“The last time we saw you was tied to your commander’s desk with a piece of metal in your mouth. How did Jason like his present by the way?” I taunted smirking as Mikale grunted and clenched his fists.
“Enough to demote me to rescue,” he muttered and I chuckled glancing at Myra who was holding on to the kid.
“What are you rescuing,” I asked crossing my arms and standing slightly in front of Myra. He didn’t know about her abilities yet but he would soon. She was at risk to be taken by the Human alliance but maybe that wasn’t such a bad thing. They could help us in deposing the council.
“More like who. Several of our agents were taken as slaves to this place and they haven’t come back,” he said.
Myra grinned. “We have the same objective then,” she said.
“We do?” asked Mikale.
“Yeah. we’re freeing all the slaves from this place,” I said and he laughed.
“There’s over a thousand slaves kept under Morgan supervision. Be my guest but leave me out of it,” he said.
Myra smirked. “Your team is further inside. Why not help us here and then you can reunite with them,” she said.
Mikale grunted. “No thanks,” he said and started down the hall only to backtrack. And try a different way with the same results.
He came back smoothing his short hair down and muttering under his breath, something about damn creatures.
“I see the benefits of working together,” he said and Myra grinned. Did she know about the creatures in the other rooms? Could she read the future now too?
She grinned. “Almost,” she muttered and glanced down at Misty who was still asleep. Oh, she’d read the kid’s mind. Neat trick
Not my neatest one.
My eyes widened. Seriously?
She nodded and faced Mikale who was talking with Datha. More like flirting and I doubt that she liked the attention. Nero broke in.
“So you will help us then,” he asked, one eyebrow raised and Mikale sighed, nodding.
“How do you plan to release several hundred slaves?” he asked rolling his eyes.
“I was saying that I could make a massive unlocking array on the cages and the slaves could walk out on their own well the ones that are able to,” I said.
Myra nodded. “I can heal those that can’t,” she said shifting Misty.
“Everyone else can help the slaves out of their cages,” I said.

“Wait, these slaves have chains attaching them to the bars of the cages,” said Mikale. “They’re magical chains.”
“Not a problem. My spell should rewrite those. I’m pretty sure they’re your basic control chains,” I said smirking.
Myra grinned. “How long would this take you,” she asked.
“An hour tops but Niran is Medium. He can help me and we should be done in fifteen then,” I said scratching my chin. I wondered if I’d always remain hairless. None of the Kin I knew had a beard except the King. Well, he was family so I guess it was possible. Myra chuckled waking Misty gently and setting her beside Datha.
“Anything I can do to help out?” she asked.
I shook my head. “You’re going to be healing the slaves My. I think that’s a big enough job,” I said smiling as she pouted. I had to be able to do something! She had all these powers. If I was going to be a sidekick I’d be a useful one! Besides this was cake. I really didn’t need Niran’s help but we needed to hurry up. I had a feeling that things were about to turn south on us. Quick. We had to liberate these slaves fast. There were others trapped here as well counting Mikale’s friends and partners. Niran and I made the unsealing array and painted it on every door. For that Nero summoned his other selves and they took care of the hundreds of cages at once. It tired him slightly and I could see the sleepy gaze he cast Datha who was asking him how he was able to do such a thing.
“I am a Watcher,” was all he said and I grinned at Datha’s surprised face. She had never met another like herself, let alone a male other than me, and I was a Seer not a Watcher. I placed the last rune in the long string of runes Niran and I had made and started chanting.
“Open locked doors, Open sealed gates, break those binding chains, untoward the ending of the days.”
A white smoky strand separated into hundreds and flew toward the painted seals. The cages glowed and several slaves screamed. A loud sound of unlocking filled the room and the cages opened. One slave opened his eyes and found his cage door open. The shackles binding his feet to the bars were gone and he slowly crawled out of his cage afraid. Myra was there with a soft smile on her face and an offering hand.
“You’re free,” she said. All of you.”
I smirked as several slaves tried to do the same thing expecting a trap and finding none. There was a cheer then another and another until the cave vibrated with them. I was afraid of unwanted attention but Myra smiled and began healing those stuck in their cages. We did the same for the first room and the slaves thanked us. Myra undid the troublesome collars of the Hybrids and they cried as they felt their power for once. They stood at the entrance lost and I recognized the problem before the others.
“You have nowhere to go do you?” I asked.
A woman shook her head. “No, my lord we don’t.”
I winced. “Why not join the alliance?” Myra prepositioned and glanced at Mikale who looked pole-axed.
“We can’t handle an influx of hundreds of people! We’re not ready for that amount!” he said.
“Doesn’t Jason need more men and women,” I asked and he nodded.
I pointed to the slaves. “A veritable army right there.”
“Many are freed hybrids,” said Myra. “They have nowhere to go and the alliance is supposed to protect them too.”
“I-I need to make a call to headquarters about this!” he said.
‘Go ahead. We’ll free some more while you call,” I said smirking and he whimpered taking out what looked like a runic walkie-talkie to me. Myra grinned and we walked back into the empty rooms and onwards towards the center of the mountain. Before that, there were two rooms similar to the first. Myra glowed orange and threw out her hand. The orange power wrapped around the bird and she touched its forehead with a golden glowing hand.
It was a woman this time. I did the array and freed the slaves while Myra healed the sick and undid the hybrid collars and like that two more rooms of slaves were evacuated. We walked towards the center of the mountain now. We were in a single file line with everyone holding onto a torch. There was a steep ravine and we were at the razor’s edge traveling a perpendicular path to the center of the mountain. What I didn’t count on when we got there was an empty audience hall.
