Angus

“Even you smell like a dragon.” Laird Tokavaig said to Angus, “your father can shift for a short time, and your uncles and I are at your father’s keep enough that all of your animals should be inured to us.”

“Grandfather, you are a predator.” Angus rolled his eyes.

“So are you. Even humans are predators and horses let them ride them. There is a griffin and a tulpar colt sleeping together. Get a new horse.”

“Not the point.” Angus yelled. “You took me off of my horse in front of everyone and flew off. Father will be laughing about it for years; mother will pretend to sympathize but laugh behind my back; my friends will be jealous or fearful enough to never return to our keep; and I hate flying in your claw!”

“Your father sent for me; your mother is the kindest person I know; and I don’t care about your friends, or your feelings.” Laird Tokavaig glared. “Pull you head out of your ass and let me introduce you to your fellow students.”

“What?” Angus turned around. He looked at Erameya, smiled, and stepped forward. “Hello, I’m Angus Donan,” he said smoothly as he held out his hand toward her. When she started to take his hand, he pulled her into his arms and kissed her on the lips.

Erameya used the hand still by her side and punched up into his solar plexus, she then kneed him between his legs, then punched him under the chin as hard as she could with the hand she has jerked out of his. Angus toppled to the ground. “Laird Tokavaig, I am going to retire to that hill and meditate. Ailish, please take me.” Erameya said politely as she walked away.

“Be glad she didn’t use magic boy,” Laird Tokavaig roared with laughter, ‘She would have killed you.” Erameya heard as Ailish flew off.

She got to the top of the hill and sat down to meditate. While she was alone, she decided to take a look at her character sheet.

“I wonder why I got the one notification while not in the screen?” Erameya asked herself.

  The screen changed:

Notifications will appear when you are actively thinking about any statistic that has changed.

“Good to know. Can I make it so specific notifications stop appearing?”

  The screen changed:

  Yes No

  “Turn all notifications off.”

  “Princess Erameya?”

Erameya dismissed the screen and turned to Master Tokavaig. “Yes?”

“I believe I have visited your original world in my travels. I remembered it when flying to rescue my son from his demon spawn. While there I noticed the mana was so thick it was nearly impossible to cultivate. I believe your magical intake can best be described as: you were trying to drink honey through a straw; the honey was replaced with water and now you have a clean larger straw; thus, you are drowning because you haven’t learned to sip.”

“That makes sense but how do I learn to drink water?”

“We will have to learn that together. I believe you said you meditated at least once a day?”

“Yes, I meditated and did yoga every night and most mornings.”

“You were likely cultivating without realizing it. It is why you have been able to advance in cultivation so rapidly. How is your mana pool? You are glowing again.”

“Six hundred eighty-nine of three hundred sixty-eight. I am compressing it as tight as I can. I am also trying to drink in the mana only when my pool gets close to empty, then compressing it. My mana capacity has been increasing rapidly.”

“Is the way you check something you could share with me?”

“Maybe, let me see if I can project the screen.”

“That was easy.” Erameya said in surprise.

“I recommend keeping your attributes as even as possible. It looks like we need to work on health and stamina. As for the rest, it is a great way to display your growth. If I knew how, I’d make something like this for my idiot grandson. By the way, thanks for not killing him. I do love him even if he has much growing to do. It is time for you humans to get some rest. You and master Gareth did a good job setting up the cave. I will take the idiot … or not. I see your aunt is here. Let’s go meet her.”

“Aunt Elfie, thank you for coming. Duncan, thank you for accompanying her.”

“It’s good to see you child.” Elfie said and gave her a hug. “Master Gareth, Laird Tokavaig.”

“M’lady.” Laird Tokavaig nodded his head. “Thank you for the supplies. If you hurry you can return to the castle before dark.”

“Sending me away?” Lady Elfie raised one eyebrow.

“Yes. Erameya is still dangerous and my idiot grandson will try to seduce you. Then you will kill him.”

“What? I don’t kill children, just maim them.” Elfie laughed.

“Grandfather!” Angus looked appalled. “I would not attempt to seduce this beauty. I would seduce her.” He bowed over Ladie Elfie’s hand before kissing it while looking into her eyes.

“Lady Elfie, Angus Donan, Angus, her Grace the Dowager queen of England, Dutchess of Southern England. And if you think you want to seduce her, you should hear how she met her husband.”

  “How?” Angus asked with curiosity.

“She rescued him from a kelpie.” Laird Tokavaig said deadpan.

“A kelpie, I couldn’t defeat a kelpie. They are one of the most powerful of the aquatic races.” Angus huffed skeptically.

“She was dead when I arrived.”

“She was kidnaping a knight of my kingdom. Even though I was no longer the queen, I still care about the people. I stabbed her in the neck with a poisoned dagger.”

“That is the first and end of the story. It completely leaves out the fact that you sent a pixie and a wyvern for me while wrestling her in the sand and the water.”

“I didn’t know she was a kelpie, at first.”

“But you were able to get the upper hand and kill her with a poisoned dagger.”

“I’ll leave her alone.” Angus said as he backed away.
