Ch. 24 – Back to the human world!

[I just made a poll in my patreon if they want Chamber to stay as a devil or turn into human. Guess which won, stay as a devil. Anyways, looks like I’ll have to scrape my pn for him to turn into a human and instead, let him stay as a devil. I hope this decision will be appreciated by everyone.]

[Also let me address the issue of svery and such. There will be no such thing happening because the evil piece that was used on Chamber was a mere prototype, possessing only the bes such as turning into devil and such. The cept of svery would be introduced in the official release of Evil Pieces after the Civil War.]

“This is my new prototype of the Evil Piece, this one here is what I will call a King Piece.” Inside Ajuka’s boratory, I watched with my amused eyes as Ajuka picked up a small red chess piece from his work table and showed it to me.

Taking it to my hand, I brought it closer to my eye and decided to use my magical senses on them.

However, it would soon be a mistake as instead if sensing Demoniergy, instead, what I sensed was tless numbers aions made of Demoniergy threatening to burst my brain.

Immediately putting to a halt, I rubbed my eyes as I couldn’t believe sensing magic was able to hurt me mentally.

As if realizing my iions, Ajuka came over and expined.

  “I see that you just tried to sense what’s inside. I fet to tell you not to do that. I spent almost a year perfeg the equation for an Evil Piece.” He then proceeded to expin more about the Evil Piebsp;

Not t or anything but I’m quite smart and good at math so not only I was able to keep up with him but also added my own thoughts about it.

“Wait. So you’re tellihis Evil Piece was created with the bination of Equations and your self-created runes?” I stared at the man in shock. I mean, who wouldn’t be? I know how hard it is to learn runes or else Odin wouldn’t held in such a high regard.

Runes are teically like g in a puter and a single-character rune be interpreted as aire program.

Now imagine knowing thousands of runes and even capable of bining them that plement each other, hehe reason why Odin was known as one of the stro Gods ba my world.

As for this world? I’m not sure yet maybe if I get the eet him, I’ll know how strong the Odin of this world is.

Getting back to the topic, being able to create his own runes is enough for me to aowledge this guy’s strength.

“I didly created it, I just used Odin’s rune nguage to make my own. Without it I don’t think I would be able to create one myself.” Is that blush I’m seeing on his cheeks? Weird, I must be seeing things.

“Whether or not you used Odin’s rune nguage as a reference, learning Ruself is hard enough not to mention making one yourself.” I replied with a shake of my head.

“How about you then? You were able to decipher the equations I set on the Evil Piece whiy months to e up with. Your own intelligence doesn’t fall behind mine.” Ajuka coughed and ge the topic, turnio the main subject.

“To be ho, it’s not that impressive. I’m just good at math and stuff.” Ign the dull look he threw at my way, I tinued by asking a question.

“So what does this Evil Piece do then? From what Serafall told me, she used the Bishop piece. This one seems a bit different.” I asked, referring to the Evil Piece I’m holding on my hand.

“…To be ho, I was thinking of discarding that Evil Piece. It’s to and a bit unstable.”

“I call it the King Piece. Uhe other pieces that only be used on different species except for Devils. The King Piece only be used on Devils only and what it does is increase their Demonic Power ten to a huimes depending on their current css.”

“Let’s say for example, a low-css devil uses this King Piece, it could immediately promote them from Low-css to High-Css. While it could promote a Mid-css to near Ultimate-css. As fh-css and above. Well, I don’t suggest using the King Piece. It’s a fifty-fifty.”

  “Fifty-Fifty?”

“Yes. Fifty pert ce they reach way beyond the Ultimate css and probably on the same level of the Satans or Fifty pert ce their body will overload and explode into pieces. Causing an explosion that could possibly erase aire city from the face of the world.” As soon as he was finished speaking, I deadpaared at him.

“Really? So in other words, the King Piece is a bomb. With just a few bes added to it.”

“…Yes.” His answer just made my stare more deadpan.

And here, I was thinking of giving him a favor in exge for this King Piece. Well, I’d certainly not take my ces of increasing my strength through this King Piece.

Maybe I should just create one myself, solving it should be easy enough, I just o reduce its effects but in doing so, will also remove the ive effects.

So instead of tinuing the topic, I ged it to another.

“Say, you won’t mind if I take a quick look at your research about the Evil Pieces.” Please agree. Please agree.

“….If you uand them then I see no reason to refuse. I pced all my research papers and materials on that shelf.” Pointing his fi a nearby shelf, I saw many things pced on each yers.

Most sisted of folders and notebooks while the rest are broken pieces of chess pieces such as Bishops, Rooks, Pawns and many other.

However, what caught my attention was a certain chess piece that doesn’t look like it was broken or ruined.

The only thing that made it different from the Evil Pieces was that this chess piece transparent and not red in color like an Evil Piece.

My curiosity got the better of me and I couldn't help but take it from the shelf.

I feel like this transparent chess piece is the same as the Evil Piece except that it doesn’t tain any Demonic Power nor aions or Runes.

  It’s like ay Evil Piece.

As if to prove my theory, I used my magical seowards it and sensed nothing from it, except that the material was something I’ve never seen before.

“Ajuka. I ask what this one is?” Dying of curiosity, I finally turned around and asked the creator himself.

Ajuka cast a simple g the pied expined.

“Do you remember when you asked me if Evil Piece be reversed and turn devils baans?” In which I nodded my head, prompting him to tinue.

“I’ve thought about it and decided to see if I could do something about it. Unfortunately, not only I ran out of the necessary materials, but I also don’t have any humans to experiment with.” Ajuka shrugged his shoulders as he replied.

“What do you mean? ’t you simply just kidnap a human and do the experiment?” Right as I finished my words, Ajuka stopped whatever he was doing and monotonously stared at my eyes.

“Really? Out of everyone who would ask me that question, I wasn’t expeg it to e from you, who used to be a human.” His words made me scratch my cheeks in embarrassment.

Well, he’s quite right. I sounded a bit harsh and cold there.

“As for why I didn’t ‘borrow’ a human from the human world, although I’m a devil and a stist, that doesn’t mean I’d fet about my own morals. I don’t want to ihings that was only created through the blood ahs of the is.”

Wow, I was not expeg to hear such profound words from a devil. Maybe I should start ging my perspective when it es to devils in this world?

I’ve been paring the devils of this world back to the Marvel Universe.

Maybe the devil ra different worlds are only simir in different in personalities.

“So halfway through the research, I stopped and abahe idea of turning devils baans. Instead, I just focused on improving the Evil Pieces.” With that, his expnation was finished.

Like an NPC of a video game, the moment the iion and questions towards Ajuka was done, he went back to his work table and resumed work.

As for me, I was left staring at the ‘empty’ chess piey hand.

A revetion was slowly passing through my mind.

Perhaps, I might finally be able to find a way to turn myself baan. With the bonus of retaining the bes, of course. Wouldn’t want to get nerfed now do we?

“What are these Evil Pieces made of anyway? I see that they’re much more durable than a diamond.” My questions once again gaining Ajuka’s attention.

“Oh you mean those crystals? Actually, I only found them through luck when I was visiting Agreas Isnd, a city from the Agares Territory, I noticed that they’re peculiar and different from normal crystals. Not only that, they’re also very patible with Demonic Power. Most materials would either be corroded or break down once exposed to Demonic Power, for some reason, this crystal doesn’t.” Ajuka’s expnation about the crystal made me remember a certain material from the marvel world.

  Uru Metal!

The same material that was used on Thor’s hammer, Mjolnir and his future on, Stormbreaker.

Uru metal was famous not because of its durability but because Uru Metal bees more stronger and durable, the more magic it had inside.

Though it is unknown how much magic it could carry but its feature alone is enough for it to be known as the Metal of the Gods.

So basically, this chess piece-shaped crystal on my palm might be on par with the Uru Metal.

“So you found it first? Have you found it a name?” My question seemed to make the stist stop and think for a few seds before answering.

“I ’t e up with one for now. Maybe I’ll name ohe Evil Pieces are released to the public.”

Resisting the itch of naming it myself, I pced the crystal on aable and grabbed a few folders taining Ajuka’s research about the Evil Pieces.

It took me a few hours to read them all and uand them.

By the end of the time, I was left with a single clusion in my mind.

Ajuka is terrifyingly smart! Probably smarter than Tony Stark himself!

  ***

I took aire day staying at Ajuka’s boratory a me tell you this. I feel like I’m now as smart as Tony Stark.

His boratory is no doubt a treasure trove to people like Tony Stark and other renowned stists.

Thankfully, I’m a devil now. So a whole day without any sleep didn’t bother me much.

Now that I left his boratory with a few experiend more knowledge under my belt, I’m fident to say that give me more time and I might find a way to reverse the effects of the Evil Pieces all while retaining its effects.

Maybe I should sider building my own boratory once I’m riough.

Did I also tell you that Ajuka gave me a few insights about magic circles and their properties? I just ime now and I start the process of creating my own magic circle.

Instead of visiting the Sitri family as I’m certainly missing that short oddball, I decided to visit Grandpa Rad and the siblings first.

Instead of using the portal, I used the teleportation circle instead.

  Why? You may ask.

You see. Portal es more Demoniergy pared to a Teleportation Circle. Which is uandable since Portals ot only instantly transport someo also items, objects, and even energies.

So portal is not only used as a transportation but also as an offense and defense spell. You redirect raacks with the help of portals and your enemy’s own spells against them.

A few seds passed and the teleportation circle finally ed me and I reappeared to a differe familiar pce.

  Grandpa Rad’s farm house.

However, my eye suddenly caught a small fsh of light through the house’s windows.

  What is that?

A bad premonition suddenly appeared in my heart and rushed towards the front doors.
