Damn it Damn it Damn it all!! This wasn’t supposed to go like this!! I always thought being an Adventurer would be easy! Just go out, do some basic quests like gathering herbs or hunting some weak monsters. Maybe I would finally Rank up and get paid more and get cooler weapons and armor. I even suckered some of the other adventurers to help team up for more expensive quests.

  But that all went downhill ever since we took that stupid goblin quest. All we had to do was to locate the goblin settlement and report our findings afterwards. We even went above and beyond and decided to destroy it instead. We even just about to exterminate those little green bastards too before we were caught off guard by a freaking Minotaur!

  I mean aren’t those crazy monsters usually holed up deep in that cavern?! What the Inferno was it doing out on the surface?! Whatever the reason we were definitely not going to face a B ranked monster when we all were D rank!

  I thought we were safe when it left but that’s when that damn little lizard started to humiliate us!! Especially me!! Do you know how expensive that sword you broke was, you scaly bastard!! You were definitely going to pay for that once that oafish bear took care of that Minotaur.

  That was why I was so surprised when I found out that you were here to take this town too! I would have laughed over how ridiculous you sounded when you announced that you would take over the world! I mean who wouldn’t, the idea of a little lizard like you facing all the crazy rulers in charge was just laughable.

  But I don’t know how you did it, probably tricked them or something, but you managed to get all these powerful monsters to obey you! There was just no other way you could have otherwise.

  Even worse you managed to get that terrifying bear to follow you as well, though I shouldn’t be too surprised, a beast following a beast after all. But I was more shocked on how you could beat him. It’s just insane, how could a weak little kobold get so strong?!! Where did you steal all that strength?

  So now this little lizard has control over the entire town! He even had the audacity to accept those invaders as well. And since he had his monsters hanging out around here it’s been difficult to take in any quests! They kept stealing all the good hunts from us and many of the citizens are too scared to make any other quests.

  And I wasn’t the only one who disapproved of him, I managed to gather a small group of us. We decided that we had enough and planned to ambush the little bastard ourselves. But we had trouble finding any opportunities to catch him alone. He was always surrounded by his little monster minions.

  We thought we finally had the opportunity when he decided to walk into the corner by himself. But it turned out to be a trap! The little kobold managed to capture all of us and so easily too! I just had enough, he already embarrassed me far too much!!

  By sure amount of determination, I managed to break myself free. I took the opportunity to attack the kobold and show it who’s boss! I barely remember what happened afterwards, but unfortunately, I seemed to have lost…

  I thought he was going to kill me after that, but no he just had to keep embarrassing me and made me choose either to stay and serve him or to leave. There was no way I wanted anything to do with a monster, so I left.

  I kept running, grabbing whatever I had left and out of that stupid town. Good riddance then, if they couldn’t handle their monster problem then it wasn’t going to last long anyway. But now I had to find out where else I could go.

  That’s when I remembered that kingdom that had tried to invade this place. I’m sure after their failed attempt they would want revenge on that town. I thought maybe I could help them, having seen what that kobold was doing with the town. I could give them some valuable information. And then... I can get my revenge on that little lizard!!

  But it’s not going to be easy. It’s going to take a few days for me to reach Mivtic and all I have left is this sword that that little bastard broke and I already lost my new one to him as well. Whatever, I’ll make it work somehow.

  FINALLY, I managed to make it to the kingdom’s borders, a lot smaller than I was hoping for but… I had to hide from a lot of them and could barely beat even those damn horned rabbits, got myself a few nicks as well… whatever I made it now. I just needed to speak with the guards and give them the information they’d need and make some coins off it. As well as get my revenge on that bastard lizard!

  I approached the border entrance only to be stopped by the guard, as he began to state. “What business do you have here?”

  “This is an urgent matter! I got information about that small town you had tried to invade the other week! Let me speak with your superiors!” I tried to plead my case.

  The useless guard simply stood there staring daggers at me, it seemed he didn’t believe me. So, I kept insisting. “I’m telling the truth! I lived in that town before I was kicked out!”

  After a bit more time persisting, he finally relented. He called another guard to inform their superiors. They were rather quick as I didn’t have to wait too long before some more important-looking soldier came along. He had a similar looking cape to the captain that was leading the invasion so I could tell he was high ranking. His armor had a lot more shine too and was probably made of a more expensive metal, probably silver or maybe even magic steel, I can’t tell. And he had a few gold linings stretching along the edges of his armor. He had a fully plated helmet so I couldn’t tell any details on his face but even I could tell he was giving off a menacing gaze towards me!

  He suddenly started to speak, spooking me. “I am the knight commander of the great Mivtic Kingdom, Tobias. Now tell me. I hear you have some information about that little town you would like to share, is this true?”

  “Y-yes, as I said I used to live in there before I was kicked out. I know about the monsters that took over and I need help to eliminate them!” My voice was nervous, just being around this man was too much to deal with!

  He stood silent for a bit, contemplating over what I was saying before he nodded towards the guard who finally let me in. “Very well, come with me. His majesty would want to hear about this.”

  I was excited, I’m going to be meeting directly with the king! He’s probably going to have a big reward for me for the information. Ooh I can’t wait!!

  As he led me towards the castle, I got a good look at the kingdom. It didn’t surprise me to see how the slums looked, broken down and dirty. I promised myself I wasn’t going to end up like that. As we got close to the edges of the castle, I noticed how it started to get more extravagant. The buildings started to look more expensive and high class.

  We finally entered the castle, and I was finally greeted with their king, he was…. Different from what I imagined him to be. He was a rather large man, to put it nicely. He could barely fit in his own throne, and his cheeks were as big as a ball. His whole outfit was just screamed luxury, adorned with several expensive accessories. He was slouching on his throne as best as his body could let him before he finally addressed me.

  “Tobias! Why is this lowly commoner doing within my presence!?”

  The knight quickly got on his knees as he spoke “I do apologize your majesty; this commoner has stated that he was from the town of the failed invasion a while back. He said he has information that could help us out.”

  “Hmm I see, very well state your information quickly.” The king demanded.

  Without a moment to lose I quickly described what was happening to the town, all the monsters that were inhabiting it as well as their strongest among them. They took it in silence until I finally finished my explanation before finally the king looked at the knight and nodded.

  “I see thank you for the information. Tobias, you know what to do. Give him the same treatment as the captain.”

  The knight bowed to the king “Yes your majesty.”

  He then led us out of the throne room, I made sure to bow repeatedly, thanking the king before following the knight. He seemed to be leading me somewhere deep in the castle. Probably so he could give me my reward privately, I couldn’t wait! We finally stopped when we reached the door at the end of a hallway.

  “Inside here” the knight stated, opening the door.

  I quickly obliged and went inside, excited to know what I would be getting. But inside, it was empty. I was confused and wondered what was going on, before I heard the knight speak.

  “Thank you for the information, you have contributed greatly to our growing kingdom.”

  Before I knew it, I suddenly felt a sharp pain through my chest! A cold blade was sticking out in front of me, coated in red. Everything suddenly went black as I felt my body lose its strength and my head hit something hard.
