Prologue: The Call of Kaildar

Three months had passed since the Guardians had emerged victorious against the shadows. The Sanctuary, once crumbling and broken, was slowly returning to life. Yet, despite the progress made, an unsettling quiet had fallen over the group. The land around them began to heal, but within the walls of their home, something felt off, as though the winds whispered of something yet to come.

The days were filled with the sounds of stone and mortar, of foundations being rebuilt and new growth taking root. But the nights—those long, quiet nights—belonged to Amaya.

Her dreams had begun to shift, growing darker, more vivid. It was always the same dream, haunting her sleep in a way that felt too real, too heavy to ignore.

A lush, green valley stretched out before her, its rolling hills dotted with towering trees and wildflowers. Ancient crumbling stone structures stood tall among the grass, worn by time but still exuding a sense of power, of history. Above it all loomed a massive mountain, casting its long shadow over the valley. The stars above, countless and bright, aligned in a way that seemed both ancient and foreboding.

But it wasn’t the beauty of the place that troubled Amaya. It was the feeling—the overwhelming sense of urgency. A voice, faint but distinct, called for help from the valley below. A cry for aid that echoed through her very soul, pulling her toward it, forcing her to reach out for something she couldn’t quite grasp.

Every time she awoke, she felt the weight of that voice, of the valley’s mystery, lingering in her mind. It was a call to something beyond their understanding, something that could not be ignored.

And then, on a morning like any other, something unexpected happened.

As the Guardians gathered to continue their work, the ground beneath them gave way. Beneath the rubble of what had once been a sturdy wall, a hidden room was uncovered. Sarlon, who had long known every corner of the Sanctuary, was the first to stand still, her blind eyes narrowing as she felt the energy radiating from the newly revealed space. It was unlike anything she had sensed before.

With the help of the others, the rubble was cleared away, and a heavy wooden door was unearthed. When it creaked open, the Guardians stepped inside, their eyes widening in surprise. The room was ancient—its walls lined with books and scrolls, covered in dust and forgotten by time. But it was the map that lay atop a stone pedestal in the center of the room that caught their attention.

Amaya approached cautiously, her heart racing as she saw the markings. It was a map, drawn with meticulous care, and yet the land it depicted was one none of them had seen before. A valley, flanked by crumbling structures and dominated by a great mountain. It was the very place from Amaya’s dreams.

At the top of the map, written in elegant, flowing script, were the words that would change everything.

  Kail'dar.

The name sent a chill through Amaya’s bones, the same feeling she had gotten every time the voice had called to her in her sleep. She wasn’t sure what it meant, or why the name felt so familiar, but she knew one thing for certain: whatever lay beyond this map, whatever lay hidden in Kail'dar, was something they had to find.

The Guardians gathered around the map, their faces a mixture of awe and uncertainty. This discovery, this secret hidden beneath their home, was more than a puzzle—it was a call to action. But what did it mean? Why had this map, this ancient knowledge, been hidden away for so long?

Sarlon stepped forward, her expression unreadable. Her hands trembled slightly as she reached out to touch the map, as though she could feel the weight of its history.

“I never knew this room existed,” she said quietly, her voice heavy with both regret and wonder. “And yet, this map—it calls to me. Kail'dar… I thought it was a myth, a place of legend. A land of light, where balance was kept. But it was lost long ago.”

The words echoed in Amaya’s mind. A land of light, of balance. The name felt almost like a prophecy, a beacon of hope—or perhaps, a warning.

“What is Kail'dar?” Amaya asked, her voice tight with unease.

Sarlon sighed, stepping away from the map. “It’s a place that holds power—ancient power. Power that could either save us or destroy us. And I fear that whatever has called you here, Amaya… whatever has drawn you into this, is more than we are prepared for.”

The other Guardians looked at one another, their faces clouded with uncertainty. Reya stepped forward, her gaze fixed on the map. “How do we find it? How do we get there?”

“I don’t know,” Sarlon admitted, her voice heavy with the weight of her knowledge. “But we must. The map is the key, and it will lead us there. Kail'dar has been hidden for a reason. It’s up to us to uncover it.”

Amaya’s heart pounded in her chest, the weight of her dream now matching the reality that lay before them. Whatever journey they had ahead, it would be one fraught with danger, uncertainty, and the very real possibility of loss.

But there was no turning back now. Kail'dar was calling, and they had no choice but to answer.
