You sat on the edge of the bed watching the two talk. Atlas, the new guy, has a haunted look in his eyes and grave sadness all over his face. Lucian sat on the carpet. He motioned for Atlas to sit across him.

"The town is..." Atlas’s gaze traveled towards you. “People are dying in our town. A large portion of our town has been... I don’t even know what to call it. One day, the residents..." Atlas pointed weakly to his right, “just dropped dead.”

You felt a large, cold ball of steel sink into your stomach. Your vision started to pulsate as you tried to stand up. You planted your hand on Lucian’s shoulder as your knees felt as weak as paper straws.

The narrative has been illicitly obtained; should you discover it on Amazon, report the violation.

“What did you just say?" You mumbled.

Atlas looked at you. “It was the northern part of the town where most of the elderly reside."

Your throat thickens as you quickly ask him about the street where your house is.

“Residents of that part of town were fine,” Atlas said. “Maybe for now.”

You sat next to Lucian. Lucian placed a hand over yours. A small ounce of worry lifted from your shoulders.

“Now,” Atlas said, looking at Lucian. “Do you know a kid named Sal? ”

The room swims through your vision at the mere mention of the familiar name. Your eyes slowly drifted toward Lucian. His grip on your hand tightened.

“It looks like I am Sal, and my father’s behind everything that’s happening.”
