Chapter 2: The 800-yuan purchase

Chapter 2: The 800 yuan purchase

After checking, Yang Yiwei hesitated for a moment and finally spent 800 yuan to buy it. He knew that cheap things are not good, but he didn't have enough money in his pocket, so this was the best choice. The configuration is almost the same as computers from 2007 or 2008, selling at this price is too cheap.

Watching Yang Yawei leave with the computer, the boss finally shook off the strange look on his face and put down the ticket in his hand. This computer was picked up by him last night, and he only roughly checked it out. He didn't know what specific problems it had, but this computer really couldn't be reinstalled or formatted. It looked like it was quite old, so the boss was afraid of breaking it. Seeing that it still had some configuration, he decided to just put it here for a quick cleaning before selling it off. Unexpectedly, even the cleaning was skipped.

Carrying the newly purchased computer back to the dormitory, the dormitory was empty again. Yang Yawei closed the door and hastily placed the computer on the computer desk, taking out a previous XP system disk. Yang Yawei prepared to reinstall the system. Who knows if there's anything indecent in this system? As for what the boss said, it can't be formatted, anyway Yang Yawei just pretended that the D drive didn't exist and reinstalled the system on the C drive, shouldn't be a problem, right?

After plugging in the power source, Yang Yawei started pressing the buttons next to the optical drive, but no matter how long he pressed, there was no response. A "clicking" sound came from the position of the optical drive, but it still wouldn't pop out.

"My god, this thing won't be broken, will it? How could I have forgotten to check just now?" Yang Yawei was filled with regret and didn't even bother to look at the laptop's appearance. He turned the laptop sideways and saw a recessed slot below the optical drive button. Yang Yawei reached out to try it, not knowing if he could pull out the optical drive. Even if he couldn't use it after pulling it out, at least he would have an excuse to go back and find that unscrupulous shopkeeper."

Yang Yawei spent half a day trying to pry it out, but at first he didn't dare use too much force. Later, Yang Yawei simply steeled himself and used more force. With a loud "ah" of pain, Yang Yawei not only failed to dislodge the CD drive, but also got his hand pierced by something sharp inside the recessed area.

"Oh no." Looking at the blood hole on his index finger, Yang Yawei felt like dying. He didn't check the almanac, was today a bad day for him to go out?

Yang Yawei was about to take his laptop and go back to find the bill, but a crisp "click" sound came from it, and the optical drive suddenly popped out a small gap. The small blood hole on his finger wasn't big, and now even the bleeding had stopped. Seeing that the optical drive was open, Yang Yawei suppressed the anger in his heart, sat back down in his chair, and then reached out to pull out the optical drive directly.

With a crisp "click", the CD drive was directly pulled out by Yang Yawei, and as he turned his head to pick up the disc with his other hand, preparing to put it back in the drive, Yang Yawei suddenly turned around and saw a fluffy thing. Yang Yawei's body shook violently, and then he reflexively jumped up and took a step back. As he did so, his left hand, which was still holding the CD drive, got caught on the laptop's power cord, causing him to fall to the ground, and the laptop also crashed to the floor with a loud "crash".

It let out a sound that made Yang Yiwie's heart tremble with fear, the laptop fell directly to the ground, it seemed like there wasn't much of a problem, it was still running, but when he saw the thing pulled out from the CD drive, Yang Yiwie wanted to die.

"I..." Yang Yawei's eyes turned black and he almost spat out blood. If that boss was there, Yang Yawei would have had the heart to slap him to death. What kind of optical drive is this? It looks just like a card slot! This laptop was originally from around 2002 or 2003, excluding the screen it's extremely thick, about 4-5 cm in size.

The CD drive was about two or three centimeters thick, and after Yang Yawei pried it open, he discovered that this thing wasn't a CD drive at all, but rather a small plastic drawer similar to a storage container. And the fluffy thing he had just seen was actually a gray-haired old mouse stuck in there.

"I'll smash your lungs!" It took Yang Yiwei a long time to get up from the ground with a speechless face. He knew that something cheap couldn't be good, but this was too ridiculous! Not only did you not drive it away, but you also deliberately put this thing in to block it. More importantly, when did a dead mouse sneak in here without anyone knowing?

Some depressed Yang Yiwei directly kicked the dead mouse under the bed with one foot, and then carefully picked up the computer from the ground again.

When it fell to the ground, the laptop was already closed. Picking it up and putting it back on the table, although it was still running, Yang Yiwei turned his head to take a look. The side of this laptop had a black hole the size of a CD drive, and the card slot had completely fallen out from the inside. No need to say, now even if he wanted to make trouble, there's no way. Without going, Yang Yiwei knew that old boss would definitely not admit responsibility.

Dry! Yang Yawei let out a depressed sigh, he had no choice but to accept it. He just hoped that the computer was still usable. Not checking the CD drive at the computer city was his biggest mistake, but he did check the system performance. If there were no problems with the computer itself, then he would just have to make do with it.

Installing the system can be done with a U disk, and not having an optical drive is no big deal. Flipping the screen back up, Yang Yawei just stood there, staring at the 14-inch screen which was no longer showing the XP system, but had transformed into a pale green background. What's different about this pale green color is that it wasn't a single solid color, but rather composed of countless lines of green code on a black background. This isn't the most important thing, what's most important is that this scene looks simple, but it's actually incredibly realistic.

Yang Yawei himself studied computer science, so he knew that the scene of countless codes flashing on the screen in front of him looked simple, but to achieve this level and make the full-screen code rotate, flash, and change in various patterns required extremely high demands on the graphics card.

Nowadays, top-of-the-line graphics cards above GTX 560 can do this, but isn't the graphics card in this laptop just an old integrated one?

But what's most important is that amidst the countless codes changing like a flurry of flowers, a line of Chinese characters in the middle of the screen keeps flashing: User confirmed, highest authority completed, instrument detection completed. Shall we start running? Followed by Yes/No.

What is this? Yang Yiwei was a bit stunned, could it be that this... was some kind of system left behind by that expert?
