Chapter 133: Reversal

Grandma brought a large group of people carrying lanterns to the back of the poisonous house, and then sat down at the stone table in the courtyard with a long face. "Investigate!"

At her command, Tang Ji led a few disciples into Hua Rou's room.

"Tang Shi Qi called out to her own people without hesitation, and those few people looked at Grandma and saw that she didn't object, so they immediately followed in."

In the east wing, Yu'er rummaged through boxes and cabinets with a bewildered expression, then retreated out of the room, casting an uneasy glance at Hua Rou who was standing in the center of the courtyard before quietly withdrawing to one side, secretly worrying.

Before long, several disciples came out of the west wing and placed one after another bamboo tubes, porcelain bottles, medicine boxes, crucibles and other objects on the table.

Tang Jing was the last one to come out of the house. He put down the poisonous scripture scroll on the stone table, as well as several pages of paper filled with writing.

"Grandma, I've searched everywhere, and these are the only things related to poison."

At this time, Zi Hua, who was watching the excitement in the crowd, saw the porcelain bottle he had put down and immediately nodded at Tang Shi Qi.

Tang Shi Qi saw Zi Hua nodding, and immediately turned her head to silently watch Tang Jiu Er walk forward, taking out the ceramic bottles and bamboo tubes filled with poison, examining them one by one before reporting back to Grandma.

"Master of the door, there is no red wolf poison in here, it's not Huajou."

  Tang Jiuer's words shocked everyone.

Zi Hua's eyes met Tang Shi Qi's with a hint of surprise, while Hua Rou's shoulders slumped upon hearing the words, her face revealing a subtle expression of joyful vindication.

"Are you sure there isn't?" Seeing the certainty in Zi Hua's eyes, Tang Shi Qi stood up and questioned.

Tang Jiuer raised an eyebrow and turned her head to look at Tang Shiqi: "Master Feng, are you questioning my judgment?"

"Hua Rou is a person in your poisonous house, once you have a mind to cover up for her..."

Tang Jiuer let out a cold snort: "In that case, please have Master Feng personally inspect it then. You may not know about the deep-seated poison, but you should still be able to recognize the Red Aconitum poison!"

Tang Jiuer took a step back, yielding the position in front of the table, but her face was cold and proud, with a sideways glance that clearly showed her disdain and contempt for Tang Shiqi.

Under the gaze of everyone, Tang Jiuer was so disdainful that Tang Shiqi's face turned red with anger and her neck thickened. She glared at Tang Jiuer, about to retort: "You..."

"Alright!" Grandma slapped the stone table: "Since you suspect, Fengzhū is willing to let you investigate, go and re-examine it then!"

Grandma Ming gave her a chance, and Tang Shiqi couldn't say much more, so she could only respond with a "yes" and go forward to re-examine.

She actually knew that the vase was the key all along, but pretending to be unaware was necessary, so she picked up each thing and sniffed it, touched it, before finally picking up the vase.

As soon as she got hold of the porcelain bottle, Tang Shi Qi's heart skipped a beat.

  Too light.

She pulled out the stopper and looked inside, but there was nothing in the porcelain bottle, just an empty porcelain bottle. Cop Tong Sik paused for a moment, stretched out her finger and turned it around in the porcelain bottle, but not even a speck of dust was found.

She was reluctantly looking for "evidence", but her actions made a flash of anger in Tang Jiuer's eyes.

Tang Shi Qi couldn't find any evidence, and she couldn't just waste her time here. She put down the porcelain bottle with a gloomy face, took a step back and said: "Master, there is indeed no red wolf poison in here, but it's also possible that she used up all the poison, so we can't find any."

"Feng Zhu, how can you utter such nonsense?" Tang Jiu'er stepped forward and glared at Tang Shi Qi, who also glared back at Tang Jiu'er without courtesy: "I'm just stating the facts..."

"Alright, stop arguing!" Tang Lei walked out again and pulled Tang Shiqi: "Shiqi, since Ninth Miss said there's nothing here, then there's nothing."

Tang Shi Qi's expression suddenly turned resentful, while Tang Lei stood in front of his wife and asked Tang Jiu Er: "But there is one thing I don't quite understand, why are there so many poisonous medicines in Huajian's room?"

Tang Jiuer's reaction was to roll her eyes: "Is it unusual for the Poison House's disciples' rooms to have rare poisons?"

Tang Lei smiled slightly upon hearing this and suddenly turned to face Hua Rou, sternly asking: "Hua Rou, what was the purpose of you taking Yu Xian's finger on May 4th?"

Hua Rou was taken aback for a moment, then opened her mouth to answer: "Medicine, making an antidote for 'Snake Kiss'."

"What about the dried mushrooms you picked on May 11th?"

  "Medicine is also detoxification..."

"Where did you get the poisonous frog paste on May 12th?"

"Medicine!" Hua Rou's face was calm: "It's the antidote for 'Bai Bu'..."

Tang Shi Qi immediately walked out from behind Tang Lei: "Hong Ru poison is made by Jade Immortal, Bai Cang Er, poisonous frog juice mixed with upper Ru powder. Hua Rou, you have a mind, using the banner of medicine making to actually make poison and harm fellow disciples!"

"I..." Hua Rou just wanted to explain, but was suppressed by Tang Jiu'er's string of cold laughter.

Everyone looked at Tang Jiuer immediately.

"Unexpectedly, a small flower like you can actually trouble the master of the house to remember what materials he took at what time so clearly!"

For Tang Jiuer's question, Tang Lei was well-prepared.

"This afternoon, the housekeeper reported that Hua Rou has recently taken out a lot of materials, too frequently. I just flipped through the book, so I remembered. It's not surprising for the disciples of the Poison House to take out these materials, but among the materials she took out, there happened to be materials for making red fern poison, which is quite a coincidence, isn't it?"

"If so, then the host must have also seen that on May 7th she took the Qiu Ming Cao, on May 13th she took the Grass Dragon Tail, and on May 14th she took the poisonous Luo Ba?"

As soon as Tang Jiuer spoke up, Hua Rou was shocked and looked at Tang Jiuer, while Tang Lei was stunned.

Tang Jiu'er stared at Tang Lei and took two steps forward: "It seems that the master of the house doesn't remember very clearly, why don't you go find your steward to settle the accounts!"

Tang Jiuer finished speaking and didn't wait for Tang Lei's response, she turned around to face her grandmother: "Master of the house, at the beginning of May, I taught Huarou how to make a dragon-killing potion, and asked her to find a way to counteract it. So, she must go to the family business room to retrieve the materials!"

Tang Shi Qi hastily said: "These words are still not for you to say now..."

Tang Jiuer didn't refute, she simply stretched out her hand and pulled out a page of Huajun's writing from the poisonous book, on which was clearly recorded the changes after trying several materials against "Jiaolongsha".

"Are you saying this is also because of what I'm writing now?"

Faced with Tang Jiu'er's questioning, Tang Shi Qi was speechless and unable to respond.

Tang Jiuer deliberately let out a cold hum filled with ridicule, then looked at Grandma again: "Master of the door, actually when I was checking the chicken soup rice just now, there were some words that didn't come in time."

  "Grandma raised an eyebrow: 'Oh?'"

"There is indeed red aconitum in the soup, but this red aconitum has weak and unstable toxicity, it's not a well-made poison. In fact, it's very possible that this poisoning was just a coincidence, for example, when stewing the soup, the cook might have mistakenly used something like yuzhang (a type of herb) instead of aconitum."

Tang Qiqi and Tang Lei's faces changed greatly upon hearing this, the two of them exchanged a quick glance, and were just about to speak up in their own defense when they were stopped by Grandma raising her hand: "Tang Ji! Why don't you go take a walk to the kitchen?"

  Tang Jing stepped forward: "Yes."
