Chapter 110 Eves Fun & Elite Showdown

The party started their descent down to the lowest floor following Eclipse's instructions very closely. Since they didn't want any issues or entanglements. Of course, it was a rather interesting group of people and now that everyone was rested and able to walk under their own power it made things easier. They quickly made it down the stairs skillfully dodging all of the traps which for some reason were clearly marked instead of hidden. Alexandria figured the reason for that was because the guards and officers making their way down had to quickly get passed everything, they had setup and, in a panic, you don't always remember it's there. So, marking it or uncovering it was the best option. Of course, it didn't make it interesting for them.

Once they made it down, they took the next step which was taking a right and following the corridor down to another set of steps. Those stairs lead deeper into the facility with the final area close at hand and they had made very good time. They descent quickly avoiding all of the paths that were not correct until they came to the first obstacle and that was the four-way intersection. Just as Eclipse had said there were guards waiting for them. However, there were only two.

Eve put up her hand as everybody stopped and she moved forward taking her voice down to a whisper. "I'll take care of this. Even if they see through my disguise, I should be able to kill them fairly quickly."

Nobody said anything and Eve looked back at Alexandria who nodded giving Eve the go ahead to move forward.

A devious smile crossed Eve's face as she took in a deep breath moving her hand over her face. She walked forward into the light that illuminated the four-way intersection.

One of the guards looked up and pointed his rifle in her direction. She could hear the sound from his respirator mask hiss as he spoke. "You there stop right now!"

The other guard turned but didn't make ready his weapon. He just watched.

"Ho there no need to get agitated. I'm just a little lost and a bit tired." Eve put up her hands to show them she meant no harm.

The guard who had yet to brandish his weapon turned fully forward towards her keeping it at the ready but not bringing it up. He looked at the other guard and put up his hand and then slowly brought it down.

The agitated guard would not bring down his weapon until the other guard put his hand on the barrel and forced it down. "What are you pointing your weapon at her for? It could be a researcher you know most of them are female."

"Why would anybody still be up there? Eclipse went on a rampage. Everybody up there is dead. There's no way she left anyone alive." The agitated guard clicked his tongue in disbelief.

Eve's grin increased as she licked her lips for a moment while the two of them were distracted talking as she kept moving forward slowly. "Hey now I don't know why the two of you are fighting. Eclipse did go on a rampage. I was able to hide, and I just got out. I don't know where they are all I'm trying to do is evacuate to the safe area like everybody else."

The calm guard took in a deep breath looking down at the floor for a moment and then back up. "Alright let me see your badge. Even in all this confusion you should still have at least one of them."

Eve wanted to stop, but if she did the other guard would pick up his weapon and start shooting. She needed to get as close to them as possible. Reaching into her coat to draw one of her knives would dispel the disguise. She wanted to be so close that they couldn't react in time. She kept walking making sure to stumble a bit.

The calm guard took a step forward. "Hey now be careful if you trip and fall, we don't have anything to help you. Alright fine come here." He let out a small sigh. "We'll let you pass, but you have to show me your badge."

When Eve had stumbled, she looked down at the floor and smiled for a quick moment as the other guard got closer, she took one step forward and reached into her pocket where she kept a small dagger for emergencies just like this one.

When he reached out and grabbed her left hand, she brought her right out of her pocket and jammed the dagger into this throat. Even though he was wearing protective gear they always were subpar at protecting the throat area which never made any sense to her. He was caught off guard for a moment and then he coughed spiting blood all over her arm.

Her body shook and twisted in repulsion as she pulled the blade out bringing her arm back and flicking off as much as his blood as she could. "That is disgusting. If I was able to throw it there'd be no problems."

The other guard was stunned for a moment just at the very thought at what just happened before his eyes. He shook his head, but it was too late. She took the blade in her hands pulling it back and throwing it at him. It drilled into his mask right between his eyes and thrust itself breaking the bone of his nose and jamming both into his brain. A cough escaped his lips as the mask shattered and he fell to the floor in a heap.

She let out an exasperated sigh grabbing the first guard's coat and wiping off the remaining blood left on her arm. "Argh! I don't want some man's blood all over me. No telling what bullshit they injected into themselves to protect them from the virus." She shivered letting out a sigh moving over to the other guard and pulling her dagger from his face wiping the blood off on his coat placing it back in her pocket.

The rest of the party moved forward as they passed Alexandria placed a hand on Eve's shoulder. "Very good job."

Eve smiled looking up at Alexandria as she moved back to her spot in the formation and the party continued down the path.

Alexandria picked up the two rifles that the men had dropped since they had nothing else of value on them. Their bodies were left where they had fallen. Thankfully the rifles had all the ammunition on the stock. Which made things easier, and Alexandria was able to shoulder them on either side with very nice leather straps.

They continued ignoring the left and right-hand turns and found the last set of stairs which were tucked away on the left-hand side. They went down the stairs one level and there was a short corridor that led into the darkness. Everyone stopped as Eve spoke, "This is the final area before we hit Mist's containment area isn't it, Eclipse?"

Everyone looked at Eclipse as she nodded. "You are correct Eve once we pass this corridor we'll be there. So now there is no turning back. Everyone must be ready for what happens next because it will not be pretty, and the elites will not be as easy as the guards that you just killed. It looks like I killed more guards in my rampage than I thought since there were only two guards watching the barricade area. Which means that everybody else inside this first room are going to be elites and I don't know how many there are going to be." She paused for a moment looking at Alexandria.

Alexandria raised an eyebrow looking back at Eclipse as she spoke. "That means that Veronica and Glade need to take point as we discussed before and in this instance, I think Veronica should go first. She is not known by many walled city officers since her area or facility was destroyed early on and everyone inside was said to have died. Glade will follow in close behind and finally Valentina will bring up the rear. The rest of us will go inside after Valentina has gone in. She can help slow down time as we wait for our two frontline fighters to thin out the ranks. We also need to be careful that we do not cause to much of a ruckus to bring any of the officers from the second room inside." She paused for a moment looking at Eclipse.

Eclipse let out an exasperated sigh. "We have nothing to worry about. The corridor connecting the two rooms is soundproof. So, whatever goes on inside the control room as long as the door is closed will not be heard by the officers. Also, the control room is the place where all cameras in this area are monitored from. There are no monitoring stations in Mist's containment area. So, they cannot see into this room with cameras. The only thing that possibly ruin everything would be if someone from the second room comes down the corridor and enters or of course if one of the elites gets out and gets to the other room." Eclipse stopped talking.

Veronica punched her fist into her palm a devious smile crossing her lips. "The first thing I'm going to do is make a b-line for that second door. Glade and I should turn the center of that room into a kill zone. I will make sure no one comes in or exits through the back door and she will cover the entrance door. That way we can surround them and kill all of them quickly."

"It's settled then I agree with the plan." Alexandria smiled as everyone nodded.

Eve spun around with Veronica leading the way and Glade was in between Veronica and Eve with Valentina heading up the rear trying to keep up with them.

Gale, Eclipse, Alexandria, and Aurora were in the back as Veronica approached the door, she grabbed the knob carefully trying to turn it and it surprisingly twisted and opened up. She pushed the door open and the only thing that was heard was the creaking of the hinges as it fully swayed open.

The guards looked up to see who was coming in and their faces twisted with anger as they saw Veronica. She dashed into the room crouching low extending her right foot back and bending her left then jumping to propel herself forward spotting the exit door as she dashed towards it. She slid across the floor fairly easily after the jump spinning around and blocking the exit.

Glade came inside directly after her followed by Eve. Eve had opened up her jacket showing off all her daggers and knives that were littered across her chest. Glade's iron ball followed her, and she cracked her neck a few times. Veronica was behind them. Glade and Eve were in front of them as the three of them closed in. Valentina made her way inside and started walking towards the center of the room. Eclipse came in next making her way to stand beside Valentina. Finally, Gale, Aurora and Alexandria came inside with Aurora grabbing the knob of the door and slowly closing it. Again, the only sound in the room was the creaking of the hinges as the door clicked shut.

The elite soldiers stood in the center scattered about. There were twelve of them which meant Alexandria and her party were outnumbered, not by much but numbers wise the enemy had the advantage. However, this didn't stop them from looking calm, cool, and confident. Each of the elites had some type of weapon and there were rifles on the table a little bit off to the center. None of the elites had their rifle near them. The two in the center both had swords at their hips and their hands slowly went up to the handles. There were four men facing Veronica. Two of them also had swords at their hips while one of them at the center carried what looked to be a staff, but it wasn't made out of wood. It was gray in color and when he slammed it on the ground it pinged as if it was hollow. The last one on the right carried some sort of axe. The blade was curved, and he was one of the only ones aside from the staff user who had their weapon drawn. The other six were on the other side of the table against the wall. Two of them were barehanded no weapons. Two more had some type of gauntlets on their hands and they both flexed their wrists and blades popped out of the top where their knuckles would be. The final two both had different gear. The one closest to the wall with the entrance door he had a shield and what looked to be an electrified baton. While the one standing next to him had two sais. The baton shield user already had his weapons out while the sai user was moving his hands up to grab his weapons. It was now a standoff, and the rifles were out of reach.

Alexandria understood now why they had found no bladed weapons since only the elites carried those. The rifles were similar to what she had on either of her shoulders. She backed Aurora up behind her taking one of the rifles off her shoulder and handing it to Gale. Gale took it reluctantly giving Alexandria a look. Alexandria knew that there was no reason for her to have one. However, she wasn't sure if any of the guards knew what Gale actually looked like without all that sensory deprivation equipment on her. So, she wanted to fool them into thinking that they were a separate group. Gale shouldered the weapon and brought it up into the aiming position. Alexandria did the same.

The man in the center drew his sword and the man next to him drew two. The one with the single sword spun around one time looking at everyone around them. He smirked none of the elites were in gear to protect them from the virus which meant they either had a small immunity or they were pumped full of vaccine.

The silence was deafening and finally the man with the longsword spoke. "Well, it looks like Eclipse and Aurora have gotten out. Well, gotten out." He let out a small laugh. "You just walked into basically a graveyard your graveyard. I don't know who these other two are or who the other women are who are blocking our escape or more importantly preventing you ladies from escaping." He opened his mouth to continue when Veronica started laughing.

She took in a deep breath and exhaled. The smile on her face disappeared, her brow furrowed, and her eyes narrowed. "I'm going to save you for last." She dashed forward moving her fist back like a loaded gun. Her right and then her left. When she got up in front of the four elite's closest to her. Her fists were fully back elbows extended out. The elites looked at each other but before they were able to look down at her she thrust her fists forward punching into the two that stood in the center right through their armor into their chests and out their backs. Blood, guts, and their armor shot back to the two men in the middle splattering the floor and everyone around them.

Another laugh escaped Veronica's lips as she pulled her fists and arms out of the men jumping backwards kicking both of their bodies to the center. When she landed, she looked up. "I think it's you all who will be buried here."
