Now if troublemaker loses, he would have to use the gun on himself.
So, he was desperate to win.
That's why he decided to take the risk.
And surprisingly, he was able to deceive the professional.
When people are at risk, they make plans, most of them can't but some can still try and think out of the box.
Bull allowed Mike to win once before because he tried to keep his act natural. When the devices to detect PhySEC moves were placed, he acted differently.
He was less confident and that gave Mike a general understanding of that man.
Despite the man having experience, most of that experience came from being a cheater using his ability.
As for troublemaker, he was the kind of "play safe" all the time, now when the situation turned hard for him,
He made a change in his style.
Both persons were like an open book for Mike.
But Troublemaker was a hard-to-read book anyway.
One of those who you can't overlook a simple gesture, or you will surely lose.
Before the next round could start.
"Accelerate the game" Said the boss.
Then the bet chances became two for Mike and two for Bull.
As for troublemaker, he already had zero chances left, so if not winning a round, he had to use the revolver.
This time the fight was between Mike and Bull.
Mike's victory.
But the boss ordered the game to accelerate again.
Only Mike had two chances now, while the others had zero.
"1 one" Said Bull.
"2 twos"
Troublemaker turns.
"3 twos"
Bull pointed at troublemaker.
"Liar" He said.
And when everybody revealed dice, there were only 3 twos.
So, no matter what, Bull had zero chance of winning the round since while saying 4 somethings, Mike planned to say liar.
So, for the first time, Bull had to use the gun.
With doubts but not much fear, he got the gun and pointed it at his eye...
*CLICK*
But no bullet was fired.
Next rounds, to summarize.
Troublemaker won one round against Mike, he had no option and tried his luck, but it didn't work a second time.
Next round, Mike won against Bull, and Bull pulled the trigger again.
The boss ordered them to accelerate the game, now none of them had bet chances with the chips, only using the revolver.
Actually, Bull had to pull the trigger again when losing against Troublemaker again.
Troublemaker was hard to read.
As far as Mike knew, Bull's revolver had the bullet in the 4th attempt.
Time passed quickly, and finally Bull won against Troublemaker.
The guy had many doubts while pointing the gun towards his head.
He showed fear.
He tried to not show emotions, but still, the fear of death betrayed him.
"Is a normal reaction I think, he is not an ability user, how can he survive the bullet?"
But instead of pulling the trigger, he placed the gun on the table again.
He was sweating.
The boss didn't have to order anything, the dealer came to the table again, took the revolver, and aimed at Troublemaker.
The man showed no doubt while pulling the trigger and...
*CLICK* the weapon didn't fire the bullet.
The dealer left the gun on the table again and left, returning to his position.
"Crazy guy, he doesn't look much like a murderer anyway"
The game continued.
When it was Mike's turn, he doubted.
"There can only be one solely winner" He thought to himself for a moment before deciding.
Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.
And decided to let the guy try his luck.
"3 ones"
Now troublemaker had no options, Mike expected only three ones on the table,
And no 4 of something else also.
Troublemaker didn't show doubts and said "4 ones"
As for bull...
"5 ones"
The man was indeed an idiot.
He was once again deceived by a newbie, or maybe Troublemaker was not a newbie at all after all.
Without a second of delay, Mike said the word and everybody showed dice.
2 ones from Mike, one from Bull, and zero from Troublemaker.
Then the weapon again, Bull aimed at his eye and...
*BANG* The bullet was deflected.
The device placed before was making a lot of loud noise, which could not be covered at all by the loud sound of the revolver.
Bull aimed at his eye to see the bullet with accuracy.
And when looking at the bullet he deflected it with his power.
Just as Mike suspected, telekinesis user.
"Well well well... I lost then..."
The boss was laughing at the couch, like he was expecting it, but saw no surprise from Mike's face.
The boss was getting fun by the situation.
And it didn't matter for Mike, the more the fun he had, the more questions he could ask later.
Or so he thought.
Bull left the table, and nobody pointed out about the life bet.
Even the boss was not eager to lose him.
Telekinesis users were the most common users in the invisible mind variant category, but still, there were very few PhySEC users compared to normal humans.
So instead of scolding him for surviving, the boss would just scold him later for not playing better.
Now, the game table only had Troublemaker and Mike.
1 vs 1.
Mike at the start expected to play the final against Bull, not against Troublemaker.
Just who would think the guy at his right was more than could meet the eye?
And as Mike thought, the man was indeed hard to read.
The first turn was for Mike; since Bull lost, the next after him had to start.
Mike took a look at his dice and also took a look once again at his revolver, and at his opponent's revolver using his ability.
"2 twos"
The guy doubted.
He hid his dice and relaxed on the chair for a moment while thinking.
"You have 1 two, only one, I doubt you have another one"
"I have two, want to see them? Just say the magic word" He tried to tease the guy, but...
"3 fours"
The next words were a lucky try from the guy.
There were indeed enough fours on the table; no matter what, Mike had to try his luck.
"4 ones"
"Liar"
They revealed dice and indeed, there were only 3 ones, two from Troublemaker and one from Mike.
*CLICK*
Mike pulled the trigger quickly and after the "click" sound, he placed the revolver on the table again.
Such a quick and decisive action surprised the people.
"Such a cold blood!" said one person in the room.
They started the next round so decisive and without delay due to Mike's quick actions.
This round Mike lost again.
The guy had more luck than Mike, so he could only try his luck sometimes.
What he didn't know, was that the guy was also trying his luck too.
*CLICK* Still his actions with the revolver were quick.
"Is his heart made out of iron?" said another person in the room again.
Everybody was shocked due to Mike's actions.
"Damn! I better do my trick, I already played around too much, but damn, I don't want to kill the guy, a gambling addict is one thing, but this guy did nothing wrong"
Mike made a loud sigh and then...
"3 ones"
"..." Troublemaker doubted, he saw how Mike was quickly taking a look at his dice, not even paying any attention to it.
It was more like he was giving a random number.
"4 ones"
"Liar" Mike said the words even when the guy didn't finish saying the numbers.
And so, Mike revealed the dice.
2 ones from Mike.
And troublemaker still wasn't showing his dice.
"B-b-boss.. Can I take your early offer, I have the skills to do as your people told me..."
When the guy didn't finish his words, just mid-sentence, the boss made a quick glance at the dealer.
The dealer quickly moved and revealed the man's dice.
"Only 1 one, the victory belong to the mercenary this round" Said the dealer.
Troublemaker was looking at the boss waiting for a little hope to live.
But contrary to his expectations...
*CLICK* the weapon's 'click' sound was the only answer.
The dealer got the gun and aimed at Troublemaker instantly.
As expected of the dealer chosen by the boss,
He showed more cold-blooded actions than Mike.
"When doing a bet, you can't go back in your words like that when you know you lost" Said the boss.
"Sir Thomas Crane, my older brother, taught me that; he went to prison after winning a bet because the other man cheated"
He looked at the empty space while talking about his brother.
Like he was remembering something.
"And our father taught him that lesson, and I, as the manager in charge, have to respect his rules"
He looked at troublemaker again.
"What's your name?"
"B..." Before he could talk, the boss interrupted again.
"It doesn't matter, I will give you a new name later. Yes, since you accept the offer, I will accept you as an employee. But still, you had to finish that round, you know?"
"I understand, Sir"
"Good, so... Mike, right? Is your victory, congratulations"
"Thank you, sir" Said Mike, he was at least happy for the man, he was alive after all.
Playing another round, and the man would be dead.
Mike had his trick, after all, an undetectable one.
And the guy had no trick other than his hard-to-read face and actions.
Now, Mike won not only the game, he lost the transport, but he surely won something better.
Now the boss in front of him had to answer his questions.
That was the bet after all.
And looking at the decisions the man took, he knew that person would not go back on his words.
Sometimes, people in the illegal world have more word value than people in the legal world.
