Chapter 67: The Gate of God (Part 1)
Li Ling's eyes moved, looking at the old general, and said with great respect: "General, thank you."
"It's not that we're not good enough." The old general's face was solemn, his eyes fixed intently on Li Ling as he carefully sized him up and said, "At such a young age, you already have this kind of strength. The Nine-Tailed Fox Spirit's recommendation is indeed reliable!"
"Thank you, General Li, for your kind words! I'm not worthy of such praise!" Li Ling smiled slightly and handed the Cicada Wing Blade to the apathetic woman, saying: "Your knife!"
The apathetic woman walked to Li Ling's side, stretched out her hand and took the Cicada Wing Blade. The two blades were put together, but the eyes looking at Li Ling showed a hint of gratitude for sparing her life earlier.
In fact, how could the apathetic woman not know that Li Ling had shown mercy just now? With Li Ling's strong spiritual power, if he really wanted to kill himself, he wouldn't need to fight so many rounds. He only needed to continuously launch spiritual attacks and ten of him would have been killed by Li Ling.
The apathetic woman took back her Cicada Wing Blade and retreated to one side.
"A04, why don't you go change your clothes? Fix yourself up from that disheveled state." The old general said warmly.
"Yes, captain." The aloof woman looked down at her disheveled clothes and her pretty face actually flushed red. After sneaking a glance at Li Ling, she turned around and left the research room.
"Comrade Li Ling, I have something important to discuss with you. Come with me alone for a moment." The old general's eyes held a hint of mystery as he smiled at Li Ling.
Li Ling was treated with warmth and kindness by her opponent, and suddenly felt an unparalleled sense of trust.
"Alright." Li Ling replied simply.
"Everyone else has dispersed, this matter is settled here, I don't want to see you using anyone other than volunteers for live experiments, otherwise, discover one, shoot one dead, understood?" The old general said seriously with a frown.
"Yes, captain." everyone chimed in unison.
"Li Ling, come with me." The old general said to Li Ling and then took him out of the research room, heading towards another tunnel.
Li Ling followed behind the old general and his officers, strolling through this endless tunnel.
"General, may I ask three questions first?" Li Ling's eyes fell on the old general's shoulders as he said solemnly.
The old general and the officers stopped in front of a sealed room that was like an iron box.
The old general looked at Li Ling with a warm gaze and said, "What's the matter? Just ask. I'll answer everything I can."
Li Ling obtained permission and asked, "General, I'd like to know, what is the relationship between you and An Jing?"
"I am the father of An Jing's adoptive father, and I am called An Lan." said the old general.
Foster father, that is to say Anjing was an orphan, adopted by others, Li Ling's heart felt a chill.
"General An, what's going on with this underground research facility?" Li Ling let out a slight sigh and hesitated for a moment before asking the question.
"This research institute was built with the heart and soul of several generations, and even now it is still not completed. It's a complex of underground research facilities that span centuries!" An Lan said.
"One last question, what kind of danger is Miss Anjing in?" Li Ling's gaze at Anlan was sincere, because if he wanted to protect Anjing, he had to know the cause and effect.
An Lan was taken aback for a moment, then smiled slowly after enduring for a while: "This is also one of the things I wanted to tell you. However, things are complicated and can't be explained in just a few words."
Then, An Lan said to the officers behind him: "You all wait here."
"Yes, sir." The officers responded in unison.
An Lan nodded towards Li Ling and opened the cabin door behind him. After the door was open, An Lan said to Li Ling: "Come in with me."
Under An Lan's lead, Li Ling was led to a mysterious area where there were no workers but an entirely automated computer-controlled chamber.
The room was very large, all the computer equipment was automatically running, and data was being automatically transmitted! It seemed to be constantly calculating some kind of super formula at ultra-high speed, decoding a mysterious code.
In front of all the small computers was a gigantic screen, on which, in addition to the panoramic design drawing of this underground research institute, some unknown data were constantly jumping.
"This is...the world's most advanced computer!" Li Ling's eyes widened in astonishment, these ultra-fast computing computers, Li Ling had never seen before.
"Yes, but even so, can't calculate out these formulas?" An Lan handed Li Ling some strange manuscripts.
On these manuscripts, some mysterious symbols were recorded. These mysterious symbols are like individual formulas, linked together to form a decoding group that is interrelated with each other. Although Li Ling couldn't understand it, the shape of the symbols seemed familiar!
"What does it mean?" Li Ling felt that something beyond human cognition had appeared.
"These are data from ancient times, and we're all preparing for one thing." An Lan looked at the calculated data and sighed slightly.
"What's going on?" Li Ling listened attentively to the old general's account, without missing a single word.
"Is the password for opening the Gate of Time and Space also the password for opening the Gate of God?" An Lan said, trying to remain calm, revealing a secret that was hard to accept.
The Gate of God, the Gate of Time and Space. There are many controversies and sayings about it in the world. Some say it is affected by magnetic fields around the environment, some say it is a door to the divine realm, and some say it is nothing at all, just some deceitful people deceiving the public.
"You know, north latitude 30 degrees!" An Lan said, holding up her manuscript and looking at Li Ling.
"At 30 degrees north latitude, Bermuda, the Pyramids, Mount Everest, and even the legendary time-space gate are all on this dimension. Li Ling may not be familiar with many modern knowledge, but he has accumulated quite a lot of information about these mysterious places in the world."
"Not only that, but everything at 30 degrees north latitude is very special." An Lan pressed down on one of the computers and with a few keystrokes, decrypted it. Suddenly, the large screen displayed a shocking image.
All areas in this dimension are in a period of extremely unstable turbulence in the magnetic field.
"And on this dimension, the terrain situation shown, if traced back to 30 or 40 thousand years ago, take a look again." An Lan's fingers tapped on the keyboard, and instantly, the terrain began to change.
"Li Ling, what did you see?" An Lan asked.
"This... three or four million years ago, the terrain and now have changed so much, it's simply two completely different tectonic plates." Li Ling said in shock.
"Yes, according to one theory, human civilization is not just five thousand years old, but can be traced back much further, tens of thousands of years ago, or even hundreds of thousands of years ago. Of course, these are all speculations." An Lan said.
"If that's the case, then there's a saying that after civilization disappears, where does it go? Is it possible that it goes to a higher level of civilized world. However, if one can instantly open a space-time door, perhaps it can explain the secret of a civilization disappearing overnight." An Lan said this guess, making Li Ling feel terrified.
"In the past, ancient people said that by cultivating the Tao and becoming an immortal, one could ascend to heaven and become a god, disappearing from this world. But speaking of today, it's impossible for someone to disappear without any reason. So there's only one possibility: instead of ascending to heaven, they must have grasped the mysteries of heaven and understood the password to the gates of time and space, going to another world." An Lan's words became increasingly mysterious.
Could such words have come from a military man's mouth? Li Ling was utterly incredulous.
