Chapter 1 The Truth

  Mountaineering is a dangerous sport in the best of conditions. Great care needs to be taken for the safety of all involved. Only carry what is necessary, secure your footing and grip, communicate with your group, and have enough rope to name a few of the rules to be followed.

  I flew ahead alone with our gear to get set up at the base of the mountains. We planned to make the full hike and took January off, as we wanted to make the hike without the crowds. The full hike can take anywhere between 2 to 3 weeks, so planning is important.

  I'm never riding a Boeing again. Terrible. Would not recommend. If its Boeing, I'm not going.

  The airline lost all of our gear, so the hike got canceled, but I was already in Nepal, so I decided to climb at least something.

  I shouldn't have gone alone. I should have been more prepared.
