Wu Mi was missing. The staff searched the inn inside and out for a long time but found no trace of him. It seemed he had truly disappeared.
At the third watch of the night, Yan Hua, as usual, carried a tray of meat and vegetables up to the 3rd floor. The corridor was as quiet as ever. Yan Hua paused for a moment before heading towards the dark corridor. As she passed by Room A-3, she couldn't help but stop. Li Bai's corpse was lying in that room.
There were no candles lit in the room, no offerings, just an exquisite bed. None of the shop assistants were willing to serve Li Bai; everyone knew he had died under suspicious circumstances. No assistant was willing to take care of the room for him, not even the courtesan herself.
Yan Hua just paused for a moment, then prepared to continue walking forward.
"Thud—" A faint sound suddenly rang out, and Yan Hua instinctively stopped. There was no other sound; perhaps she was just being too sensitive. Thinking this, Yan Hua took another step.
"Thud—" Another sound; this time Yan Hua heard it clearly. She turned around and looked towards Room A-3, certain that the sound had come from there.
Yan Hua's hand gently rested on the door. She hesitated whether to push it open, her heart now tense to the extreme.
The door opened by itself, and Yan Hua was startled, retracting her hand and standing at the door, unsure of what to do.
The inside was pitch bck, as if nothing had happened. How did the door open? Yan Hua held up the candle and cautiously leaned her head inside.
Li Bai's eyes still hadn't closed, as if they simply couldn't. His stiff body was still resisting, and the long nail in his chest was firmly embedded in his body. He was lying diagonally on the bed, looking somewhat grotesque.
Yan Hua gasped in shock; she didn't want to look at Li Bai's tragic state any longer. She quickly closed the door again and stepped out.
The room fell into darkness once more, and a pair of eyes blinking.
Yan Hua sat in Room 13 on the 3rd floor with a stern face and said seriously, "Really, it wasn't you?"
The man with the baima jacket, with a worried face, shook his head and said, "I haven't done anything; I haven't done anything at all."
Yan Hua's face turned even uglier, and she took a big gulp of her drink.
"Have you noticed that things are getting more and more suspicious, as if they are deviating more and more from our pn?" Yan Hua looked at the man with a baima jacket and said,.
"I want to figure out what's going on too!" The man with the baima jacket tapped his head with his finger, thinking hard.
"Did you notice anything unusual on the 3rd floor?" Yan Hua suddenly asked.
"Nothing at all; what do you mean?" The man with the baima jacket looked at Yan Hua in confusion and asked.
Yan Hua sighed, took a sip of his drink, and said, "Li Bai is dead. His body is hanging on that wooden board in the inn's lobby."
The man with baima jacket let out a low gasp, looking at Yan Hua in disbelief; he needed to confirm it again.
Yan Hua slowly nodded, then said, "And..." Yan Hua paused for a moment, then continued, "And he has a long nail the width of a finger in his chest."
The man with the baima jacket didn't say anything more, lowering his head.
"Have you found it?" Yan Hua changed the subject.
"Not yet," the man with the baima jacket replied.
"Not found yet?" Yan Hua felt a bit disappointed, looking at Bai Magua.
The man with the baima jacket slowly lifted his head, his gaze meeting Yan Hua's.
Those eyes... Yan Hua suddenly excimed, "You're not..."
"The next one is you!" A hemp rope tightened around Yan Hua's neck...
The man with the baima jacket smiled.
