Chapter 71. Box.

“Wait up,” Hilda said as she stood up, following Shila.

“What?” Shila asked without turning around to look at Hilda as she continued to walk, still annoyed at her.

“What even is the 41st floor?” Hilda asked, causing Shila to finally stop moving as she turned around to look at Hilda.

“A sunken something,” Shila answered, having seen something earlier due to her slight glow while buying two water-breathing potions from the shop as she threw one at Hilda who caught it.

“Yeah, no. It’s not just breathing underwater that’s the problem, it's the swimming too,” Hilda said, annoying Shila suddenly.

“You’ll learn,” Shila said, drinking her potion as Hilda followed just in time before Shila sent them back to the 41st floor.

Hilda immediately prepared to start suffocating again as she felt the water soak her clothes and hair once again, her movements becoming much slower due to the water as she held her breath.

“Are you actually stupid?” Shila said perfectly despite being underwater, bubbles leaving her mouth as she spoke.

“What? How are you…” Hilda said, her voice trailing off as she saw bubbles floating up in front of her too, these ones originating from her own mouth.

“Woah,” Hilda said, exaggerating it slightly as she started to blow some bubbles out of her mouth.

“You shouldn’t do that. The water will enter your lungs. The potions are currently preventing that while supplying our lungs with air. You’ll choke slightly when the potion effects run out,” Shila said, making Hilda instantly stop, not wanting to somehow drown on land after the potion ends.

“Could have told me first,” Hilda said, buying a lantern from the shop as it got put out by the water immediately before Hilda turned to Shila who simply stared at her, not having a word sufficient enough to insult Hilda.

“My bad…” Hilda said, throwing the lantern away as she specifically looked for a water-proof flashlight and bought it before trying to turn it on but finding it spoilt.

“What? It said waterproof!” Hilda said before remembering their god knows how deep under the water.

“Oh… Pressure,” Hilda said, buying a water-proof flashlight able to handle being under a couple thousand fits under the water as it remained okay for a while before getting slowly crushed.

“Oh, what the hell? If my body can handle this pressure, why can't the flashlight?” Hilda complained, receiving a glance from the still-annoyed Shila.

“You 300 times stronger than a human, technically 301 times but whatever, your body could probably handle up to around 13000 to 16000,” Shila said as she turned away, buying a new flashlight worth 100,000 points before it could handle the pressure and probably much deeper.

The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation.

“16000 before I couldn’t go further down?” Hilda asked while tilting her head as Shila glanced at her.

“15000 plus, before you get crushed at around 16000, you’re currently at 13000ft deep,” Shila said, infusing mana into the flashlight as the area glowed up, revealing a massive wall in front of them.

“Dam, that’s big,” Hilda said as Shila nodded her head in agreement as they wandered around the wall looking for an entrance in.

After wandering a couple of rounds around the walls, they finally came to the conclusion that there was no entrance and found that the entire structure was circular and also very tough, shown by the fact that it’s okay at 13000ft underwater and the fact that it remained unscratched even as Hlda attacked it to try to make an entrance.

“What the hell? How is anybody supposed to enter or leave without an entrance?” Hilda said, thinking for a while before not bothering to think about it further.

“Maybe… The walls weren’t built for people to leave,” Shila said, earning a confused look from Hilda.

“Then this is a prison?” Hilda asked as Shila shook her head in response.

“No, a prison would have an entrance, this wall might have been built due to a disaster,” Shila said, making Hilda more confused.

“A disaster? What disaster and how did you even reach such a conclusion?” Hilda asked, confused about how Shila knew this.

“I assume flooding since…” Shila trailed off as she looked around, not needing to explain further before Hilda understood it but only after a considerable amount of time for how obvious it was.

“So we gotta swim up,” Shila said, watching as Hilda opened her mouth to protest but quickly grabbed her arm and started swimming, not wanting to hear Hilda’s complaints about not being able to swim.

After a while of swimming, they eventually reach the top of the walls, which are still under the water level and seemingly halfway in the middle of construction.

“How tall did they intend to build these walls?” Hilda said to herself as Shila finally released her on the top of the walls.

They walked around slightly while Shila shined the flashlight around as Hilda suddenly kicked something, making a ‘clack’ sound.

“What was…” Hilda kneeled down as Shila shined the flashlight, revealing a humanoid skeleton, followed by a couple dozen more in front of them, Shila and Hilda having not seen them before due to focusing heading.

“Ok… This feels like I’m intruding on a dead man’s house,” Hilda said as she turned around to Shila who suddenly pushed her off the edge, into the walls this time.

“Seriously?” Hilda asked, annoyed as she slowly started to sink.

Around 40 minutes later, Hilda finally reached the bottom as Shila followed soon after, finding herself in a small village, most houses somehow still standing due to being made of especially strong material.

“What is this?” Hilda asked, turning to Shila who shrugged.

“Let’s go there, looks important,” Shila said pointing at the biggest building while shining her flashlight, supposedly belonging to the chief of the village, the building itself being partially damaged but still in an oddly good condition for being 13000ft underwater.

“Sure,” Hilda said, not knowing where else to go as she moved towards the building, the steps slow with Hilda being unable to teleport due to not wanting water to end up in every part of her body.

“Alright, we’re here,” Shila said as she pushed the door open, the door falling off its hinges as Shila did so.

“Well, I suppose the fact the door itself is still recognizable at this depth is admirable enough,” Hilda said as they walked in, finding every door barricaded off with wooden planks, the room they were now in containing a chair with a table with a worn out box on the table as Hilda walked up to it and picked it up.

“Well, let’s open it up?” Shila said, sounding impatient as she teleported them both back to the tenth floor, not wanting its contents to be damaged if it was still in good condition.
