Grave’s Call

Right before Ashley’s scythe for the chance to hit him, Pithand would use his fire to create a blast that would send him up. As he was up in the air, he sent a wave of it at her. Ashley didn’t have any time, the wave would land and send her flying back.

  “Ash!” Roper shouted.

Pithand got on the ground and chuckled, starting to walk towards Ashley with his head tilted in curiosity as he asked, “Did you really think there could be any other possible outcome? Foolish woman. This is one raging inferno that you can’t put out.

He stood above her, extending his hand and holding it out as a small fireball appeared on it. “One can’t kill a flame that’s already dead.”

He was about to swing the fireball down at her, when he noticed a green aura surrounding Ashley that hadn’t been there before.

“Oh?” Reese raised an eyebrow, still holding her hand as she looked at the scene in intrigue. “What’s this?”

The aura is presence was felt by everyone in the room. Their excitement for the fight that was going in front of them moments earlier became an overwhelming dread. Roper felt the hairs on the back of his neck stand up. He had never seen this side of Ashley’s power before. He looked around and noticed a couple of the creatures around him holding their hands where their hearts would be.

It wasn’t long before he was doing the same thing. He was feeling the same thing they were feeling.

  Death.

Roper couldn’t describe it. It was as if the very aura that was coming from his friend was feeding off the essence of him and the rest of the audience. He wanted to move but he couldn’t. He felt frozen. Trapped. It was like his soul was being kept in some kind of unbreakable holding gate.

Stolen from its original source, this story is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

Out of everyone there, no one was experiencing the deadly dread more than Pithand. He had fallen to his knees.

“H-How?” Pithand asked in a voice that sounded like he was choking. He had one hand on his throat.

After a few moments, the zombie felt a hand touch his shoulder. He slowly looked up. It was Ashley.

She had taken a gray skeleton-like appearance. Most of her clothing had changed. Her jacket was now black with the skull behind it being green and her tank top was now white. All while that menacing green aura still surrounded.

Roper, who took a few breaths beforehand as the effects had calmed down, called to his best friend, “Ash!”

Ashley turned to look at him for a moment. Then, in a flash, her head was facing Pithand again, this time the sickest grin on her face to accompany it.

“Guess even an undead inferno can begin to die out,” Ashley said. She looked over herself. She didn’t know what the hell this was, but she liked it. “Looks like the afterlife is full of surprises. Who woulda thought, right?”

She laughed in a way that made even Roper’s skin crawl. He had never heard her laugh like that before.

Ashley raised her scythe and swung it down, slicing Pithand’s body in half.

“Now that’s no fun, right?” Ashley grinned. “You’re a zombie.” She grabbed Pithand’s upper hand. “Let’s play a little more.”

She gave a kick that sent him up in the air. She jumped up herself moments after, disappearing then reappearing just above him. Using her scythe, she sliced him up into pieces. They fell all over onto some audience members and even one part onto Reese’s head.

Landing on her feet, Ashley gave a proud grin as she looked at the announcer. “I think that’s everyone. Where’s my-“

“Hey!” A familiar voice called. Ashley looked to see Lynn was not far from her. In fact, she was right next to Reese. “What the hell’s going on here?”

Ashley groaned and looked at the announcer. “Did you really have to bring this girl to the party?”

“Who’s is this, Ash?” Reese asked, looking at Lynn in curiosity.

“My good ole baby sis,” Ashley chuckled. She vanished, reappearing in front of Lynn moments after. “I gotta say, I really dig this look I got going on right now.”

“That makes one of us,” Lynn said, crossing her arms. “I don’t know whatever this is, but it’s dangerous.”

“You think I don’t know that?” Ashley asked. “You’re looking at the woman who faces danger everyday.”

“Last I checked, you’re not the only one, Ash,” Lynn narrowed her eyes at her older sister.

“What are you doing here anyway?” Ashley asked. “How’d you find this-“

The reaper woman suddenly stopped as she fell down to her knees. She growled as she clutched her heart.

“Ash?” Lynn put both hands on her sister’s shoulders. “Ash!”

Ashley didn’t respond. Her eyes just went dark.
