Chapter 42: The Warning of Blood
Just as Jin Hu saw the target, a phone on an office desk in a nearby building rang. A man in his fifties picked up the phone and heard a voice coming from inside: "Hello Director! Please take a look outside, what a beautiful day!" Listening to the voice on the phone, the old man stood up and made a gesture towards the outside. The people outside immediately became busy preparing to locate the source of the call.
"What do you want me to see?"
"You'll see soon enough, it's a gift for you!"
The traffic light at the intersection turned red! All the cars stopped, letting pedestrians pass. Jin Hu led the dog, walking towards the crosswalk with a normal gait. When he reached the target car, Jin Hu suddenly swung open his briefcase and pulled out a gun, firing a burst of shots at the car. The sound of gunfire echoed loudly on the quiet morning street. In an instant, Jin Hu finished one clip and quickly reloaded. At that moment, a beggar threw away the paper cup in his hand, spilling coins all over the ground, and pulled out a submachine gun from under his tattered coat to fire at the target car. A man in a suit on the other side also opened fire on the car. The three assassins launched their attack almost simultaneously. Pedestrians on the street panicked, covering their heads and running wildly in all directions. Those with more experience lay flat on the ground.
Jin Hu fired another clip, looking at the three people in the target car whose bodies had become riddled with holes. He ran to the roadside manhole cover, stretched out a hand and lifted it up with one finger. Just as he was about to jump in, a dog's head popped out. Jin Hu cursed and scooped up the dog, sliding down into the darkness below.
As soon as Jin Hu arrived at the sewer, he heard gunshots coming from above. The two people who had been following him earlier were exchanging fire with the police patrol. The two of them slid down the ladder and one of them shouted "Split up!" before running in the opposite direction. Jin Hu held onto the dog and ran as fast as he could without looking back. The last one to leave was calm and composed, and had even prepared a smoke bomb which he threw on the ground before taking off in a sprint.
They walked to the first fork in the road, and the people behind them caught up. One of them asked Jin Hu: "Where were you originally going?"
Jin Hu pointed randomly at a fork in the road, and the person ran off in the direction Jin Hu hadn't pointed. Jin Hu hugged the dog and sprinted at full speed for five minutes before finally opening the folding space door, and as soon as it opened, he darted straight inside.
Jin Hu entered the warship, came out of the space folding cabin, and put the dog in his arms on the ground. He threw the gun on his arm to No. 1: "Put this away, send it to the island later." Before he finished speaking, he saw the dog urinating on No. 1's track. Jin Hu just wanted to scold a sentence, and then heard: "Warning! Warning! Intrusion warning!"
Jin Hu turned his head to see two armed personnel in uniform, one white and one black, emerging from the transmission cabin he had just exited. They were now clutching their necks, their bodies starting to contort.
"Get him alive!" Jin Hu shouted involuntarily.
"Sorry, Commander. This is the warship's self-defense mechanism. All non-Central Origin high-intelligence beings will be killed once they enter the main battleship. It can't be avoided."
Jin Hu could only watch as the two people struggled for a few seconds before they died. When the door reopened, Jin Hu walked over to the two of them and took down the guns from their shoulders. He then searched them thoroughly and found two more handguns, which he handed over to Number One: "Alright, throw them out now. The Explorer has already arrived at the destination, so I'll transmit it over now." After saying that, he looked down at the dog by his feet and said: "Next time, put this thing on the island together with me, don't leave it on the warship for two days to raise it." Originally, Jin Hu had planned to catch and kill the dog as a sacrifice in the morning, but now that it was so obedient, he felt a bit reluctant to eat it.
Jintiger's consideration for the dog caused chaos at FBI headquarters in Washington. The old man who answered the phone traced the source of the call to his own home, broke out in a cold sweat, and immediately dispatched a team to his house. Only after the team reported that everything was fine did he put down his guard. Meanwhile, countless agents entered the sewers, searching for any sign of the three assassins. Of course, Jintiger was destined to evade capture.
As soon as Jin Hu entered the foldable space door, six fully armed assault team members opened the manhole cover from the road above and jumped into the sewer. The captain divided the six people in different directions, two by two, one group to the side, another forward, and the last group followed Jin Hu to the warship. His four teammates walked a few steps, turned back, saw that two teammates were gone, stunned for a long time, came back to look for them twice, looked at each other, shouted into the walkie-talkie until they were almost hoarse but still didn't hear the two teammates respond. Since no bodies were found, these people cannot be considered martyrs, only missing persons. Their families did not even receive any consolation fees, and it can only be said that these two people are really unlucky.
All of a sudden, the sewer was bustling with FBI, police and various special task forces with police dogs starting a thorough search inch by inch. At this time, Jin Hu had already boarded the Explorer and was passing through the Panama Canal to Annapolis, heading back to Los Angeles.
The FBI's efforts were not in vain, and by almost noon they found the killer. An intense firefight ensued between the two sides. The killer's bullets were limited after all, and in the end he used a few hand grenades to blow himself up into a pile of minced meat.
The assassin on the Jinhu Road was too lucky, not only did he take the road that Jinhu had originally planned to take, but also because of a group of people jumping down from this side who were busy finding their teammates, naturally delaying the search time. This delay wasn't just one or two minutes, but a full five minutes. After contacting the command center, it turned out that this person had escaped to the ground and disappeared into the crowd.
Jin Hu is carefree, putting the dog outside the door, and this family also followed suit. Especially when they woke up in the morning and found that the dog was gone, they even posted some lost dog notices around the neighborhood. When the FBI reviewed the surveillance footage from the street cameras, although Jin Hu's face couldn't be seen clearly, the dog's head and face looking up at him from time to time were crystal clear.
The key is that in the eyes of the FBI, this dog still looks very close to the killer. When the killer opened the well cover and jumped down, he didn't forget to bring the dog with him. It can be seen that finding someone from this dog is also a good idea. So the dog's face appeared on TV. Immediately, enthusiastic citizens nearby reported the police.
As soon as the dog was confirmed, the elite FBI agents naturally began to take action. Four or five cars quietly approached the house, dividing into several small groups and blocking all exits. Two groups of people, one in front of the house and one behind, with the closest one holding a battering ram, suddenly used force on the door, and it burst open with a loud noise. A group of people shouted slogans loudly: "FBI! FBI! Don't move!"
This family was discussing how the dog on TV looked just like their own at home, when they heard two loud bangs and both the front and back doors were already shattered. Ordinary people had never seen anything like this before, and the whole family was scared stupid. A child of around ten years old was holding a bag of popcorn, mouth agape, having forgotten to put it in his mouth.
Seeing so many gun muzzles staring at his family, the male owner had just said a sentence: "Why did you break into my house!" Before he could finish speaking, he was shot in the shoulder and fell directly to the ground. A team member immediately pressed his face against his knee, put his hands behind his back, and handcuffed him. The two adults were taken away with handcuffs one after another. The man, who was used to being free, said to a team member: "I want to find my lawyer! I want..." Then he let out a cry of pain and bent down, clutching his stomach. He was then dragged into the car like a dead dog by two SWAT team members.
They were dragged into the building, and a group of detectives began to interrogate them. The man was locked in a small interrogation room, with one detective sitting across from him at a table, and another pacing back and forth behind him like a mad dog, occasionally adjusting his tie, looking very irritable, not at all like the charismatic law enforcement stars on TV.
"Is this your dog?" The investigator showed a short video to the man, who looked at it for a few seconds before nodding and saying: "It looks like our family's dog, but it was gone this morning."
"Do you know this man?" The investigator put the fake photo of Jin Hu in front of the man, and the man looked at it and shook his head: "No!"
"Why is your dog so close to him?"
"I don't know! La Fa has never been very sociable with others." Before he could finish speaking, a plastic chair flew onto the table, scaring the man into shrinking his neck. The investigator, like a mad dog, immediately grabbed his neck: "You still say you don't know? Three investigators were killed on the street today. You say you don't recognize the person who took your dog? This morning there was a shooting case and your dog went missing this morning. Someone took it away for one or two hours, and the dog would be so intimate with strangers in such a short time? Do you think we're idiots?"
"Brown! Control your emotions!" The detective who was sitting down pulled his partner aside, and then the red-faced one continued to ask questions, asking for more than an hour. After the two detectives left, the man had just let out a sigh of relief when he saw another two detectives walk in, continuing to inquire. Now this family finally experienced something even more profound than Jin Hu's, wanting to sleep but with something constantly buzzing in their ears, making it impossible to fall asleep, only here there were no noise-cancelling headphones for them to use.
When the FBI determined that this matter was a challenge to its law enforcement authority, this family had no right to hire a lawyer for at least several days. Even if they wanted to, there were hardly any lawyers who dared to face the wrath of the entire FBI at this time. They are ultimately the violent institutions of the state, and it is too simple to pin a name on an ordinary person. The people below the FBI have fire, but that doesn't mean the people in high positions do. They consider how they can preserve their current position while finding opportunities to gain more power, perhaps even taking some from others. This is the most critical thing, and some of them also understand the cause and effect of this matter, waiting with a smile to watch the show.
Jintiger arrived in Annapolis with a carefree attitude, and as soon as the security alert around Washington was lifted, he boarded a flight to Los Angeles. He sat in first class, wearing large sunglasses, took a glass of wine from the beautiful flight attendant, took a sip, and placed it on the table beside him.
