Now that they had settled in Hell’s Kitchen, it was only natural to introduce themselves to the street-level hero who operated in the area.
Moreover, Russell was also interested in Matt Murdock’s public identity.
At night, Matt was a crime-fighting superhero prowling the streets and alleys.
By day, he was a wyer... a blind wyer.
Whether Matt was truly blind or not didn’t matter to Russell. What mattered was his identity as a wyer.
In the U.S., being a wyer was undoubtedly a high-status profession.
Not only was the pay excellent, but the social standing was also elevated.
More importantly, Russell’s 'Syndicate Bio' company was currently in need of a legal partner.
This further solidified Russell’s decision to meet Daredevil.
Of course, all of this hinged on the assumption that the person causing trouble for Kingpin was indeed Daredevil.
If it were someone else, Russell would still consider intervening depending on the situation, but he wouldn’t have any interest in recruiting them.
However, the likelihood of the mysterious figure being Daredevil was high, as there weren’t many people in Hell’s Kitchen who would dare or care to mess with the Kingpin.
If his memory served him correctly, the only ones capable of doing so and having the motivation were Spider-Man, the Punisher, and Daredevil.
Russell hadn’t asked Jasper or Jessica to investigate Spider-Man, but he had done some online searching himself and found no signs of a guy in a skintight suit swinging between New York’s skyscrapers. This suggested that Spider-Man hadn’t made his appearance yet.
As for the Punisher, Russell didn’t even bother trying to gather intel on him.
If the Punisher were that easy to find, he wouldn’t be the Punisher.
Besides, if the Punisher were involved, Kingpin wouldn’t just be dealing with disrupted business, he’d be facing a bloodbath.
Taking all this into account, Daredevil was the most likely candidate for the person causing Kingpin trouble.
Finding someone in Hell’s Kitchen, a pce with almost no surveilnce cameras and rampant crime, wasn’t an easy task.
But this difficulty only applied to ordinary people.
For Russell with his superhuman vision, finding a man in a dark red suit who avoided normal paths wasn’t particurly challenging.
By combining telescopic and X-ray vision, Russell could survey the entirety of Hell’s Kitchen in one gnce.
Everything, both what should and shouldn’t be seen would appear before his eyes.
This required him to exercise immense self-control to ensure his gaze didn’t wander to pces it shouldn’t.
Standing on the roof of the Syndicate building and feeling the night breeze, Russell couldn’t help but look up at the moon.
With his incredible telescopic vision, he could clearly see the craters and mountains scattered across the lunar surface.
But he quickly refocused. He wasn’t here to admire the moon tonight.
Through his undetectable observation, he noticed aspects of life he rarely paid attention to.
Even in the chaos of Hell’s Kitchen, there were people striving to make a living.
They didn’t have extraordinary strength or powerful connections, but they were doing their best to survive.
A drunkard passed out in an alley, a restaurant server just off their shift, a night-shift bus driver on high alert, and the various small-time criminals making a living through illegal means.
Seeing these people and situations he usually overlooked, Russell suddenly felt as though he were observing the entire world.
Just as he was lost in thought, a figure in a dark red suit, wielding two bck batons, appeared in his line of sight.
Daredevil. It was him.
Like a cat prowling in the shadows, Daredevil silently made his way to the roof of a rundown warehouse.
Through his X-ray vision, Russell saw the small-time criminals busily working inside.
They were packing goods and loading them onto a waiting truck.
"Smuggling weapons? Such a cliché gang operation..."
Russell shifted his attention back to Daredevil, curious to see how the hero would handle the thugs in the warehouse with just his batons.
While the thugs hadn’t noticed Daredevil’s arrival, they had stationed several guards outside to prevent any unwanted intruders.
"Eight guards armed with rifles and pistols. If a fight breaks out, the twenty or so thugs inside packing the goods can grab their weapons and join the battle immediately. Not completely stupid... they even know to separate the guns from the ammunition during transport."
Russell watched the scene unfold like a movie, casually observing everything in the warehouse and anticipating the action.
On the surface, Daredevil seemed no match for the thugs in the warehouse.
But Russell knew better. While Daredevil preferred to use force against criminals, that didn’t mean he acted without careful thought.
After all, Matt Murdock had passed the bar exam. Anyone who could do that wasn’t a fool.
From what Russell knew, Daredevil possessed superhuman senses (excluding sight), enhanced physical abilities, and world-css combat skills and baton techniques.
So even though Daredevil only had two batons, Russell had no doubt about his combat prowess.
Just as he was wondering where Daredevil would start, the hero began his move.
Daredevil quietly approached the warehouse’s main power switch and, without hesitation, pulled it.
"How did he even know that was the main switch?" Russell was momentarily stunned.
Daredevil’s superhuman senses were limited to hearing, smell, touch, and taste. He shouldn’t have been able to identify the main power switch, yet he did...
Before Russell could ponder further, Daredevil moved to the next phase of his pn.
With the warehouse plunged into darkness, he had created the perfect environment for himself.
The thugs inside quickly tried to fight back, but against someone who thrived in the dark and could use it to his advantage, their resistance was futile.
Gunfire erupted in the warehouse, and even a few grenades exploded, but none of it posed a threat to Daredevil.
From cutting the power to taking down every thug in the warehouse, Daredevil took less than five minutes.
Nearly 30 people, defeated in under 5 minutes... that’s one thug every 10 seconds.
"Impressive! That level of combat skill could easily outmatch Allen in his base form..."
