Ch. 1 – The thorn in the eye

Hi! I apologize for my imperfeglish as it is not my primary nguage but I'd love to share my story with as many people as possible. Thank you for uanding and I hope you will enjoy reading Annabell!

A little town, forest all around and something is about to go down.

Annabell Bck, quiet girl with dark hair like a raven's feather and fine figure with the right curves, celebrating her eighteenth birthday in two months..If you could celebrate on an anniversary of your mother's death.

Annabell lives in Forks, little town surrounded by forest. Her father cheated on her mom and ran away only few months after Annabell was born. He could not bear the fact that his only daughter is blind and after he left, he didn't even try to tact her or her mother anymore.  Annabell was born blind and doctors never found the cause or any way to cure her blindness. However the fact that she's blind seemed to be no problem to her. She was always very curious and perceptive, with remarkable memory. Annabell is also a fast and passionate learner which made her excel at school.  Unfortunately, that also made the people arouo treat her differently. Ones pity her for her handicap, others envy or hate her for her looks and her brains, and then there are those certain individuals who fiertai ao flock together to pick up on those who they think weak and helpless.Essentially, they found Ao be their most favorite target.

  If they only knew...

  /almost two years ago/

Annabell was brought to a police station located oskirts of the town. As she was led through the building filled by the smell of coffee, sound of rustling paper and occasional ring of a phone, Annabell could hear hushed voices and sehe unfortable atmosphere. Nobody knew how to tell her what had happehey had her seated in one of the offices in the back. One female officer even brought her cup of hot chocote but no one seemed keen on giving Annabell any expnation of why she was there.  In spite of that she was blind her whole life, she had quite brilliant hearing. And so, she didn't wait for an expnation much longer.. though it came in a way she did not expect it to, as well as how shog the news would be.  In the offiext to the one Annabell was seated iwo officers debating about who should tell her the bad news. They failed to notice that the door eg the two offices wasn't closed.

"I'm definitely not going to tell her, Mark.""Thomas, I hope you don't expect ME to break the bad o her?""You know what? Let's leave it on the chief. He's known her family for a long time.""You're right, maybe she'll take a bit better from him..""Well I doubt that. Poor kid, born blind, father-dick could be in hell for all we know, and now her mother dies..""By the way, don't you think it weird? The car definitely crashed into somethi stayed on the road while there is no trace of anything or anyone else! There was nothing else around! The car looks like it crashed into a pilr! The huge dent in the middle of the front of it could not create itself. And her body, did you see-"

Annabell heard enough, the hat her mother is dead struck her so hard she wasn't able to process anything else. The shock was s she didn't even start to cry. She froze, feeling her body turn to stone.  The hot chocote she barely touched, as she anxiously waited for someoo tell her what she was brought to police station for, slipped from Annabell's stiff fingers and the ded on the floor. Her mind did nister it. She did not want to hear anything anymore. She o get away.  Annabell stood up and thanks to her well-trained memory she had no trouble finding the exit, even iate she was in at that moment.  A voi her head shouting 'GO, GO, GO..' was all she could hear.  When she came to her senses again she realized she is in a forest, in her favorite pce by, acc to her mom, the highest piree in the world. There she colpsed to the ground and finally was able to let her tears fall.

  /end of fshback/

Annabell was allowed to stay in her family house on one dition. Her aunt Marry would occasionally e and help Annabell with chores and to che how she is doing.  As blind the whole life, Annabell never really missed the sight and learned what she could, to be as little depe on anyone's help as possible. heless, a family friend Catelyn Quillet insisted on that she'll cook for Annabell. She did not want to be cared for but with that she agreed.

For a little while after her mother died Annabell's cssmates showed some dole soon enough everythio as it was before. As if nothing had happe all. Only Annabell felt the ge.

She learo be as indepe as she possibly could but she loved to spend her free time talking with her mom, who was also her best friend. Now even in her secret pce by the piree, she was all alone and ofte lonely.

Her mother was the only one beside herself who knew about this spot. It is the quietest p the forest and for Annabell every pce has its own specific st and atmosphere. That's how she always knew where she was.  To get rid of the feeling of loneliness one day, not long after the tragedy, she started to talk to the forest as if her mom was with her like she used to when she really was there.

Few more details to help to uand the way I write:

  text -are internal thoughts

text -are thoughts of the characters' alter egos

Sometimes they start thinking in unison so a senteh just the character thinking turning to the alter ego thinking(talking) midway is not unusual occurrence.

Hopefully I didn't fuse you too much. Enjoy!
