Chapter 96 Back to Los Angeles

Chapter Ninety-six Back to Los Angeles

After a busy tour of the Americas, Ryan returned to Los Angeles, four weeks after the album's release, with sales approaching 2.4 million copies, an impressive feat in the early 1990s.

The City of Angels is Ryan's stronghold, one of the most concentrated places for fans, and also the last stop for his autograph promotion. Disney held a grand event, not only arranging a routine signing session but also having its Disney TV station broadcast the entire event live.

Stars who are close to Ryan and Nicole, anyone who could take time out, almost all came to the Santa Monica Place Mall, even if most people just stopped by to say hello, also attracted a lot of media attention.

Nearly 20,000 people gathered at the edge of the square's stage. If someone who didn't know what was going on saw it, they might think that some first-line pop star was holding a personal concert.

Similarly, there were also thousands of people waiting in line for autographs.

For this, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department had to mobilize a large number of personnel to maintain order. The vast majority of them were energetic young people, God knows what they would do in their excitement.

Dozens of journalists were waiting either under the stage or at the entrance of the record store, and they did not go in vain, taking many photos of celebrities.

"Look, look!" a reporter exclaimed, pointing at the muscular man emerging from the car. "Arnold Schwarzenegger! He's here too."

"Dummy, of course he's coming." His colleague raised an eyebrow in disdain, snapping pictures as he spoke, "Haven't you heard? Ryan wrote a special action script for Arno, and James Cameron is supposed to be directing again."

"Wow! Nicole Kidman and Jodie Foster!"

  "Nicki! Nicki!"

After Nicole and Judy Foster got off the bus together, the fans on the square let out a neat shout, obviously, they also had a good impression of their idol's sister.

  "Who is that handsome man?"

Someone saw a strange man following two beautiful women into a record store, looking somewhat unfamiliar.

"Brad Pitt! The male lead in Nicole's new play!" an informed source reminds.

"David Fincher, a genius director, is also coming. By the way, I heard he will direct Ryan's first MV."

"What about Drew Barrymore? She called herself Ryan's number one fan a few days ago, where is she?" asked the reporter.

In the record store, Ryan greeted fans who came to support him and discussed with a female host from Disney TV about the questions on stage later, reminding her not to ask too sensitive questions.

"Susan, don't ask about Tom Cruise again." he reminded.

"Alright." Su Shan smiled mischievously, "However, Ryan, don't think you can get off that easily."

Ryan could only sigh, the host of these talk shows, none of them were frugal with words, he came to Nicole Kidman's side, interrupting her conversation with David Fincher.

"Sorry, Nicole, I won't be able to attend your premiere."

"Dear, it's all right." Nicole gently ruffled his short hair.

After today's event is over, in just a few days Ryan will be heading to London for the book signing of "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire".

Nicole Kidman's new film "Dead Calm" will premiere in late February, and Ryan has to go to Poland after a brief stay in London, anyway he won't be back.

In the band's rousing music, Ryan walked onto the stage, and the tens of thousands of fans below erupted into earth-shaking cheers.

Ryan turned his baseball cap backwards, took off the microphone and walked to the front of the stage. With his right index finger pointing forward, he swept from left to center, then back to right, pointing at everyone in the audience. Every time he pointed in a direction, the cheers from that side would surge towards the sky, as if heaven and earth were shaking for him.

"Oh, I'm finally back in California, back in Los Angeles. I had prepared so many words to say and wanted to greet you all with the warmest enthusiasm, wave at you... but... I just can't do it!"

The room fell silent instantly, and many people felt strange, unable to understand why Ryan said that.

"Yes, I really can't! At least not now, not in Los Angeles, not here... because this is... my hometown! This is my home, with the people I love most, with my strongest supporters!"

Ryan's voice was slightly choked, and he looked really moved. The tens of thousands of fans below the stage also understood that the young man on stage had never forgotten that he was a Los Angeleno, one of their own!

All these people have forgotten that the boy on stage is not only a singer but also an Oscar-winning actor.

Nicole Kidman stood behind the stage, rolling her eyes imperceptibly, and only she knew that Ryan didn't have much feelings for Los Angeles.

"Alright, a thousand words can't compare to one popular song, 'Climb'!" Ryan beckoned to the band behind him.

After the songs "Climb", "Lemon Tree" and "Because of You", Disney's female host walked onto the stage, gave a brief self-introduction, and then handed the microphone to Ryan.

"Ryan, do you know how many people are here today?"

"Looks like it should be close to twenty thousand people?" Ryan made a sweeping gesture, then shouted loudly, "Are there ten thousand people? Let me hear your voices."

"Yes!" The thunderous cheers and shouts came like a tornado, sweeping across the scene.

"We all know you wrote and composed every song on the album, have you always had so much inspiration?"

"This is hard to say, actually many songs were written from the beginning of 90s, at first they were just some short fragments, later gradually supplemented complete." Ryan scratched his head, well, three songs are indeed like this.

"Now that album sales have exceeded two million, is there anything you'd like to say?"

"Thank you for everyone's support, I will work harder in the future."

Most of the questions were pre-arranged before going on stage, and there was no depth to them, making it seem like a routine task. However, some experiences and insights gained during the recording process were shared by Ryan at this moment, and the fans in the audience listened with relish.

"Alright, last question." The host, Su Xuan, winked at him, and Ryan understood that this should be her challenging question. "Ryan, you're already 12 years old, wow... just looking at your height, you're even taller than me! I want to ask, have you ever thought about finding a girlfriend? What's your standard?"

No wonder they say everyone loves gossip, even industry insiders can't escape the trend! Ryan really wanted to give her a pair of white eyes, but with cameras facing him, doing so would be too impolite.

  "No!"

  "Really?" The host asked persistently.

"My time and energy are limited, I haven't considered this aspect of things."

Many female fans under the stage let out a collective sigh, it's unclear whether they were relieved or disappointed.

After a brief interview, Ryan went to the dressing room to change his clothes and sat behind the table. George and a stout staff member stood on either side of him, guarding against those female fans who liked to make surprise attacks.

"Hurry up, hurry up, Gwynnie." Drew jogged along and arrived at the record store, only to see a long line that seemed to have no end. "Gwynnie, it's all because of you, why didn't you drive faster on the road?"

"Drew, don't blame me for this." Gwendolyn glared at him. "Who told you to drink so much last night? You didn't even answer my call in the morning."

"Alright, alright." Drew's eyes darted around and he suddenly said, "How about this? We don't go into the record store. How about we line up instead?"

"Queue?" Gwendolyn pointed at the long line of people, "Are you kidding me?"

"We're going to insert a team, don't worry, this is just a small matter for me."

As he spoke, Drew Barrymore walked up to the record store entrance, took a few steps back, removed her hat and shook out her golden locks, striking a pose.

  "Hey, handsome..."

"Ah......" The boys were initially somewhat impatient, but upon seeing Drew, they widened their eyes one by one, "Miss Drew Barrymore?"

"Right." Drew leaned in and whispered a few words into several of the boys' ears, successfully cutting in line.

"Look, look, it's Drew Barrymore, she's in line." Immediately a reporter noticed the situation and said "Follow up, maybe there will be a good show."

Wherever this girl appears in a journalist's mind, there is never a shortage of news. Even if there isn't any news, this playful and mischievous guy will create some.

Ryan still maintained his consistent signature style, after signing for a male fan, looked at the two girls walking up, and twitched at the corner of his mouth.

Which one is this? Drew Barrymore and Gwyneth Paltrow come to line up for autographs? They are familiar with themselves, and it's not easy to get a signed record.

"Hey Ryan, long time no see, miss me?" Drew came up and winked at him with a rather flirtatious glint in his eye.

Damn it! Ryan really wanted to say that, but there were still many reporters here, so she'd better get rid of them first.

"Alright. Drew and Gwendolyn, if you have time, go to the lounge and chat with Nicole for a bit."

"That won't do." Drew shook his head, placing the record on the table. "Ryen, if you would be so kind as to inscribe it 'To my dear Miss Drew Barrymore'?"

"Ah, and this one too." She picked up another record, "This is Gwyneth's, just sign it casually."

Ryan didn't have that American time and she chattered on, talking nonsense on two records, wanting to get rid of this troublesome girl as soon as possible.

Drew still didn't shut up, "Ryan, your cursive English handwriting is quite good, by the way, how's the script you wrote for me?"

  "Haven't even started writing yet!"

"Haven't you started writing?" Drew's eyes widened. "Ryen, this is what you owe me, you can't just say something and not follow through, can you?"

...The third watch, yesterday's debt has been repaid, tomorrow may go up Sanjiang, everyone support more...
