{dungeon core}
After thinking about it, I went for the Pit. Seeing them climb down the cliff is already fun, and seeing them climb down a hole 16 times deeper will even more fun. I started creating a big staircase 18 by 18 meters, this time with normal sized steps. Next to the stairs I put a slide filled with water. Putting a sign above it saying ‘Fun water slide. Totally safe’. The staircase and slide go down in a spiraling pattern for 3 kilometers.
At the end of it I created an open space and a decent sized pool where the slide ends in. then I began by making a circular cut out. In there I made the pit. The pit is a 100 kilometer diameter is size. Around the pit I made a 20 kilometer ring of a slowly rising mountain. Most of those mountains are 1 km high but some are 3 km. The highest points are touching the side of the ring, from where the walls go up vertically. This creates a ring of 20 kilometers where you can walk. I am going to add a forest here, just a jungle with some creatures. Above the pit and 2 kilometers above the tallest “mountain” in the ring, I made a dome in which I filled with massive light producing crystals. Only a part yet, creating truly massive ones hundreds of meters long still takes too much mana.
Then I started digging the pit. This will take a while, each meter I dig down is over 700.000 m3. For a total of almost 60 times the first floor.
{New adventurer party, Rivermarsh orphanage}
A group of 4 young adults, sitting around a table in the garden of the orphanage. A white feathered seagull avian wearing white clothes, a wide dwarf with a metal helmet and two very similar kobolds both blue with red on the ends of their finned ears and horns.
The avian stand up “Let’s go to the dungeon! A lot of adventurers already got rich by going there.”
The dwarven lass dismissing her “Fila, we don’t have the gear to get anywhere deep into the dungeon. And the spot where the quartz gets harvested is already being controlled.”
The twin kobolds adding together “and all the kelp in the river has been harvested, unless you want to go fight the firebeetles.”
“But we can fight the snakes! We do have the weapons, gear and spells to fight those.” She then mutters silently “so long we don’t come across the blue ones.”
“Aye, that true. Me in my metal armor, Halite and Rosewind spells with your ranged attacks.”
The twins “so long we invest the money we get into better gear for the rest of the dungeon, we can go even further.” Rosewind looking at Fila “And I hope that you also invest in better gear. Not in potato chips.”
“Hey! That not fair!”
Fila then runs to Rosewind to tackle her. Before she gets to her she gets tackled by Halite, quickly after Rosewind joins her brother. After a few seconds of playfighting Hilda picks up the twins off Fila.
“Enough fighting, we decide now what we shall do. I still need to style mah beard. Put your hand up if we want to go to the dungeon”
All four of them put their hands up. The person who was watching them steps out of the orphanage into the garden. The wolf-kin looks at them.
“Now, now not so fast. The dungeon has a steep climbing part. You will need a climbing teacher.”
She gives them a piece of paper. On the paper there is list of 3 people who are teaching climbing.
“These three people are from the orphanage you four can get a discount from any of those three, hopefully. So when you get enough money, go find one. Several people already have died trying to climb down the cliff.”
Hilda nods at the lady “Thanks Matron willow, we will keep that in mind.”
The twins hug the matron trying to steal snacks from her pockets. She grabs both of them and put them down. She then gives both a candy, after taking back the rest of the snacks. She then walked back to the orphanage.
“We shall go to the dungeon tomorrow morning. It Is a 2 hour journey to the mountain outpost.”
The other three nodded.
The narrative has been illicitly obtained; should you discover it on Amazon, report the violation.
{The next day}
The four of them packed all the stuff they needed. Fila of course brought some potato chips. Walking towards the outpost nothing special happened. The road is well walked so no bandit dared to try to rob the people on it.
As they were walking up, they saw several big quartz crystals being carted to the town. The crystals being 10 meters tall took 2 carriages to carry down the mountain. That big and heavy were those crystals.
After taking a short break in their journey they finally arrived to the mountain outpost. The outpost was surrounded by snow. Halite and rosewood both shivering, took out a big cloak where both went under. Trying to keep each other warm.
When they entered they looked for the adventurers guild to get some information for where they might find a place to sleep. Fila walked to the receptionist at the newly constructed guild house.
“Miss, where are good cheap inns?”
“There are 2 places where there are good cheap inns here and in the dungeon. Here is a inn called the drunken chicken. In the dungeon outpost there is one called the crystal dragon. The one in the dungeon is a bit more expensive than the drunken chicken.”
The group discussed with each other, and decided to take the one in the dungeon. Less travel time and better temperatures. So after a short drink in the guild they went to the dungeon. At the entrance they used the now reinforced ladders to go down the massive staircase. Except for Fila, she just glided down the stairs. Hilda looking around.
“This dungeon really likes his big things. A big entrance with big stairs.”
After they got down they followed the stream of people going to the outpost. The twins looking up to the giant kobold statue.
“very big kobold!” “Yes very big!” both of them looking excited to the giant kobold statue.
“The Research guild thinks that the brain of the core is a kobold. So maybe you two might find something kobold related.” Fila says while looking around, checking for snakes.
Within the safety of the stream of people they arrive at the outpost. They immediately try to find the crystal dragon. After a minute they come across a building that has a quartz dragon on the front of it.
“This is it, the crystal dragon” Hilda says while looking at the giant structure.
The crystal dragon was built on the side of the pedestal of the kobold statue. The building goes all the way to the flat spot of the pedestal. A part of the inn was also build on top of the pedestal 30 meters high.
“This place sure has a lot of rooms” Fila says while looking up the weird shaped building.
They entered the building. In the reception area several scaled sapients were working behind the desk. There was a row of people waiting to check in and out. The party picked the shortest row and waited their turn.
“You here to check in, you four?” says a serpentine lizard.
Fila looking at the lizard. “Yes, do you have a room for four?”
“Yes, I do. A room for 4 was just build on top of the pedestal. It will be 5 copper per day for the room. If you pay per week it will only be 30 copper. And per month 120 copper!”
“This is without added food. We don’t do food in this inn yet. It is still under construction.”
They discussed for how long they were going to stay and finally came to a consensus.
“We will pay for 2 weeks.” Hilda gave the receptionist 6 large copper pieces.
“Here is your key, and just take the stairs all the way up and then to your left. There should be your room.”
The twins happily said “Thanks mister snake.” And then took the key and ran off to the stairs.
Hilda and Fila said sorry to the receptionist and also went to the stairs following the twins.
When they reached the room they saw that they had a beautiful view of the dungeon. If it wasn’t so misty and rainy. The room had 1 bunkbed and one two person bed. The twin immediately took the two person bed, leaving Hilda and Fila to choose what part of the bunkbed. Hilda went for the bottom bunk and Fila for the top. As Fila claimed that her avian part demanded to go on top. Hilda just went along with it.
“Well, now that we are settled shall we try to fight one those snakes?” Hilda said while putting on her armor.
“YAY, snake killing time. We go grab our staffs and water proof robes.”
Fila just silently grabs her leather armor and bow. After donning their armor and robes they went outside to the fern fields. The moss making it so that any step they make was silenced, with the occasional squelch when the moss was filled with water.
“There, in the distance do you see those ferns moving?” Fila points out.
“Yes, Get ready to shoot. Same with you two, get your spells ready.”
Slowly the thing moving in the ferns got closer. Fila readied her bow, and she jumped up seeing the snake. She fired her bow, hitting the snake behind the head. The snake hissed and started moving faster to the party.
“Get ready Hilda the snake is not happy.” Fila said as she glided down readying another shot.
The twins readying their spells, shooting when they saw the snake appear. Halite firing a frozen bolt of ice. While Rosewind fire a stronger firebolt. The ice bolt shattered on the snakes head leaving a deep gash. The fire bolt missed the head, but the explosion did blind It in one eye.
Hilda then stepped aside of the snake, where the snake blind was and smacked it in the head with her hammer. Cracking open the skull of the snake. Then an arrow pierced the cracked skull ending the life of the snake.
“That snake was pretty tough.” Fila said while landing
“Yeah if the snakes skull didn’t break on my hammer hit it would have been a bad time for me.”
“I blinded it!” “No I blinded it!”
“Hehe, it doesn’t matter. Now how are we going to transport this carcass back. It is over 4 meter long and as thick as I am.” Fila laying down next to the snake.
{The dungeon core}
Why does it take so long to get through this ground. Is it made of stronger rock or something. Or is me digging a giant hole too much. Either way I was halfway done and I was 2 day busy. Another 2 days before I can create the biomes. Maybe I should go ask the guild for some creatures and plants.
