?

  Rodney: … No. You know the plan. Just, get it done, sign my name, send it in Tonight.

  Jill: But, sir-

  Rodney: I'll deal with this. No matter what happens, get it done. We have to know, got it?

  Jill: … Yes, sir.

  Minutes later, Rodney is walking on the sidewalks of the streets as the blond woman follows him. Just then, a dark blue-haired man starts walking next to him.

  Buru: Don't look at me. I'm a ninja from the Land of Lightning. I'm here to save you from the one behind you. She's from the Land of Wind. They don't want your proposal to go through.

  Rodney: How am I supposed to trust a ninja?

  Buru: We're not all murderers. Some of us are on the good side. Look, you want a better chance at living? Run with me in a few seconds.

  Rodney: Run where?

  Stolen story; please report.

  Buru: Behind me. Now, be quiet.....

  The two make a sudden dash down an alleyway as the woman chases after them. After a minute, they end up in the nearby woods. The two men hide behind a tree, Buru covering Rodney's mouth from behind his back, as the woman searches for them.

  Buru: Stay silent. Don't move. Be calm. I've got you... That's it. Stay still...

  In an instant, Buru drives a kunai blade through Rodney's head, killing him. He then drops the body and the blond woman finds him.

  Kibamu: I took care of the secretary. Got her papers.

  Buru: I got his earlier. That's our part done. Let's go home.

  Hours later, the two ninja make camp in some large trees as dawn breaks. Buru pulls out a cigarette as he reclines and he holds it out toward Kibamu.

  Buru: I'm tired. Light me up?

  Kibamu: Sure like wasting chakra, don't you?

  She makes fires with her fingers, lights his cigarette, and shakes off the fire as he smokes.

  Kibamu: Is that really worth the extra weight?

  Buru: Go cope in your own way.

  Kibamu: … Gets to me, too.

  Buru: … I know... Do you ever think about who these people were?

  Kibamu: Someone who threatened our village. That's all I need to know.

  Buru: So does the Rock Village, but we're helping them anyway.

  Kibamu: They're helping us. We can't let anyone know about any village.

  Buru: I know, but they could've dealt with it alone.

  Kibamu: I think it's better that we come together like this. I hope it happens more often.

  Buru: Pfft! Right.

  He puts the cigarette in a metal case in his pocket.

  Buru: Good night, “Yellow.”

  Kibamu: Sleep well, “Blue.”

  The two chuckle as they go to sleep. Days later, the two approach a huge gate to a large city that's hidden by the trees, now with headbands on.

  Buru: What are you doing when you get back?

  Kibamu: Eating. Sleeping. Spending time with family. What about you?

  Buru: Probably gonna go drown in a ditch somewhere.

  Kibamu: Heh. Good luck with that.

  That night, Buru leans against the railing on Hokage Mountain as he smokes. Behind him, four incredibly large faces have been carved into the rock wall above.

  Buru: Maybe I'll do it tonight...

  He straightens his back, climbs to the other side of the railing, and holds onto its wood as he leans forward. As he looks at the rocks below, the wooden railing breaks.

  Buru: *Gasp!*

  As he falls, the cigarette drops from his mouth and his face contorts in shock and fear.

  Buru was given a funeral and Kibamu showed up.

  She was the only one.
