The human looked confused over my comment about the others, he must have assumed it was just me and Mordred defending this place. How sadly was he mistaken. ~
He started to cause a huge rant towards me, his voice clearly sounding distressed. “You! What kind of kobold are you?! Exactly how many disgusting monsters do you have under your control!”
I lowered my weapon as I pull up my Follower list, since he couldn’t see it, to him I probably looked weird motioning my free hand in the air “Now let’s see….”
Seeing his opportunity my enemy started to rush towards me, but he was immediately stopped by a sudden wall blocking his path.
I wagged my claw in front of him, wanting to taunt him a little as I clicked my tongue. “Now now, kind of rude to interrupt someone when he’s trying to answer your question.”
I continued to examine the list, while still keeping track of my opponent’s movement.
“Now then, seems there are twelve kobolds, twenty-two goblins, ten wolves, five orcs, one bear Beastman, and the nice minotaur that’s currently playing with your men. That should round to about fifty minions and henchmen under my command. Does that answer your question? ~” I smugly asked, intending to further infuriate him.
The further down the list I explained to my enemy the more frantic the look in his eyes were as his sword hand was shaking. “F-fifty monsters…. And all of them serve this pathetic monster? It was already ridiculous to entertain the idea that a Minotaur would obey a kobold but to have even orcs as well. Do you plan on taking this town over as well?”
I chuckled to myself, finding his question rather amusing. “That’s right, and I must say I got to thank you all for giving me the opportunity to do so. Now then shall we continue, I would love to see how strong my new potential minions are.” I then lowered the wall back to the ground as I motioned him to come forward.
The second I did; the human continued his advance. Our swords connect as the sound of metals impacting echoed around the field. “I told you I will not be serving a lowly monster! I will cut you down you damn lizard!!”
This was starting to look bad; his extra [Strength] was proving to be giving him the edge he needed. The pressure he was giving off was starting to force me back, and it seemed I pissed him off enough to cause him to put more power into his attack.
No matter… I’ll just use this as an opportunity to see if I could improve my own [Strength] stat, if I’m right it’ll increase in rank if I push my limits!
….
Even so, it’s easier said than done… it’d take all I got just to keep him from fully pushing me back. I could already feel my grip on the handle already loosening, if I had to guess I got about a few seconds at most to keep this up. Seems I have no choice, I twisted my arms as I guide his blade to maneuver around my body as I quickly stepped to the side, feeling the strain from having to move my arms in such an unusual way. I doubt I’ll be able to clash with his sword like that for now. A disappointment really, I was hoping to-
…. Never mind, seems I got what I wanted. Veehahahahaha~
I decided I got what I needed out of this fight. It’s probably time I finished this up. After all Mordred should be almost done himself.
During the time I was fighting I managed to take a few glances at Mordred’s own battle out of curiosity. Compared to me, he was doing a lot better. Easily handling the multiple soldiers surrounding him as they swarmed him all at once, intending to overwhelm him.
Unfortunately for them, such a tactic was all too familiar to the Minotaur. A simple sweep with his mighty ax was enough to force them back.
He motioned them with his hand, taunting them to come at him. “Come on, give me a real fight already! ~”
There was hesitation from them, seems they weren’t as brave compared to their Captain. Makes sense, they probably weren’t expecting to face a strong monster like Mordred. That would reduce most people’s will to fight.
Seemed he was starting to get impatient as he began to charge towards a small group of them, activating his [Bull Stampede] to increase his stats, causing them to be pushed to the side and knocking a few unconscious while the rest were struggling to get back up.

Some of them saw an opportunity and decided to sneak up to attack him from behind. They managed to graze him, piercing through some skin and causing him to trickle a bit of blood through his fur. But this did little to affect my battle-crazed Minotaur who only looked back with a pleased look to his face.
“Alright now that’s much better!” He yelled out, fully enjoying himself.
Returning the favor, he countered with a swing from his own weapon. Breaking through their armor but avoiding causing any lasting damage. Glad to see he’s following my order to keep them alive. With only a few remaining, Mordred should be finishing up soon enough.
Now I just need to wrap things up on my end, I’ve had my fill now. “It’s been fun, but now I’ve gotten what I can out of this fight. ~”
My opponent readied his blade, expecting the worse as I raised my free hand and conjured a ball of fire using my [Basic Elemental Magic] and combining it with my Falchion Sword.
Seeing this, the human started to apply mana to his sword, enhancing its strength. He seemed ready for another clash of our weapons, but this time I wasn’t going to let it. With a thrust, I caused my flaming blade to quickly extend and splitting into prongs as they pierced both of his arms, the fire on each tip helping to weaken his armor’s defenses before it dispersed.
Having his arms stabbed caused the man considerable pain, forcing him to let go of his sword. Seizing the moment I quickly released my grip on my opponent and went after his weapon, at the same time causing the man to slip down by causing the ground beneath to go uneven.
With both swords in hand, I pinned my opponent down pointing both near his neck. “Now I think we can both agree that I won, don’t you think? ~”
He could only growl in response, but he didn’t deny my claim. Meanwhile, on Mordred’s side he had just finished off the rest of the soldiers. They either knocked out or still captured in the air, who had managed to witness a lot of how it developed and the look of anger they had before was instead replaced with fear.
Seeing this, I decided to bring them to the ground while still keeping their restraints on them and making sure not to take my eyes off of their Captain. After making sure everyone was restrained, I brought all the invaders together and had to call my minions to ensure the town was safe.
I was glad to hear that Damian had settled the matter with the other soldiers in my place and had them restrained as well. With everything settled me and my followers cheered in my success, as the townsfolk could only look on in disbelief. Later, I plan to properly accept my reward for protecting the town but for now we need to figure out what to do with the captured soldiers.

Now you think it would just be simple to make them all my minions. But this would be my first time making a human a follower, I wasn’t quite sure how I could get one to become one as from what I could gather it required them to be willing to in order for it to register on my follower list. Unlike us monsters, most humans don’t follow the same ‘Strong lead the weak’ mindset and as I’ve observed during my fight, they seemed too stubborn to accept as easily.
I decided instead to try a bit of convincing, see if I could change their minds in another way. I come forward to them as I began to speak with them all. Immediately, the Captain started to yell at me. “Like I said, there is no way we’ll ever serve a damn monster!!”
They all nodded reluctantly, despite the fear in their eyes. Heh, this might be easier than I thought. ~
“I still would like to make you all my minions. I’d rather we wouldn’t have to resort to any more unnecessary violence. After all, I would hate to have what will be mine to end up in bad shape. ~”
That comment seemed to only make their Captain even more infuriated. Before he could reply I continued. “I’ll make it simple; I’ll give you four choices. You could either all leave and risk returning to your kingdom to report your failings, have everyone but your captain become my minions while he reports back, captain can stay while everyone else reports back, or my favorite option you all can become my minions. What do you say? ~”
The captain seemed ready to voice another complaint, only for one of his soldiers to interject. “Y-you aren’t going to kill us, are you? ....” I shook my head, which gave him a bit of relief.
Another one of them started to join in the conversation, “I mean…. It doesn’t sound too bad of an idea….”
“What in the Inferno are you lot talking about?! Are you actually thinking of betraying the kingdom of Mivtic to serve a damn monster?!” I swear I would see the captain’s blood vessel if only his head wasn’t covered by his helmet.
“Hey now! You seriously think the king won’t punish us for this failure?! It’s not like we signed up for this!! H-hey little kobold if we follow you, you wouldn’t make us fight right. You’d keep us safe? …” There was small hope with a mix of anxiety coming from his eyes, it seemed my assumptions were correct.
I jumped on top of Mordred’s shoulder as I folded my arms, in order to show my dominance to them. “Do what you like, I only desire to have you nothing more. If you do not wish to fight, I won’t make you. After all a more wiling minion that wants to fight for me is a lot more helpful than one forced to fight. You can find other ways to be of use to me and I’d be willing to help you find it. ~”
Silence filled the air as the soldiers were contemplating their decision. The silence being only interrupted by their captain, who seemed flabbergasted over the scene before him. “Y-You all are seriously going to fall for a monster’s silver tongue?! Blasted all to Inferno, I’ll make sure you all will pay for this treachery!!”
“Oh, shut it! Serving a monster sounds a whole lot better than serving a pig of a man like the king!! Ok little kobold, I think I speak for all of us when I say that we’d be willing to be your minions.”
I jumped down from Mordred’s shoulder so I could look each man face to face. A smile formed across my mouth as I addressed them. “If that’s so then you can stop calling me a monster, or little kobold. I think it’s appropriate to call the one you serve something more respectful; wouldn’t you agree? ~”
In response, all the soldiers got to their knees the best they can from their binds. “Yes, my lord!!”
I then released the terrain bindings off their bodies in show of good faith “Good from now on you will serve me Vladimir! Veehahahahaha!!~”
