Hugs and Arguments

Tim only had a moment to process Dick’s words before the winged man was darting forwards. Before he could move away, Dick was already squeezing Tim in a hug, six wings (when did he have time to gain the third pair?) enveloping him in addition to his arms.

“Don’t suffocate him, Goldie!” Jason Todd-Wayne called out. His hood was still on, his hair wisping underneath with the fog-like white piece standing out from the smoke, however both his domino and face mask were off. His eyes weren’t as dilated as Dick’s were now but they were still more than they were likely normally. His wings were like a fire, not literally (not currently anyway, Tim had so many photos of Jason’s wings when they ignited).

“I’m not suffocating him! Right, baby bird?” Nightwing asked, squeezing him even tighter for a moment. “He’s not wrong, Dick” Tim jumped in, slightly breathless. That might have been a mistake, because Dick immediately let go and started checking him over.

“Cease your foolish behavior at once Grayson! This is the impression you wish to impart upon Drake?” Damian Wayne (Tim was sure that there was another name that wasn’t public, he suspected it was tied to the League of Assassins due to some of his fighting style being the same) cut in harshly.

Damian’s hood, like Jason’s, was still up hair behaving in the usual smoky fashion, if not a bit sharper than the others. His verdant speckled black bat-like wings were flared out. His eyes were even more dilated than Dick’s, although they weren’t quite as large as Bruce’s were.

“Excuse me, young masters, but I believe that it is time to head back” a firm British voice interrupted before any further arguing could occur. Tim had only seen a couple of images of Alfred Pennyworth before, but the man looked no different than the images.

The only thing that even remotely looked inhuman was his pupils, which were slightly dilated (Tim was starting to question what exactly that meant), and even then it was barely noticeable. He almost looked too human.

Tim was fairly certain that Alfred Pennyworth was the oldest and most feared Judge, Assiduity. He was the only one of the original three Judges still residing on this plane of existence.

They weren’t dead, simply banished from the nearby planes of existence. Although it wouldn’t keep them away forever, it had kept them away for decades so far.

Salubrity and Enmity’s banishment coincided with the deaths of Thomas and Martha Wayne. He theorized that their deaths were actually an accidental banishment done by a lucky attacker.

With Alfred’s words, Bruce stepped forward and moved to close the distance between them. The shadows rose up and swallowed the group, leaving Tim with only a few seconds to grab his bag. Tim’s vision swirled with darkness as he felt his body dissipate into the void.
