Killer Upgrades <8>

‘Kill him... I’m GOING TO FUCKING KILL HIM’

Hinata’s mind was screaming in rage, while Hinata was just doing her best too scream as her unguarded face was dragged through the damp red sand of the “Pit”.

Huge chrome hands gripped her skull with no restraint as the cold digits dug in painfully, the spastic grip slipping off Hinata’s wet hair and creating a small opening for her to pull away. Those uncovered metallic arms were massivly oversized on the woman they found themselves hacked onto, not that Hinata was in any better of a state, with her own gorilla sized arms hanging painfully by her sides.

Painfully... everything was painful here to the point that this much wasn’t worth mentioning.

Who ever tacked these monstrosities on had done so in an purposefully rushed and joyfully half-assed job.

Spinster- that would be The Spinsters work.

‘Christ, I’d almost choose to stay a night in the pit than be forced under that crawling war-crime of a Ripperdoc!’

She knew better than that though, that was just how everything went for a Maelstrom Doll. Yes, she was reduced to nothing but a Doll for agreeably the worst gang, and even at that, a Maelstroms Idea of “Dress-up” involves more chrome than clothes.

All of this ran through Hinata’s head, just with a lot less words and a lot more shrieking agony.

  Speaking of which...

“HRAAGH!!” She screamed gutturally, whipping one of her gorilla arms up more like a mace than a functioning limb, catching the other Doll clean on her neck and cracking it to the side.

The Doll fell to the stained sand.

Paralysed or dead on the spot, it didn’t really matter. The “Show” would continue “Until a fighters blood stains the wall and soil”, so Hinata dragged her arms over to the fallen foe stopping just before her head, and whipped bother arms up into one clenched hammer, spiking down with a strained grunt and bursting the Dolls skull open like some twisted pi?ata.

“Start tossing those bets out boys, we have a WIIIIIIIINNNEEERRRRRR!!”. Standing atop a small podium, next to a less than enthusiastic looking Caliber, mono-vision leader of the Maelstrom, was Spinster himself. As the one refereeing the match the only stake he had in the bets would be how many times he could take Hinata apart before she refuses to pull herself back together again.

  “Get ‘er in boys!”

Two large borgs dropped into the pit to carry Hinata out while the other dolls corpse was cleaned up somewhat. Neither borg was really needed, as the vital controls of each Doll was linked up to the other, so when one died, the others cyberware would shut down, but Maelstroms know better than underestimating the military grade cyberware grafted onto very cyberpsycho risked fighters.

Caliber had been pulled away for some talk for a merc called Gorrila, and her absence loosened the lips of more than one psycho. The gang was growing restless under Calibers control, and it seemed it was almost time for another play for power to be made.

Maelstrom heads usually don’t last more than a decade, and Caliber had overstayed her welcome by now.

Hinata was slammed down on top a clean steal desk, one of the netrunners taking a moment to shut down her systems totally, it was the only way to ensure a ‘cooperative’ patient because they certainly weren’t sparing the good drugs to knock her out safely.

‘I’ll kill him...’ Hinata’s thoughts were not on the Ripperdoc, she had long since abandond the blame for the Maelstroms actions. No, her mind cared only for the one who left her to die, who get her stranded at Night in NIGHT FUCKING CITY all because he couldn’t imagine someone else being better for her. ‘I will find that obsessive freak AND TEAR HIM TO PIECES’

Every mismatched part Spinster would remove, something he revelled in doing slowly, would overload Hinata’s senses with mismatched information, static digging into everything she could feel. Surprisingly, before Spinster could start taking on the most uncooperative cyberware he could get his hands on... a fresh face walked into the Ripperdocs room, a place that would usually be closed off to absolutely everything by the Ripperdocs orders.

“Change of plans here, she’s earned her way up a place to the high ranks, the Boss says, so kit her out with all the preem shit... oh, and reattach the main systems properly yeah? No use in a Doll who’s joints lock up due to bad nerve gear.”

He sat back in a nearby chair, probably ordered to keep an eye on things, and make sure there’s no obvious tampering. Spinster for his part just sighed before literally shoving his cyberware to the ground like the salvage scrap it obviously was, wheeling in a cleaner looking rack filled with shiny new tech, a full re-kit pre prepared for... whatever this was about.

‘Still no meds though’ Hinata lamented, her silent complaints petering out as she was rebuilt properly.

It showed how much of a strain all the ‘tweaks’ had been causing as just the quick swap to the connections had her visibly relax, not even mentioning how each limb surgically connected felt like a new freedom as they responded cleanly to even the lightest commands like they were flesh and bone. Each had a dozen functions built in, a full fighters kit you’d expect on... well an established gang member.

“The last guy got 7, so ill be fitting a whole 8 cyber-eyes in that dainty little skull of yours. Hah, they’d call you ‘Spider’ or something close... actually with the amount of cyber arms lying around gathering dust you might just be that yet.”

All the anticipation to move freely once again without the constant overbearing surveillance of the Maelstrom made the surgery fly by in mere moments for Hinata, Spinster pulling away to boot up her new optics.

Managing the 8 feeds... or really 4 as they were all paired up, wasn’t as difficult as she thought it would be. Certainly helped that she could choose to focus on the two ‘Main’ eyes to have mostly normal vision.

The other man, the one who brought orders for the refit watcher Hinata intensely as she sat up.

“Spinster’s given you the all clear.” He said, turning to glare at the Ripperdoc, who was still engrossed in analysing some of her feedback data. “Kill him.”

Hinata swung her left arm out, hidden blades flipping up from her arms though not mantis blades as they limit the strength of the cyberware, still freshly sharp and just long enough to sever Spinsters head from his shoulders.

“The names Brick, and I’m claiming new ownership of the Maelstroms.” The still living gang member announced, climbing out of his chair, “Follow me loyally and you won’t be fighting in the pit any time soon.”

Swinging her legs around and off the steal table top, Hinata took her first unobstructed steps in over a week.

“I’ll join... there’s just someone I’ll need to hunt.” she replied.

‘I’m coming for you Jack. And I’ll make sure you regret ever loving me.’
