Days passed without much thought and soon it was almost Rinaye's thirteenth birthday. Every year, Allison would talk to all of Rinaye's friends and they would try to give Rinaye a gift that was better than last year's. With all of the friends that Rinaye had accumulated over the years, there were a lot of people to talk to, from the trio that took care of her as a wee little baby, to the merchants that were blessed by Rinaye's daily purchases. Allison even talked to Cassion and somehow, he still hasn't noticed that his sister has been out and about for eight freaking years.
This year was special. This was the age that Rinaye had told herself she was allowed to read the books at the highest point in her library. (Reread the chapter titledfor more clarification). It was a right of passage. In Rinaye's previous life she only discovered these kinds of books until she was a bit older, but she wasn't going to let them slip away now! She was determined to head straight to the bookstore on the day of her birthday and go immediately to the back.
Despite her many years of experience living, Rinaye can also be kinda dumb. No one would let a thirteen year old go into the back end of a book store. Ever. But Allison had an idea. Get recommendations from all of Rinaye's adult friends and buy those books under an illusion. It was a better plan than what Rinaye would come up with (Three kids in a trench coat, ). Some of the recommendations that Allison got from Rinaye's friends were rather unusual...
FOR EXAMPLE
Nina liked some really messed up stuff. Stockholm syndrome and slavery were common topics from her books. She was really cheerful about it too.
All of Sabrina's recommendations were all really innocent and wholesome despite their rating. She never looked at Allison without remembering that she knew her secret again.
Edna didn't even look at Allison and just handed her a book. Let's just say that it was graphic and not get into the details of that one. Please.
Allison asked Arion, not thinking he would have any but boy was she wrong. This guy did discriminate, he had everything. There was a secret room in the library he used just for storing all of them. He did provide some very good recommendations. What authors were best for what genre, the best over all series. He had some very good insights.

Cassion was even roped in to this. Allison approached him at a gathering one day because of noble stuff and just asked him. He might be ignorant about a lot but he did not disappoint. He and Allison were friends in the world of ball gowns and fancy parties. Yes, when Allison was talking about Rinaye, he still does not understand that she's talking about his sister but damn his taste in literature was good. None of the titles he suggested had happy endings though. Sad :(
Ruby's aunt, the owner of the bakery was also asked. She doesn't really read that kind of novel but she gave Allison a title as a joke. It was about bread. It was kind of novel, about bread. It was the equivalent of really bad fan fiction about baked goods. Allison was kind of impressed that she gave the title to her with a straight face. Apparently someone gave it to her as a gag gift and she read it all the way through. Allison had a new found respect for the bakery's owner whose name has been Amelia the whole time.
The Duchess laughed uncontrollably when she heard Allison's request. Then she got serious. She pulled out a piece of paper and started writing. and writing, and writing, and writing. It seemed like it would never stop. When she ran out of space on one page she would take out another and keep writing, and writing, and writing. Eventually she did stop. Only to venture into the next room and grab more paper. She ran out of the stack in the room they were in. When she finally stopped, for real this time. Allison had an entire arms length of stacked papers, with dozens of novel titles. Where did you think her sons got their taste in novels from?
With all of the recommendations, mostly the duchesses, Allison started ordering the novels. She couldn't really go to a book store with all of the titles she received. She started filling out the order forms and sending them out into the world. It didn't stop her father from finding out what she was ordering. Allison would be glad that she did not ask her father for advice because she would not want to know that he also sent out quite a few order forms for the titles that caught his eye.
Even since that day. There was a new library built in Vissier Duchy. Everyone assumed that it was filled with important documents and various treasures since it was kept under lock and key, but the future robbers that planned to steal whatever was inside this mysterious enigma of a library would both be very surprised and very embarrassed.
