Shrugging his shoulders at my wordless question. Ethan sat on top of the bar counter. His eyes locked in on Godric’s movements. As if my room was a familiar childhood hideout, Godric removed his shoes, placing them by the door. Removing his jacket and scarf next, he placed those neatly on the back one of the bar stools. Before he could greet me and allow Clarissa to catch the breath, she began holding the moment he walked in. Elloren spoke.
“Clarissa, do you choose this? Has Alucard explained anything to you?” Elloren spoke in a tone that reminded me of heartbreak. Heartbreak for Clarissa? Elloren has never taken an interest in Clarissa’s well-being before. What has altered?
“You mean the die or be killed part? Yes. I am thoroughly aware.”
“Do you choose this? To be without your soul? Without your power?” Elloren asked once more. Her fingers creating the outline of a fist.
Sitting down on the couch, crossing his legs ankle to knee. Godric watched Elloren. His ash blonde hair creating a veil on either side of his face. I did notice his clenched jaw. Godric? Clenching his jaw?
Dragging my eyes from Godric to Elloren, I replied.
“Are you implying that I would turn her against her will Elloren?”
“No Alucard. But you would turn her against her own idea of not being turned.”
Titling my head to the side. It is not lost on me the distain in Elloren’s voice. Is she upset? Why would she be? Why is her concern for Clarissa an annoyance?
“I do not want to be killed, so I much rather die.” Clarissa chimed in. Finally breathing again.
Moving from behind me. Clarissa went to the only person in the room she felt comfortable with. Ethan.
Patting Clarissa on her shoulder. Ethan whispered the question “Are you okay?” To her. Without removing her eyes from Godric, Clarissa shook her head no.
Authentic fear. Well informed fear is what shined in her blue eyes. Not lust, not desire, fear. No one that I have seen view Godric has ever given him such a look. She is not viewing Godric for his outside appearance. Non. This is the look you give a murderer, a beast, a God?
“And you were just going to turn her? Without asking me what I feel about it Alucard?”
Elloren’s tone maybe lower now, but that’s only to distract from the fact she is pissed. Pissed or not Clarissa cannot remain human. She is more than a medium. The same way Elloren is more than a necromancer.
“Then why invite her in the first place?”
Ignoring Ethan’s question. I answered Elloren.
“Elloren, you are here because I want to know how you feel about it.”
“Wrong. I am here because you have already decided on what you are going to do. You just wanted me to know about it. To convince me that this is the right way. The only way because you say so. Not weigh in on the choice.”
“Okay, I have decided to….”
Before I could complete my thought out loud, Elloren screamed.
“No. Just no Alucard.”
With Elloren’s hands no longer creating the outline of a fist. Her palms faced the ground. Summoning hands. Would she truly attack me? Non, nonsense. She would, however, attempt to block me. Her use of fairies would keep me busy. She could beat Ethan without the use of fairies. That leaves Godric. Would he intervene or would he let us settle this alone?
Biting the inside of my cheek. Am I really planning the fight between Elloren and I? Is this truly about me turning Clarissa?
“No. Leave her human. Leave her to be something in my life that is not connected to you and your vampire kingdom.” Elloren asked more so then stated.
“Non, not an option Elloren. Regardless of how you feel, leaving her unattached to anyone of us is a weak point.
“Maybe so. But attaching her to you in such a way is forever. Like you were saying earlier. Can someone really choose forever based off passing emotions and a single moment in time?”
Since my ascension, my sight allows me to see deeper into a certain level of emotion. Some of those emotions I will never feel, never truly understand. But it is my nature to know they are their and to use them to my advantage. However, in this moment for a moment I felt something I can only foreignly associate with Godric. Rejection.
“The Holy Trinities will use her as a possible vessel. A Necromancer and two bodies to be reincarnated into, or have you forgotten that? In the mist of being reconnected with the sister you never knew you had let alone cared about until now. Fleeting emotions Elloren work both ways.”
Taking a deep breath, Elloren turned, looking behind her.
“Clarissa. You choose with all your options before you. Become a vampire where you will live forever as a slave or choose to remain human, with your soul, with your power and be my sister.”
Rolling my eyes, I took one step forward towards Elloren. Before my foot could greet the ground. A fairy stood in front of me. Reign. Shrinking herself to fit into the confinement of my room. Reign still hovered over me. Blocking my entire view of Elloren. Reign’s gold and green staff glowing with magic. Pointed in my direction. I have met Reign many of times. Because of our association with each other she would not be easy to kill.
Reign is queen of The Forest Fairies. Glowing milky-way eyes that do not operate in the daylight. Blind, all Queens in the fairy domain are.

Her body is formed from vines and thorns, making nothing out of her grasp. Infinite reach. Reign is not only a queen but a warrior. Due to her warrior abilities, she actively learns about her opponent as she fights. She is the reason forest vampires are either slaves or dead.
Elloren once shared, that Reign chose to serve under her. Reign did not give a reason. She appeared one day during training and the rest is irrelevant.
Sensing the slow deliberate movement to her right. Reign held out her right hand. A dim ball of black and purple energies swirling in an infinite circle materialized.
Unlike most fairies, queen’s similar to Reign have no human resemblance. They lose the abilities to pretend to be a weaker race. Pointed ears with a black tip, swordlike teeth designed to bite through the toughest matter, limbs that are disproportionate, feet that are ever changing to capture their prey on whatever plain, and wings. Since I do remember correctly, Reign wings are a dark brown color. The feathers turn into poisonous branch bark pieces when discharged as a weapon.
“God of Destruction. Why are you here?” Reign spoke, without removing her starlit eyes from me. Her face did not consist of a mouth. By controlling the modules around her, she can create sound. By controlling those sounds, she creates her an audible voice.
“I will answer only after you explain why you have chosen to give yourself to this necromancer?” Godric replied. Indifference coating each word.
“We shall leave this encounter thirsty for knowledge.” Reign replied. Shaking the walls of my room with every sound she made. Her being here disturbed the balance of everything around her. Such a powerful entity.
Attempting to glance around her. I could hear Elloren waiting on Clarissa’s answer. Elloren’s heartbeat currently giving away her excitement that Clarissa is clearly contemplating her offer.
“Elloren this is beyond insane. Clarissa cannot remain human.” I spoke.
“If I must keep Reign here I will Alucard. It’s Clarissa choice.”
Taking another step, Reign forced her staff into my throat. Against my instincts I left her staff there. If her intentions are to kill me, then she would have attempted to do so. She is here for defense.
Using perfect vision, I could see Clarissa reaching for Elloren’s hand. Enough! Before the chance to remove Reign’s staff from my throat, came by. Reign foresaw my build up to action. I could see her do everything. The removal of the glass wall in my room. The protective barrier she placed around Elloren, the increased energy wave she sent towards Godric, and her staff changing into poisonous bark as it attempted to push into me.
The only thing I could react to, was the staff. Flinging myself backwards. I hoovered over the school’s courtyard. The staff did not come after me. The attack was to create distance. Godric caught the energy wave. Examining while smiling he said.
“Poison, how original.”
“How prestigious.” Reign replied.
Before Godric could react, the energy ball dissolved into his hand. No, his skin.
Godric’s entire body went tense. I could no longer sense his life force. The poison in his system quickly began hiding itself. Blending with his core self. But I could see it. Attacking him from the inside.
Attempting to reach him, Reign staff kept me outside by expanding into a glass like bark. Glancing around, Clarissa’s hand was firmly in Elloren’s. I could sense Elloren getting ready to move them both.
“Ethan stop them.”
“Elloren has me pinned.” Ethan replied. Struggle and pain in his voice.
I did not see the graveyard hands at first. They held onto Ethan’s legs locking them in place. Dead hands stop the flow of energy. Without the flow of energy, Ethan cannot transform into snake.
Fucking Elloren.
Using my telekinesis. I forced, Clarissa out of Elloren’s embrace and towards the bark window. Die or be killed. Those are her choices.
A screaming Elloren, pushed passed Reign’s protective barrier to chase after Clarissa. Reign removed the bark barrier before Clarissa could collide with it. Grabbing Elloren’s arm, forcing her back into the barrier. Regin took off after me. Her intentions to kill me showing itself in her eyes.
When Clarissa reached me, that’s when Godric reached Reign. Blinking twice, I could see no poison in his body. Nothing retraining him. Where did he learn a removal spell? Reigns poison is incurable. Or at least I remember it begin so.
Removing Godric’s grip. Reign used her staff to fight off Godric, while refocusing on me.
“Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck. Do you think you can put me on the ground?” Clarissa asked, terror running rampant over her words.
Me she is not afraid of, but heights have her one step from soiling herself.
Summoning a shower of thunder bolts. Dodging each one with Clarissa is no easy task. Between the dodging, Reign attacked. Knowing exactly where a thunder bolt would strike gave Reign the edge she requires to remain one step ahead of me.
No one on campus will come out here. They will excuse the thunder as an end of winter thunderstorm. While I am fighting for the immortal life of Clarissa it has dawned on me, that no one here is fighting at full capacity. Just enough strength to stay under the scope. If we went all out no doubt we would gather an audience. I doubt fully that Elloren has advised The Headmaster she can summon a fairy queen.
Barely dodging one of Reign’s punches. I managed a few quick calculations. One, I can not bite Clarissa while fighting for our lives. Two, Reign will kill me if I am unable to go all out. Third, Godric is going to kill Reign.
I could not feel Godric approaching. I only knew he was there when his graceful fingers circled around Reigns throat. Ripping out her voice cords. With her own staff, Godric stuck it into the Reign’s fourth heart. The fairy screamed in a note only the powerful could hear. I know this because only Godric appeared to be affected by this scream. His face changing into his unhinged one. Slits appearing on both sides of his mouth, liquid silver no longer describing his eyes. Shattering black is what I saw.
From inside my room, Elloren stood. Still inside Reign’s protective barrier. Both palms to the ground, white eyes. Necromancer eyes. Reincarnation eyes. I could see Elloren using her own power to pull Reign’s soul back.
Teamwork. Perfect coordination. Stopping a soul from dying is incredible. The level of trust Elloren has developed with Reign can only come from time spent and years practicing. Reign trust Elloren with her soul. When the fuck did this happen?
Soon Reign stood inside the barrier, next to Elloren. Smiling and summoning her staff again. Reign bent down in her attack stance. Arms low to the ground, staff hovering behind her and her mini sized brown wings. The vines and thorns of her body circling around like a snake den. With her eyes locking in on me, I can feel her blood lust attempting to paralyze me in place. Fortunately for me, I am the daughter of The Count. Blood lust is a vampire trick, not a fairy’s.
Smirking at her and allowing my vampire nature to take over. I readied myself for a fight. A real one, if an audience must come let them.
“Bite mistress. The fight is not worth it. When you kill her, Elloren will bring her back and it will be a different version of Reign. There are only so many ways you can fight her until she learns them all. Then what Mistress? Bite!”
With Ethan’s valid points winning the battle between my nature and my intelligence. I moved to bite Clarissa.
Reign took off after us again. Dodging Godric’s first attack. She circled back to him fighting fist to fist. Their sped is incredible. Gods moving in between my senses but not each other’s. I can tell Reign expected her staff to be enough this time. It seems she is not the only species that can learn to fight their enemy in real time.
Bringing Clarissa’s neck to my lips, I felt Elloren’s Dead Hands. They stopped me for a moment, but not long enough for Elloren to do anything about it.
Smiling at Elloren. I carried Clarissa up above the clouds. I could hear Elloren scream, and the presence of another fairy begin summoned. Unfortunately, this fairy is not nearly as fast as Reign nor as powerful. Sinking my teeth into Clarissa’s warm flesh, she screamed. By the time Elloren made it to my height with her fairy. She bore witness to Clarissa drinking from the slit in my wrist.
Elloren, did not scream, instead she mourned for her sister’s soul.
