Right after VanKcrow defeated Ronaken, the ceiling turned dark and a golden stair fell down, VanKcrow climbed up the stair and went back to the surface, once he arrived..the scenery had changed,he was now in a desert wasteland, before him were two cages, in Each cage was a creature,One was quite large at probably around 10 meters or so,the other was around his size,The large creature had a mostly humanoid figure with large muscles,a stocky body and short limbs.
It's physique was somewhat similar to animals that evolved in cold climates.
It also seemed to be somewhat of an aquatic creature.
The smaller creature was similar to a oversized hound and had sharp looking claws,it had long limbs and a slender build.
It seemed more suited for the desert wasteland VanKcrow found himself in.
Both of them seemed to have almost metallic looking skin.
There was a bridge raised vertically and two levers before each cage.
There was also a crevice in the ground.
The Elderly voice once again spoke to him, this time saying,"pick one lever to pull, one of the cages will open and the bridge will lower."
"The goal is to escape the creature you choose to release."
After hearing the voice, VanKcrow spent a while thinking of ways to survive and eventually went back to the area were he had previously fought the creatures in the forest,Upon seeing that the corpses were still there, VanKcrow approached the Zombie that was spilling the poison he used to kill the Horned creature before.
He placed his sword in the creature's corpse and after a few seconds, the sword had poison in it.
He carefully carried the sword with him and went back to where the cages were.
After a couple of seconds, VanKcrow pulled one of the levers and let the large creature out.
VanKcrow was running through the wasteland as the Abomination chased after him,He had made a bet that the creature was designed for strength instead of speed and endurance, therefore he could have a chance at outrunning it.
If he had chosen the other creature he would very likely not be able to escape from it,and even if it had significantly less power and strength than the other one it would still most likely have enough to kill him without much difficulty, largely due to the extremely large and sharp looking claws.
As VanKcrow was running,He spotted a conjunction of leafless trees and started heading in its direction.
There was also an lake to the left side of the conjunction which led to a very small cave on the wall.
'The cave could maybe be a great way of protection against that thing, unfortunately by analyzing its hands its probably a better swimmer than I am'
The reason for this tought was that the creature seemed to possess webbed hands,
Like that of a merman.
He had also noticed that the monster seemed to possess an extraordinary ability to track and follow his movements and therefore was about to put an idea to the test.
The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement.
Just as he reached near a tree and was about to crash into it he instantly jumped forwards to his left and went past the tree, the creature however, unable to turn its huge body in time crashed straight into it.
Despite looking very frail the trees had not collapsed and instead held the creature back, VanKcrow had judged that they might be able to do that due to them appearing metal like.
In fact,he wasn't sure if they were trees or just looked like trees.
VanKcrow also confirmed that the creature's intellectual capacity was likely not high since it fell for such a trick.
VanKcrow then headed in the direction of a tree with a long and thick branch at about 8 meters tall,as he went under the branch the monster hit its head into it and was again slowed down.
He also noticed that the webbed parts of its hand between the pinky and ring finger seemed to now carry an injury somehow, maybe it collided with the sharp thin branches, he kept going left since it had the most concentration of trees and eventually realized that the temperature was heating up drastically in a small amount of time.
He deliberately went even more to the left and the heat just kept increasing,He felt exhausted and on the brim of collapsing, but he didn't.
After all humans were specialized in endurance and enduring heat, the monster however,
'As I theorized,it's adaptability to humid and cold environments makes it less proficient at dealing with such a long run through the desert'
(VanKcrow might be a homunculus, but without his special bloodline he is just at peak human level.)
The being was now kneeling on the floor with an exhausted appearance.
VanKcrow wasted no time and made sure to increase their distance even more until he arrived at a point where the concentration of trees was so high and they were so tall it would be difficult for the creature to spot him among them,VanKcrow sat with his back to a tree trunk and rested, for he could no longer run properly.
A couple of hours later the Nightfall arrived and he could do nothing but hope the creature wouldn't find him as he kept wandering through the Forrest.
VanKcrow got up and went to the hottest part of the conjunction of trees, it was so hot his shoes melted along some parts of his clothes, his feet were practically burning and his soles were getting somewhat peeled off,he walked so far the sand was now replaced by glass,he looked deeply at the glass floor and formulated a plan... He went back to were he came from with severe caution, this time however,he purposely avoided the conjunction of trees, after treading half of the way there was still no signs of the monster.
Kcrow was dragging a massive piece of glass he took from the glass floor at the furthest end of the conjunction of leafless trees, Fortunately the glass was just as brittle as normal glass and there was sand below it,once he reached the bridge he had crossed previously he started dragging the glass piece across it,it was an arduous process considering how tired he was and the state of his feet. But he accomplished it nevertheless, yet he was still not done as he exited the bridge and pulled the glass all the way to the right side,he crossed the bridge again and pulled the glass all the way to the left side. The glass was now completely separated from the bridge.
Kcrow sat down to rest and after a few hours he went in the direction of the lake.
Arriving near the lake he could spot a familiar figure up ahead, the monster was starring at him with its red eyes,it's long white hair dangling in the soft wind contrasting its dark skin.
It seemed to be in the middle of consuming an immense amount of tiny animals that resided in the lake, however it was now eyeing him like it had found more delicious prey.
The monster swam through the lake at rapid speed, considerably faster than its running speed.
'As I theorized,it seems it went back to search for a familiar habitat.'
VanKcrow ran back the to the direction of the bridge but this time he crossed the piece of glass instead ,the glass was very brittle and was shaking as he ran but thankfully VanKcrow only weighted 84 kg therefore the glass did not break,he had already reached near the end of the makeshift glass bridge and deliberately slowed down so the monster could catch up and when it was about to step on the bridge he jumped forwards and landed on the sand.
As for the Abomination, due to its enormous size the glass shattered the moment it stepped on it and the being barely managed to hold on with its left hand before falling down,But as it struggled to get back on solid ground VanKcrow threw the sword as far as he could straight into webbed parts of the creature's hand that had an injury, the poison from the zombie immediately took action and the monster's left hand went numb and it let go of where it was holding.
It tried to get up with its right hand that had managed to barely touch the ground but its weight was too much leading to it falling down.
After the fall it still managed survive but was finished off by the poison.
What looked like an abyss of pitch black darkness was actually hiding an ocean underneath it seemed, since he heard the sound of something splashing in water.
VanKcrow also noted that the poison seemed incredibly effective ,he had previously only poisoned the blade just in case ,but he didn't know if it would have a significant effect on the creature ,he didn't even know if a cut would find itself on the creature either, previously he had needed considerable more poison to affect the Horned creature.
The poison was of a type that took effect when coming into contact with blood or if ingested, VanKcrow had made a cut on the Horned creature with the blade he had used to cut the arms of the poison zombie, however that cut seemed to have no effect on it,which is why he decided to make a risky move to drop considerable more poison on it.
This time however, just a bit seemed to have been enough.
'I wonder if that Skeleton zombie had high resistance to poison...'
"You have killed the abomination,Yikusagi."
