  A deep, gruff voice snapped him out of his daze. Issei turned to see a towering man clad in dark silver armor, a massive axe strapped to his back. His piercing yellow eyes stared at Issei with curiosity—and caution.

  “Who… the hell are you?” Issei asked, trying to stand.

  The warrior smirked. “That’s my line. You dropped out of the sky like some kind of fallen star.”

  Issei’s mind raced. Fallen star? Did that mean… the vortex threw him straight down into this world?

  Before he could respond, the warrior’s eyes narrowed. “You’re not from here, are you?”

  Issei sighed. “Nope. Not even close.”

  The man scratched his chin. “Then you’re gonna have a rough time, outsider. Because in this world, power isn’t given—it’s earned. And you don’t look like you’ve got much to your name.”

  That’s when Issei realized something terrifying.

  He couldn’t feel his power.
