Middle Medium (A poem about being a middle sibling)

  Written for Ada

So, it boils down to not knowing how to act.

Your emotions are high and are running out of whack.

To have siblings older and younger then you are,

It's not often the case you feel like you're the star.

To get attention, it can often be seen as bad behavior,

Then getting discipline and nothing goes in your favor.

What must be done to stop this kind of routine,

To come out and not be seen as mean?

So, you try once again, to be a true sibling,

But this time without anger and resentment clinging.

You want to be looked up to, as someone with respect,

Use what kindness you have and your intellect.

Become somebody you'd generally like to be,

Look into the mirror and be happy with what you see.

It is not such an easy path to follow,

And on the occasion it is easier to bellow.

But we all are human after all,

As we all make mistakes and fall.

A trick is to stand back up and not give in!

Put all negative thoughts in the bin!

Find the person you would be happy to be,

Because being able to live with yourself is the key.
