Even though he was seriously injured, it was not life-threatening. The teenage girl admitted him to the hospital and started filling out the application for treatment.
The young lady at the front desk took the application, entered the details into the computer, set it aside, and asked with a straight face, "Madam, please pay the bill at the counter and bring it to me as soon as possible."
The teenage girl took the slip, glanced at it with a frown, hesitated briefly, and asked, "When will the treatment begin?"
"The doctor will begin the treatment soon. You just need to pay the bill," said the young lady at the front desk with an annoyed look.
The teenage girl bit her lip with a worried expression and hurriedly reached into her handbag to check for money.
Seeing that there wasn't enough to pay the bill, she sighed helplessly and held her head with a distressed look.
Suddenly, she remembered something, moved her hand to touch her earrings, widened her eyes, and hurriedly took them off, heading to the billing counter with a hopeful gaze.
After looking around, she reached the counter, placed the earrings in front of the cashier, and started pleading. "Sir, please take these earrings and give me the treatment bill. My friend is seriously injured; he needs urgent treatment."
The cashier frowned, looked at the earrings, then at the teenage girl with a skeptical expression, and shook his head. "No, we only accept cash, nothing else."
"Sir... sir... please, I beg you," the teenage girl continued pleading, refusing to give up.
"Little lady, I'm saying it again—we only accept cash. If you don't have it, go and get it. Don't interrupt my work; there are many patients who need immediate treatment," said the cashier, visibly annoyed.
The teenage girl, disappointed, took back her earrings and moved away from the counter. Her mobile phone had been taken and broken by the ruffians. She hesitated for a minute before hurrying back to the front desk. "Can I make a call?"
"Yes, of course," the front desk lady nodded.
"Thanks," the teenage girl's eyes lit up. She hurriedly reached for the phone, brought it close to her ear, and started dialing a number.
After a few seconds, the line connected.
A conversation between father and daughter:
If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.
"Who is it?" a middle-aged man spoke from the other side of the line.
"Father, my... my friend had an accident, and I brought him to the hospital. He needs immediate treatment. I don't have any cash with me. Can you hurry to the hospital and pay the bill?"
"Him? Is it a boy? Why have I never heard of her having a boy as a friend?" thought the middle-aged man with a frown.
"What's the hospital's name?"
"Napollo."
"Okay, I'm coming."
"Thanks, Father."
The line disconnected, and the teenage girl put the phone back with a relieved look. She felt as though a huge weight had been lifted from her chest. That teenage boy was in his current predicament because of her. If anything happened to him, she knew she would regret it for the rest of her life. That was what she thought at that moment.
Since he owned a car, the middle-aged man reached the hospital within half an hour. He hurriedly walked inside, looked around, and soon caught sight of his daughter. He moved toward her.
Seeing her father approaching, she hurriedly stood up and went to him. "Father, you're here," she said with a smile.
"How much cash do you need to pay the bill?" asked the middle-aged man while glaring at his daughter.
The teenage girl stayed silent for a second and said cautiously, "15,000 Rs."
"What?" The middle-aged man widened his eyes but still took out the money after looking into his daughter's eyes.
He moved toward the counter, paid the bill, and took it to the front desk.
"Wait a minute, I will enter the details into the computer," said the front desk lady. Soon after, she finished entering the data, printed a form, and gave it to him.
Both of them met the nurse, who took the form and informed the doctor. The doctor immediately asked the ward boys to take the patient to the operation theatre. Once they brought the patient, the doctor started the treatment without further delay.
"Now, tell me what happened?" asked the middle-aged man with a stern gaze.
While her father glared at her, she looked away, hesitated for a moment, and started saying, "Father, while I was at the market, a vehicle was going to hit me. That brother saved me, but it hit him instead, and he got injured because of me."
"You're okay, right?" The middle-aged man hurriedly looked at her face and hands, releasing a sigh of relief.
"I'm okay, Father. Nothing happened to me. If not for him, I would be dead. You have to help him with the treatment until he is completely cured," said the teenage girl with an earnest look.
Even though he felt something was not right, he still nodded his head, saying, "Okay... okay... Leave it to me. I will take care of the treatment until he is completely cured."
The teenage girl smiled sweetly after hearing her father's words, feeling as though a heavy burden had been lifted from her chest.
"Okay, I have some important matters to attend to. I will be back in a few minutes," said the middle-aged man, standing up from the waiting chair and moving a little further away from his daughter.
After a few minutes, the line connected.
A conversation between the middle-aged man and his subordinate:
"Sir..." responded the subordinate in a meek tone.
"I want to know what happened at the Erragadda Sunday Market in ten minutes," said the middle-aged man in a stern tone.
"Okay, sir." Soon after the subordinate finished speaking, the line disconnected.
The middle-aged man frowned, then immediately relaxed his brows. He slowly walked back to sit with his daughter.
She lied to her father. She fears that if she tells the truth, her father won’t allow her to step outside, and she doesn’t want that to happen. She is a cheerful girl who always mingles with her friends and enjoys going shopping with them. If her father restricts her from stepping outside, she can forget about everything and will have to stay home forever.
