Chapter 56. Stop Spamming Me With System Notifications

After reading the warning, there are too many things Cedric wanted to ask. So he simply said, “System, expin!”

[You have intervened in your world too excessively within the st century.]

[Even though intervening with Divine Items will help to filter your influence to the world and limit the damage to the world’s bance and stability. But the amount you’ve intervened within this brief time span is simply too much. Especially around the time when the demon king appeared.]

[Finally, intervening by sending a pure GP to affect Lacius’s universal enlightenment state became the straw that broke the camel’s neck. It causes the stability in your world to enter a dangerous point.]

“Then why did you ask me to send my GP to him?!” Cedric asked with suspicion.

[The length of Lacius’s universal enlightenment state has exceeded the System’s expectation. Which affected the System’s Calcution.]

When he saw the System’s message, Cedric furrowed his brow before immediately opening his status screen in a panic.

Looking at the screen in front of him, Cedric realized he had spent 163 GP! It’s 100 more GP than expected.

“System! Didn’t you say previously that Lacius’s Universal Enlightenment state will end after another three minutes?” Cedric questioned.

[The System never said that. It just said that, on average, the Universal Enlightenment State will st for five minutes. It seems Lacius’s state has sted for much longer, which means the gains he got will be much more than expected.]

Cedric asked, “Then, what should I do now? Should I continue to send GP to Lacius?”

[No. Simply observe your world until its stability begins to recover. You can intervene slightly if things get too dangerous, but it will extend the time required for your world to recover.]

“Okay.” Cedric nodded while slumping on his chair, “How long will it take for the world to recover its bance?”

[It’ll take at least 100 years, and at most 500 years before your world’s stability recovers to a safe extent. That’s if you didn’t occasionally intervene before the bance and stability of your world is truly restored.]

“At least 100 years? What the heck should I do for a whole century!” Cedric shouted in exasperation.

[The System suggests you should spend this time studying how to create a species of your own in preparation for when your world level increases.]

[According to the System’s calcution. As long as no surprises happen, your world should be able to reach Level 2 in approximately 500 years.]

[During the moment when your world leveled up from Level 1 to Level 2, its bance and stability will be greatly boosted for a short time. For that short time, you will be able to directly intervene in your world by spending GP to expand your world’s livable area, create things directly in the world, and even create a greatly weakened avatar to appear in the world.]

“Didn’t you say I couldn’t directly intervene in my world as it’s still too low leveled?” Cedric asked in confusion.

[Indeed. But there is always an exception to everything, and the moment when a world is upgrading is the exception. At that time, the universe will help to stabilize your world, so you can directly intervene.]

“Okay.” Cedric nodded and summarized, “So, for now I couldn’t intervene in my world and can only learn how to create species or pn how I am going to upgrade my world once it’s leveled up?”

[You can sing and dance for a century if you want to. But preparing for your world’s advancement is what the System recommended.]

“Alright then.” Cedric ignored the System’s first sentence and stopped talking. Instead, he sent his mental power to the Crystal Cube world.

Although he wanted to start learning how to create a new species in his world, he is too curious about the current situation.

Anyway, the system only said he shouldn’t intervene, but it didn’t say he can’t observe the situation in his world.

  ***

When Cedric’s mental power entered the Crystal Cube world.

Inside Winter City’s pace, the glow on Lacius’s face satrted to subside.

When he reopened his eyes that had turned red from crying, Lacius saw the people kneeling in front of him. But, he ignored it for now and thought of another more important thing. ‘Just now, I feel like my mind has ascended from my body and entered an incredible pce.’

‘Furthermore, now that I regained my senses, I felt like my soul had been sublimated and I gained some strange memories.’ Lacius contempted while holding onto Hars’s dead body with his only arm.

Then he looked at the kneeling people in front of him and furrowed his brows.

He could feel some sort of connection between him and the people kneeling in front of him.

Through the connection, Lacius felt he could hear some sort of power flowing through him.

While lost in thought, Lacius tried to rub his chin but found the sensation had changed.

Instead of wrinkled skins like before, he felt the sensation on his chin has turned smoother. Just like those of a young man.

“What!?” In his surprise, Lacius accidentally shouted out loud.

He raised his arms and saw the hand that’s full of wrinkles has regained its youth.

The pale, wrinkled hand of an old man is no more. Instead, his arm has returned to its youthful state.

He ignored the people that’s still kneeling around him and approached a mirror.

When he saw the silhouette in the mirror, Lacius became dumbfounded before turning excited.

Instead of the wrinkled old face he has become accustomed to, the mirror showed his appearance when he was still in his early twenties.

The only difference is the ck of left arm because of the attack from Yuma a few years ago. But, it doesn’t matter compared to the youth he has regained.

Amidst his confusion and excitement, the only sentence he could utter was, “What’s going on?!”

  ***

  Inside the Divine Space.

Cedric, who has seen Lacius turn younger, is also confused. “How did he suddenly become younger?”

Instead of answering his question, the System sent another notification.

[Congratutions, you’ve found another general energy, Faith!]

[Normally it’ll require half a billion creatures to believe in the same thing before your world can meet the requirement to unlock the faith energy. But, the universal enlightenment state seems to have filled the numbers. So, thanks to Lacius, the rule regarding faith energy has been successfully introduced to your world.]

[From now on, by gathering believers to a certain extent, creatures in your world may collect faith energy for their own uses.]

“See, I guessed it correctly! It seems the time I spent reading novels didn’t entirely go to waste.” Cedric said when he heard about the general energy.

“Now I became curious just what has he gained from that Universal Enlightenment state?” Cedric muttered.

[Try to use your Divine Sight on Lacius. The System will borrow your sight to check the change within him.]

“For free?” He subconsciously asked upon hearing the System’s message.

[You want to pay for this? Then the System will ask for 100 GP as payment.]

“No no no! Free is good.” Cedric quickly shook his head while activating his Divine Sight on Lacius.

[Please rex your eyes, the System will borrow your sight for a moment.]

Cedric listened and tried to rex his eyes.

He didn’t know exactly what rexing his eyes were. So, Cedric simply tries to not furrows his brows nor gring too much.

Soon, the System sent another notification.

[Done! Here are the skill that Lacius has gained from the Universal Enlightenment state:

  1. Faith manipution.

Effect: Collect faith directed toward the user, grant the ability to use faith energy.

  2. Faith body.

Effect: Store faith in the body which transforms the user’s physical body and souls, also increases lifespan. Faith body will be damaged when it isn’t constantly supplied with a certain amount of faith.

  3. Chaotic prayer immunity.

Effect: immune to the soul distorting effect caused by gathering faith and listening to the prayer contained within.

  4.Inspiration Blessing (Alchemy).

Effect: Increase alchemy reted inspiration for the user’s believer.

  5. Self Fossilization.

Effect: Petrify the user to greatly decrease lifespan consumption.

NB: for a more detailed description, please pay 1.000 GP.]

Cedric read the skills that the System listed and saw the st sentence, “1.000 GP just for a more detailed description?!”

No wonder he felt weird when the System actually gave him some free services. It actually tried to suck his GP from this extra service!

[Don’t think negatively of the System. The extra description also includes a lot of precious knowledge. Inside, there are some methods to manipute faith power, the formu for Self Fossilization’s decrease in lifespan consumption, and other knowledge.]

To be honest, Cedric felt a bit tempted.

Every item the System suggested might have ridiculous names and prices, but they are usually extremely useful. But the price is simply too much.

So, Cedric tried something he has never done before.

He tried to bargain with the System.

“My dear awesome sir system, can’t you decrease the price slightly? You see, I can’t even share the knowledge to the creature in my world because of the whole bance and stability thingy. It’s basically only useful to fill my curiosity!”

Cedric felt a bit embarrassed after saying all that. But compared to saving his GP, throwing down his pride to bootlick the System is nothing!

Still, the System heartlessly denied his attempt at bargaining.

  [The price is non negotiable.]

“Then we won’t have a deal.”

Cedric felt it’s a pity, but 1.000 GP for an information is simply too expensive for the current him.

Furthermore, although the System didn’t say it directly. But he knew that at the moment his world leveled up, he’ll have quite a lot of GP expenditure.

After all, creating species and expanding livable areas in his world definitely gonna cost a fortune.

That’s why Cedric needs to save as much GP as possible for now.

Without purchasing the additional information that the System sold, Cedric continued to observe the situation in the Crystal Cube world.

He saw Lacius standing while closing his eyes.

Lacius currently frowned and looked at the mirror while occasionally gncing at the kneeling people around him.

Soon, he bowed to a random direction and said, “Lacius thanks the creator for your blessing!”

Cedric felt a bit embarrassed when he heard Lacius’s thanks. But then he recalled the GP he had sent to support Lacius’s Universal Enlightenment state and felt it shouldn’t be wrong for Lacius to thank him.

What a pity that he didn’t dare to send a message toward Lacius. So Cedric can only silently watch Lacius from the Divine Space.

Meanwhile, Lacius kept on bowing for ten minutes.

When he saw no response from Cedric, Lacius raised his head and looked at the people kneeling around him.

He raised his arms and said, “You may raise.”

The surrounding people looked at each other before slowly standing.

When he saw the surrounding people had stood up, Lacius pointed at a random high ranking guard and said, “Gather the nobles to the throne room.”

The guard bowed and brought a few other guards to gather the nobles.

Next, Lacius looked at the remaining people and said, “Leave and spread my miracles to the kingdom.”

“Also, call some priests here to prepare for Hars’s funeral. I’ll be the one to lead the ceremony.”

Hearing Lacius’s order, everyone, from alchemists to servants, immediately exited the room to spread the news of Lacius’s miracle.

Now there’s only him and Hars’s corpse in the room. Lacius looked at Hars with a mencholic look and muttered, “I don’t know what exactly happened, but it seems I’ve become even closer to my goal of achieving eternal life. What a pity that I am truly alone now.”

Lacius knew calling himself alone isn’t exactly right, but also isn’t wrong at all.

He still has his wives, and children left in the world. But after the sughter of his family by Gratian, and the death of Yasu. He stopped adding new names to the list of people he cared about.

Lacius shook his head to disperse his sadness and closed his eyes to check the extra memory he had just gained a few minutes ago.

After rummaging through the memories, Lacius found out they actually consisted of several abilities.

When he found out the effects of those abilities from the memory, Lacius could only stare with wide eyes. “This… is this what a true miracle is?”

He tried to activate one of the abilities and found his skin began to petrify before he and the clothes he wore turned into a statue.

Two minutes ter, the statue’s surface cracked and Lacius returned to his normal conditions as if nothing happened.

‘I could still breath, and can even choose whether I want to retain my thinking ability. I can also set the timer on when I want to release the petrification state. Furthermore, it seems I also won’t feel hunger or thirst while in the petrification state.’ Lacius summarized the result of his test and the description he gained from the memories.

Then, he calcuted something and found a shocking fact. “As long as there are a lot of people that believe in me and allow me to maintain my body of faith. I should have around five hundred years of life remaining.”

“If I spent most of the time in a petrified state, then I should be able to live for at least two thousand years. It might even reach three or four thousand years.“

Lacius opened his eyes wide upon reaching that conclusion.

“Furthermore, my lifespan might increase even more once my strength increases. This means I’ve found a way to achieve eternal life!” Even though he is already more than a hundred years old, Lacius couldn’t help but feel excited.
