Hello, welcome to my new series. Here's a chapter to act as both my foreword and a dump of information like maps and other crap. You know how it goes.

  First, I need to recognize my wife for making this series happen. It went through an extensive rewrite that wouldn't have been possible without her help.

  Anyone who read a book I have removed from RoyalRoad (Summon the Great Spirits) might recognize themes here. I stated previously that I reworked that idea into something else, and here it is.

  This book is (in some ways) a study for me with a tighter cast. The cast here is extremely tight compared to Newt and Demon with the core starting off at only 2 other characters. We expand eventually, but I'm only up to 6 main side-characters so far. Which is a lot fewer than the 5000-some odd people I have to keep track of in N&D. This is kind of the refined version of that book where there's a clear goal and steps that are taken to accomplish that goal.

  Another thing to note: this book is EXTREMELY cozy. There are conflicts the MC helps out with, but they aren't far-reaching.
