Chapter 58: The Old Osmanthus Blooms
Entering the Ruyi fan, Song Wen first put the kitten and puppy by the poolside to soak, before stripping off his clothes and jumping in.
Under a strange rock at the corner of Ruyi fan, a weak stream of spring water still emerges continuously, although small, it is eternal and never stops.
Not far from the strange rock, on the ground that was neither dry nor wet, the so-called "ginseng" was planted there. Its originally withered body like a tree root became plump and increasingly resembled real ginseng. The green sprout on its head had grown into a small bud, but the leaves hadn't come out yet, making it impossible to tell what kind of thing it was.
On one side of the sweet potato field, long and large sweet potato vines crawled all over the ground, with sweet potato leaves looking lush and green.
A snail the size of a ring finger was already on the sweet potato leaf, eating away with a "sizzling" sound. The leaves were eaten to an unbearable extent. There were also small crabs the size of thumbs, constantly moving back and forth between the water pool and the sweet potato field. Occasionally, you could see a small crab dragging a small white snail to eat, and some small crabs were digging holes in the sweet potato field, eating sweet potatoes as thick as three fingers.
The Qingming dish in the corner of the sweet potato field was also not out of the small white snail's mouth, but compared to the sweet potato leaves, it seemed much better, and there were no small hill crabs digging holes there.
Song Wen soaked in the water, feeling the heat slowly dissipating from his body. He leaned back against the edge of the pool, only exposing his head, and savored the comfort of soaking in the warm water. Before long, he fell asleep.
The little cat that he put by the side of the pool felt something was wrong, woke up and saw it was the pool he had been to before, then relaxed.
Suddenly seeing Song Wen on one side, he jumped into the water and swam over to him.
If Song Wen saw this scene, he would definitely feel strange. When did the cat learn to swim? The little dog also woke up and saw the kitten swimming past it, ignoring it. It flipped over onto its back, exposing its belly, and stuck its head out of the water, enjoying a comfortable soak.
The kitten swam to Song Wen's side, originally intending to climb onto his head to sleep, but feeling too hot, it jumped down and lay on Song Wen's shoulder, soaking its body in the water, with its head exposed above the surface, snuggled up against Song Wen's head, and fell asleep comfortably.
A spring gushes out from under a strange rock and flows into a pool, stirring up some ripples.
Ripples spread from near to far, getting bigger and bigger, gradually spreading throughout the entire pool.
As the spring water flows in, the waves surge like a tide, not only on the surface but also underwater.
The surging waves were like a massage for the people, wave after wave surged towards Song Wen, the kitten and the puppy, just like a repeated massage, making them feel comfortable and sleepy.
Drop by drop, black specks like dirt emerged from their pores and were dispersed by the constantly flowing water until they vanished without a trace.
It wasn't until much later that Song Wen slowly came to, feeling as if every vein in his body was refreshed and revitalized. His flesh and soul had been cleansed, leaving him feeling incredibly comfortable, almost to the point of sighing contentedly.
The little cat standing on its shoulder suddenly fell into the water with a "plop" and landed on the water, meowing pitifully.
This little guy, when did you climb onto your own shoulder? Song Wen hurriedly stroked its head to comfort it.
This scene was just seen by the awakened little dog, who hurriedly ran over from the other side of the pool to fawn on Song Wen, then "yelped" at the kitten, as if mocking it.
The little cat seemed to be suddenly enraged, its two eyes instantly turned red, it opened its sharp teeth and let out a loud cry, not a meow, but rather an angry roar. Then it arched its back and pounced on the little dog like a flying arrow, scratching the dog's nose with one swipe of its paw.
Suddenly, the little dog's nose was scratched and streaked with blood.
The little dog suddenly became furious and barked loudly, angrily pouncing on the kitten. The kitten saw that things were not going well, so it quickly ran to the bottom of a strange rock and climbed up with a rustling sound.
There is a boulder as tall as a person, with four smooth and steep walls. The little dog can't climb up and can only bark loudly from below. The kitten, on the other hand, sits on top of it, leisurely licking its paws, seemingly showing off.
Looking at the two small things like this, Song Wen shook his head and didn't bother with them, sizing up the space in the Ruyi fan instead.
The space seems to have grown even larger, if it was suspicion before, now it's certainty.
I remember last time being surrounded by fog, only a hint of green was visible, but now the whole tree is exposed, with 7 or 8 trees in total, all are pines and cypresses, tall and straight, standing proudly, showing a noble demeanor, their bark is mottled, telling the story of years of vicissitudes.
The fog near the sweet potato field has moved away a bit, revealing about one more tenth of the land. Now the entire space is roughly six tenths or so, looking quite large. The idea of having Song Wen build a hut here resurfaced again.
The so-called "ginseng" on the side of the strange rock has already sprouted, and it seems to be leaning towards the real ginseng, but such a fat ginseng is really unheard of. Looking at the sweet potatoes on that ridge, I couldn't help but frown, the leaves of the sweet potatoes have been eaten by the white jade snails until they are all mushy, and those mountain crabs are even digging holes in the sweet potato ridge, treating the sweet potatoes inside as food, only the clear and bright vegetables on the other side are a bit better, but they are also starting to suffer from the white jade snail's poison, it seems that these things need to be moved to a different location, otherwise I won't be able to eat any sweet potatoes myself.
After taking a look, Song Wen took out the small dog and cat from the Ruyi fan.
As soon as the fan came out, the little dog pounced on the kitten.
Song Wen hurriedly picked it up and comforted it, but the little dog was still angrily humming, apparently temporarily ceasing fire under his persuasion, but it's hard to say what will happen later.
He came outside and the sky was already a dull white. He didn't want to sleep anymore, so he simply got dressed and got out of bed.
The balcony, the yellow flowers of the orchid are still like a fluttering young girl dancing on the emerald green leaves, only the leaves look a bit dirty.
Song Wen took out a paper towel from inside and wiped it, then poured some water from the Ruyi fan into the courtyard to feed the chickens and ducks.
After feeding the chickens and ducks, he opened the back door and let them out. Then he went to the kitchen to boil water, prepared a hot meal for the big water buffalo, and also squeezed a cup of milk before driving it out as well.
Arrived at the entrance of the little hedgehog's cave and took a look inside.
Recently, this little guy seems to have hibernated. The melons and fruits placed at the entrance of the hole haven't been eaten by it. If not for hearing its snoring sound inside the hole, he would have thought that the little guy had gone to see its ancestors.
After finishing the milk, I opened the door and came outside. Suddenly, I caught a whiff of a faint, delicate fragrance wafting from afar, which seemed to be the scent of osmanthus flowers.
Song Wen was taken aback and walked towards the lake.
He came under the Osmanthus tree and was surprised to find that the old Osmanthus tree had actually bloomed, with its golden flowers clustering together like a golden halo surrounding the ancient tree trunk, bringing an unusual yellowish hue to the aged tree.
